Spader as Ultron - good thing there's no action scenes he needs to participate in, but being cold and calculating is his wheelhouse. Good pick.

Did Ultron have Wolverine-like claws? Also, how does the USA sustain itself with such rampant damage happening over and over again on its home soil? The cost to rebuild must be staggering!

Lastly, there is a Hulkbuster at 1:35ish. Cool. Hopefully Ruffalo as Banner/Hulk will allow them to go back to making a Hulk movie with him in it.

45  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Now Free on EA's Downloader Service That I Refuse To Call By Name: Syndicate on: March 05, 2015, 02:45:12 PM
The old Syndicate had several notable points:

1) The blimp between missions? That's also the endgame sequence, even though the intro was (at the time) pretty damn cool.
2) The American Revolt add-on starts you off at the same difficulty as the very last mission (Atlantic Reactor, IIRC). That means it is HARD.
3) Airstrikes (against you) suck.
4) I believe they may have patched the difficulty ... I have not confirmed this.
5) I don't know if this version comes with the expansion.

I'd like to see them give away the Crusader series (No regret, No remorse)
46  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Now Free on EA's Downloader Service That I Refuse To Call By Name: Syndicate on: March 05, 2015, 02:41:49 PM
Only the new version had MP. The old one didn't. Don't remember if Syndicate Wars had MP or not.
47  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Now Free on EA's Downloader Service That I Refuse To Call By Name: Syndicate on: March 05, 2015, 02:36:17 PM
The MP in Syndicate is fantastic. Highly recommended - just make sure you go with at least two other players. Some of it is punishingly hard.

EDIT: This is for the original Syndicate, not the remake (just 'claimed' mine).

I only got origin for Mass Effect 3.

Gold isn't a colour, and it has to do with the yellow, and shadow.

Take the pic and throw it into negative.... regardless of what you "see", the negative is unabashedly White/"Gold" which means they are not the colours in positive.

A surface pro 3 is a fantastic piece of hardware, but it's no replacement for that particular laptop. Intel HD 4000 just doesn't cut it for anything game-related.

Even the i7 only has 4400, IIRC.

Regardless, I expect the new line of Surface Pro's to be announced shortly. It's been a year.

Ryse's gameplay was extremely simplistic, while The Order: 1886 is a full-blown shooter with some very original weapons.

If you think Ryse's combat system is simplistic, you only scratched the surface.

You *CAN* play it simply, but you are only effective enough to move through (at best) normal.

Try the hardest setting only using one set of combat skills. Remember the D pad? You should be hitting this and changing modes a lot to survive. Truth be told though, unless you want to get an achievement or play the arena combat, there just isn't any reason to get better than that.

Ryse was lambasted though there was valid criticism. The nature of console exclusive AAA titles with this generation means that cutting it down somehow boosts your own preferred console up.

But hey, thanks for reminding me why I cared so much about your opinion on what I base MY opinion on. I should simply check in to get your feedback on what I should like - cuz you know, Iron Man 2 and 3 were on par with the original (which would certainly show things getting better, no?)

So why not assume Avengers 2 is going to be better? Oh, wait. Discussing this with you is pointless. Carry on telling me why I'm wrong to not assume all things Marvel (produced or not) are subject to the same criticality that I employ in say, deciding to watch movies directed by those geniuses behind The Matrix (1).

Purge, I honestly don't care about your feelings for any upcoming movies, by which I mean you're welcome to your opinions.  What I care about is when you're basing those opinions on incorrect information.  And stubbornly hold to them despite evidence to show where you've been incorrect.

So my SEVEN attempts to watch Thor 2, that's right SEVEN, in which the movie has failed to grab me is no cause for concern? I have yet to finish it ... it's just so MEH! I've also listed Phase 2 movies in my list of movies that have concerns (hence the reference to both direct and indirect).

Marvel made money renting out their licenses to other production companies. But of course, this is just my stubborn streak. Roll Eyes And to point this out - you're the one stubbornly refusing to acknowledge that I may have a point by clinging to the idea that the entirety of my opinion is derived on movies that Marvel didn't produce directly.

And by that same yardstick, some of the treatments outside Marvel have also been awesome, so I fail to see how I'm wrong in assuming all movies based in the Marvel universe (regardless of publisher) should be viewed critically before becoming an instant fan.

