Yeah, I discovered that after it was too late.  I'm sure it's handy though.  Can it pinpoint your phone accurately enough to gather an angry mob and storm a specific house?
3  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: lost/stolen phone help on: September 15, 2013, 09:36:48 PM
I did call the phone several times and no answer.  I was working at the time I lost it tho so I had it on vibrate only.  I even had my sister text it from her phone saying to call her phone if it was found, but then I disabled the phone so....  Besides, if someone didn't think to hand it to a store associate or turn it in to the front desk I'm assuming that they're keeping it to look through my stuff. icon_mad icon_cry

Thanks CK, just changed itunes too!

Maybe it'll will have turned up by tomorrow when I go back for my close shift but I doubt it at this point. tear
4  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / lost/stolen phone help on: September 15, 2013, 08:24:42 PM
Need some help covering my bases here.  I lost my phone today at one of my employers  (Home Depot) and since it hadn't turned up in the two hours it was missing i'm now considering it stolen and need to tie up all the loose ends that I can

I have an iPhone 4s with a Rogers plan.   Rogers has  phone tracking but, surprise, you have to have your phone in order to register it (kind of a useless feature).

So far I have contacted rogers and had the phone disabled so at least data usage is protected.
I have also changed the passwords on both my gmail and hotmail accounts, as well as changed the password on my facebook and had it log out of my mobile devices. Other apps on my phone are mostly game apps, itunes etc.

Most unfortunately, I uninstalled the swipe code lock app that I had on my phone a week ago (buggy -almost locked myself out) and hadn't installed a new one yet.  Whoever has it can access all my previous texts/pictures and phone lists which there is nothing I can do about now.

Nothing so far seems to have been accessed (no one changed passwords in my email) but that could change.  Is there anything else anyone can think of that I need to be doing to protect myself?

This eschews the point and I'm going to choose to ignore it.

There are people all over the world who see reality in a way that is contrary to reality. How is it that if someone says they feel like a woman even though they are a man suddenly validate the misconception? Rather than it being looked at as a mental issue like so many other mental disconnects?

If a male says they feel like a woman, how is that contrary to reality?

If a man says he's feels like a monkey, how is that contrary to reality?

Fact is, no one has actually dared to answer ATB's question.  If a man says he feels like he's female, that's accepted - at least by many.  But if he said he feels like he's a monkey and starts going around acting like monkey, I think most people would say he's got a problem.  So what is the principle for distinguishing between the two?  Is there a principle involved, or it is just arbitrary?

What is at issue is not whether he is a monkey, but whether he feels like one. Who are we to say how he feels?

How the hell do you 'feel' like a monkey?  Does anyone know how monkeys feel?  Stating that you 'feel' like a monkey and wanted to be one could only mean that you want to act and be like one, or mimic one.  It doesn't mean you are one, even if you get hair grafted all over your body and throw your poo.

I can't seem to use spoiler tags so I'll be cryptic when I say this.  I just was in a Chapters and managed to read half of the first Walking Dead comic and, wow what a difference in at least one character line already.  I read up to that one part mentioned earlier and was like "woah!  Already? And like that?"  I kind of like where the tv series is taking the character instead.

yeah, no complaints here.  damn.  they managed to resolve the first big hanging thread for this season and in an expected and yet, still wrenching to watch.

Great point and a sign of a great show.  I think most of us (who have not read the comic) thooght they would find Sophie zombified and yet they managed to still it do it in a shocking and gut wrenching way.  Rick putting her down was also a surprise and showed why he is the leader.  Hell even Shane balked at it and we all know that dude is EVIL!  slywink

Yeah, great way to end the mid season (wtf February?!?).  To me, its a sign of a great show when, even when I already suspected whats going to happen I'm still sitting there, mouth agape in awe of the awesomeness.

What I don't understand is why they are driving around in a shitty RV that is always breaking down?  There must be a RV dealer somewhere that has a shiney new RV with no mileage on it. They could have any vehicle they need, yet they drive around in mostly unreliable transportation.  What about armoured cars, military vehicles (with gun mounts like the Humvee outside the CDC) or anything with 4x4?  Or that truck full of water bottles that they desparatly need?

