Been sorta following this on Cracked as it was written by one of their writers. Been looking forward to seeing it but haven't been able to get any on demand releases... EDIT: The trailer is awesome

Aaah! Andy's dead? I knew he had gotten sick but I guess I lost track. Such a shame. Also, didn't even know there was another installment of the show. Can't wait to get into it. Hope the new guy is good. Anyone seen him in anything?

I can't seem to use spoiler tags so I'll be cryptic when I say this. I just was in a Chapters and managed to read half of the first Walking Dead comic and, wow what a difference in at least one character line already. I read up to that one part mentioned earlier and was like "woah! Already? And like that?" I kind of like where the tv series is taking the character instead.

yeah, no complaints here. damn. they managed to resolve the first big hanging thread for this season and in an expected and yet, still wrenching to watch.
Great point and a sign of a great show. I think most of us (who have not read the comic) thooght they would find Sophie zombified and yet they managed to still it do it in a shocking and gut wrenching way. Rick putting her down was also a surprise and showed why he is the leader. Hell even Shane balked at it and we all know that dude is EVIL! Yeah, great way to end the mid season (wtf February?!?). To me, its a sign of a great show when, even when I already suspected whats going to happen I'm still sitting there, mouth agape in awe of the awesomeness.

Most decent cats have an understanding as to when is a good time to bring out the claws. In all like-lee-hood the cat was beating him with his cotton ball paws. BUT HE STILL GETS HIS POINT ACCROSS. Its good that the kid may have learned a lesson. Hate for him to grow into one of those BBqr's.

What I don't understand is why they are driving around in a shitty RV that is always breaking down? There must be a RV dealer somewhere that has a shiney new RV with no mileage on it. They could have any vehicle they need, yet they drive around in mostly unreliable transportation. What about armoured cars, military vehicles (with gun mounts like the Humvee outside the CDC) or anything with 4x4? Or that truck full of water bottles that they desparatly need? Whatever, I love they show but I would want more solid transportation.

Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / My first monitor dies - in spasms

My Samsung Synchmaster 20" 3000:1 blah blah started to blink on me. On powering it up, the power light would come on, and the screen would blink for a second then would go off and the cycle would repeat for 2 min to all day before it displayed the desktop. I figure this is some sort of LCD death throe so I'm thinking of just moving on. I was actually kind of suprised that this happened as the monitor has now been out lasted by many poorer CRT's I've owned. Just curious before I get another Samsung if their are some comments on the performance/price of other models. I recently got a look at a 27" 50000:1 1ms Samsung and it was very prettty.

Battlestar did that too. I was rewatching it with my dad (who hadn't seen it) and had to get him to look away while the episode started. Gave away some major plot points This thread got me into rewatching XFiles (hadn't seen then since original broadcasts) and I'm loving it as much as I did before. Its funny to see some of the guest actors that they have on and where they are now. I'm on season three and just finished 'Syzygy' where a rather chubby Ryan Reynolds had himself killed off by some devil bitches in the opener. Not to mention D.P.O. with both Jack Black and Giovanni Ribisi. Oh yeah, some favourites so far are, Humbug, Clyde Bruckmans Final Repose, Oubliette War of the Coprphages and the one with the glowing insects from season 1.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [study advice]Going for CCNA soon...
|
on: July 26, 2011, 11:01:36 AM
|
|
I just recently finished a return to school for a career change , completing a three year diploma as a compy technologist. The course included all the coursework for CCNA, minus the actual certification testing.
I had to take a job in my old career to keep finances going (and to keep $ from destroying my marriage) after school as jobs around here are currently few and far between. Recently I've had an opportunity to interview with a network security company and basically, they said I would be first in line for it except that, due to my lack of experience I'd need to show a certification to prove my aptitude for networking. I was/am a Ford mechanic, and am fairly green in the I.T. experience dept...
Anyway, here I am now. Its been 7 months since I've looked at my Cisco coursework, and my retention has not been...complete. I need to get a study plan together, and basically relearn/remember/practice eveerything I need to complete my certification.
I have: Most of the CCNA 4.0 lab books/DVD's - but no texts Packet Tracer
For those of you who have completed their CCNA, I'm looking for suggestions on study materials/methods. I've been looking at getting one of those "Prepare for your CCNA exam" books, but wonder how effective they are. Packet tracer is the only thing that I currently have access to to simulate a network - no physical environment. Would love any suggestions you may have Thanks!

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Anyone get an email from Bioware about a hacked server?
|
on: June 24, 2011, 03:31:09 PM

I've never gotten an email like this before and wonder about its authenticity. We recently learned that hackers gained unauthorized access to the decade-old BioWare server system supporting the Neverwinter Nights forums. We immediately took appropriate steps to protect our consumers’ data and launched a thorough ongoing evaluation of the breach. We have determined that no credit card data was compromised from the servers, nor did we ever have or store sensitive data like social security numbers. Our investigation shows that information such as user names, encrypted passwords, email addresses, mailing addresses, names, phone numbers, CD keys and birth dates from these forum accounts on the system may have been compromised, as well as other information (if any) that you may have associated with your EA Account. In an abundance of caution, we have changed your password to ensure account security. Please visit this <link removed>to reset your password immediately.

We take the security of your information very seriously and regret any inconvenience this may have caused you. Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / [WIN7]Trying to delete 'free Space' to make it 'Unallocated'
|
on: June 21, 2011, 12:42:45 AM
|
|
My C: drive is almost full and I need to expand it before I start running into performance issues. I cut out 100GB from one of my logical drives, creating the free space, but I can't use it for the Primary partition unless its Unallocated. Options to delete the free space are greyed out, and other online help seems to assume that you can just delete it. I've used the elevated command prompt to do what I need otherwise but nothng will allow me to convert the space back to unallocated.
So far, the free downloadable partition wizards that I have come accross have wanted me to pay before doing anything useful. Any suggestions?

So who's it going to be tonight? Both teams have shown that they're tough to beat at home and Vancouver has bounced back after tough losses to Boston. I think this will be a close one as usual but I don't know who it's going to go for. I got a feeling that it will come down to a lucky bounce for one team and not for the other. I dislike Boston as a general rule but I think Thomas is a pretty good guy so if there was some way for only him to win the Stanley Cup I would be for it. On the other hand, I have nothing much against Vancouver but I have never liked Luongo. I don't know who to cheer for or against! I guess I'll be a neutral party for Game 7.
Do your patriotic duty and cheer for Vancouver!

Someone needs to make a .gif of Henrik getting punched in the face and just standing there taking it, hit after hit. I know the Sedins aren't really physical but COME ON. Boston will win if you let them physically beat the crap out of you. Even Grapes had something to say about it. I'm rooting for Vancouver because I want to see the cup in Canada but I'll be almost as happy just to see Thomas raise the cup. What a great example of cool confidence and excellent goaltending.

Agreed. This 'mistake' is made in many fictional movie where they are in another world aside from earth. It doesn't bug me that much, but I notice it every time and wonder why not just call it something else, preferably something that fits the lore of the world the movie/story is about?
I'm not sure what would be equal to hell in Star Wars though. To say "I'll see you on the dark side" dosen't quite have the same meaning.