Hep, the one thing I felt that The Hulk movie did right is putting Banner in the role of emotionally stinted, and showing that as his rage grew, so too did he get stronger. Bigger was a little too over-the-top, but it did get the point across.

They apply to Marvel, if not MCU directly.

But they don't apply to your argument.  They were not made directly by Marvel.  It wasn't until the MCU started (Iron Man) that they were.

And, sure, some of the MCU films are better than others, but overall, the persistence of quality has been fairly staggering.  Your "Make Mine Marvel...Perhaps" stance loses steam if you're looking at it right.

If Marvel decided to rent out their property, and the people who rented it damaged it, who's responsible?

Yeah. You're not going to get me to agree that they have clean hands due to it being elsewhere - those other companies have rights to the property, but it's not like they didn't GIVE them that right. Furthermore I listed ones directly under their watchful eye (Production company and all) that have not impressed me.

So when I say I don't give their upcoming movies an instant pass, it's not because I'm being contrite contrary. They have earned it - both directly and indirectly.

They apply to Marvel, if not MCU directly.

Phase One movies that weren't "wow" for me:
Thor
The Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 2

Phase Two movies that weren't "wow" for me:
Iron Man 3
Thor: The Dark World

Phase Two, Three movies that I'm not expecting much from:

Ant-Man
Doctor Strange
Thor: Ragnarok

Admittedly, last year I would have included Guardians of the Galaxy as one I had low expectation of. Either way, I suppose my excitement for Marvel movies is tempered with the failures of the past. I felt Iron Man 3 was better than 2, but it lacked the heart that one had (once again, IMO). The Incredible Hulk (which I just re-watched two weeks ago with my 10yr old son) was good, but only because we've been watching Agents of S.M.A.S.H. did he care (or I) care much about the Abomination or The Leader. I think Ruffalo is a good replacement - Norton didn't do it for me.

As to Ang Lee's movie, I didn't buy into the hate and though the cinematic presentation was different, I felt it delivered until his dad turned into a cloud. Then? Then it was stupid. Comparing the doctors, I felt Bana's cold delivery was better insofar as Banner had emotional issues and was played very well.

Wait... perhaps Dr. Connor is actually a Time Lord? He keeps changing how he looks. BBC tie-in? slywink

We're talking about gaming here, not human rights violations.  It's a hobby.  Something I do for fun when I have some extra time.  Sure it's fun to hang out and talk about it here (which I have continued to do for 15 years because I enjoy the company), but the word "serious" has never even crossed my mind.  I suppose that's my disconnect with this whole thing...everyone seems to be howling that this is some sort of large-scale, damning conspiracy that demands immediate attention, and I just don't see it that way at all.

When companies stop making games which appeal to me (which has already started happening, to a large extent), I'll stop buying games and move on to something else.

I think that is key.  If you donít have a vested interest in the future of the industry, then itís kind of pointless to argue either way, isnít it?  The idea that you can enjoy something until it goes away and then just move on seems kind of selfish.

When did I ever say gaming would go away?  I specifically said that when the games being made don't appeal to me personally, then I have no issues with walking away from the hobby.  I fail to see how that's selfish.

It's incredibly selfish - as in you choosing behaviours that serve only yourself.

This is not unfair, however. Selfish is not bad - the connection there is faulty. Most things we do (even gift-giving) roots to selfish behaviour.

Now, as to Publishers are the Enemy:

They front the money. They invest in developers. If you didn't have publishers, then every. single. game. would be indie. And that is a horrible thing (let's look at the vast number of games in the mobile gaming market).

Publishers need a way to justify investments, often to their share-holders. Applying an agregate score for a developers efforts isn't bad, per se - but using a single number to represent immersion, quality and (ultimately) value on both a sales and consumer interest scale is the flaw.

Good luck building a "these are required to submit to Metacritic" and having a requirement set of values to enter to be considered valid to affect metacritic scoring. Wait, you know what? They're big enough. This is something that could actually work.

IMDB is pretty sure that point is focal:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3498820/

That said, I never really much liked the story, and though I enjoy their movies, I can recall Marvels' failures too. Xmen Origins: Wolverine or X-men 3, perhaps?

Civil War is story about Cap. I'd rather see a combined cast for Secret Wars (unlikely, methinks) or the upcoming Infinity Gauntlet/Infinity War (the latter less so).