Whatever, I love they show but I would want more solid transportation. Tongue

My Samsung Synchmaster 20" 3000:1 blah blah started to blink on me.  On powering it up, the power light would come on, and the screen would blink for a second then would go off and the cycle would repeat for 2 min to all day before it displayed the desktop. I figure this is some sort of LCD death throe so I'm thinking of just moving on. I was actually kind of suprised that this happened as the monitor has now been out lasted  by many poorer CRT's I've owned.  Just curious before I get another Samsung if their are some comments on the performance/price of other models.  I recently got a look at a 27" 50000:1 1ms Samsung and it was very prettty.

Battlestar did that too.  I was rewatching it with my dad (who hadn't seen it)  and had to get him to look away while the episode started.  Gave away some major plot points Roll Eyes

This thread got me into rewatching XFiles (hadn't seen then since original broadcasts) and I'm loving it as much as I did before.  Its funny to see some of the guest actors that they have on and where they are now.

I'm on season three and just finished 'Syzygy' where a rather chubby Ryan Reynolds had himself killed off by some devil bitches in the opener.  thumbsup  Not to mention D.P.O. with both Jack Black and Giovanni Ribisi.

Oh yeah, some favourites so far are, Humbug, Clyde Bruckmans Final Repose, Oubliette War of the Coprphages and the one with the glowing insects from season 1.
29  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [study advice]Going for CCNA soon... on: July 26, 2011, 11:01:36 AM
I just recently finished a return to school for a career change , completing a three year diploma as a compy technologist.  The course included all the coursework for CCNA, minus the actual certification testing.

I had to take a job in my old career to keep finances going (and to keep $ from destroying my marriage) after school as jobs around here are currently few and far between.  Recently I've had an opportunity to interview with a network security company and basically, they said I would be first in line for it except that, due to my lack of experience I'd need to show a certification to prove my aptitude for networking.  I was/am a Ford mechanic, and am fairly green in the I.T. experience dept...

Anyway, here I am now.  Its been 7 months since I've looked at my Cisco coursework, and my retention has not been...complete.  I need to get a study plan together, and basically relearn/remember/practice eveerything I need to complete my certification.

I have:
Most of the CCNA 4.0 lab books/DVD's - but no texts
Packet Tracer

For those of you who have completed their CCNA, I'm looking for suggestions on study materials/methods.  I've been looking at getting one of those "Prepare for your CCNA exam" books, but wonder how effective they are.
Packet tracer is the only thing that I currently have access to to simulate a network - no physical environment.  Would love any suggestions you may have Thanks!

My C: drive is almost full and I need to expand it before I start running into performance issues.  I cut out 100GB from one of my logical drives, creating the free space, but I can't use it for the Primary partition unless its Unallocated.  Options to delete the free space are greyed out, and other online help seems to assume that you can just delete it.  I've used the elevated command prompt to do what I need otherwise but nothng will allow me to convert the space back to unallocated.

So far, the free downloadable partition wizards that I have come accross have wanted me to pay before doing anything useful.  Any suggestions?

So who's it going to be tonight?  Both teams have shown that they're tough to beat at home and Vancouver has bounced back after tough losses to Boston.  I think this will be a close one as usual but I don't know who it's going to go for.  I got a feeling that it will come down to a lucky bounce for one team and not for the other.  I dislike Boston as a general rule but I think Thomas is a pretty good guy so if there was some way for only him to win the Stanley Cup I would be for it.  On the other hand, I have nothing much against Vancouver but I have never liked Luongo.  I don't know who to cheer for or against! I guess I'll be a neutral party for Game 7.

Someone needs to make a .gif of Henrik getting punched in the face and just standing there taking it, hit after hit.  I know the Sedins aren't really physical but COME ON.  Boston will win if you let them physically beat the crap out of you. Even Grapes had something to say about it.

I'm rooting for Vancouver because I want to see the cup in Canada but I'll be almost as happy just to see Thomas raise the cup.  What a great example of cool confidence and excellent goaltending.   nod
