Seriously, you are all going to hell.

I feel bad for the number 6 (I think). She'd obviously been crying, and these charges are pretty lame considering the government is doing NOTHING in protecting these women from being taken advantage of by the establishments.

You really think the "clubs" aren't saying Hit it or hit the road?

Clearly there are some questionable "stripper" material out there, but I've got to say I've known a few women go from a 4 to an 11 out of 10 with 20 min worth of makeup and a mirror. (no, that's not 20 min of ME drinking simultaneously you callous asses.. slywink )

And yea, I'm sure SOMEONE will make the joke #23 HAS a callous ass. (beat you to it, WBS)

I don't know that ALL of these women were strippers; it seems like it was a general sting op, and barbacks, bartenders, waitresses, dancers and (*clearly a few bouncers*) were caught in the net.

Seriously ... Exposure, Sale Alchohol... WTF??? Isn't that what they're SUPPOSED TO DO???

16166  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Jade Empire Load Times on: February 01, 2006, 08:13:04 PM
I enjoyed Jade Empire, although not the second coming; I felt it needed another year in the oven to be the game it needed to be.

To speed up load times, you could delete excess stuff off the HD, and maybe let it sit and run for a bit. I know some games will use idle time to start caching (Sea Dogs 2 errr Pirates of the Carribbean).

Or, fire the hamster in your xbox and get a sleek new hamster that has been soaking in anabolic steroids.)

They may be gay, but hey, they're making money.

And I think you expand that generalization to any "artistic" japanese game. Cripes, the FF series is knee-deep in androgeny it's a wonder that they even commit to using words like "he" and "she".

Try holding LT and RT down, and slightly release and then reapply (so you're in tuck mode). Seemed to work for me in those damned slalom events.

Fun game regardless of the cheesy storyline.

Also, if you read the Manual*, it looks like multiplayer was yanked last minute.

* yeah I know... Who the F* reads manuals??

One day, and I am not exagerating, I sat in the main town ALL day, about 16 hours, trying to get in a group, and could not find one.

I was a party-builder; I found that in-town rarely works. Camping near the hunting spot is far more effective. only *rarely* would I wait for someone who was in-town.

The problem with this "Beta" is that there are no higher level experienced people to answer stupid questions like "how do I get a chocobo?"

You *CAN* solo effectively ingame, as long as you're under level 12, or you have the Beastmaster profession. This means you need to get a job to lvl30 first, and THEN you can get the prestige jobs. BST have "pets", so the pet generally does most of the tanking. (think Hunter from the WoW games).

I've got to say that WoW held my interest less than FFXI did; the problem with this beta is that there is no tapestry of industry pre-woven, or the experience of high level characters working on their other jobs.

They should have just waited to release the game, and inject them into the existing servers. They should also offer character recoveries like they did with the "Return to Van'adiel" campaign last march.

[ corrected Beastmaster; I originally posted Ranger. As it turns out, memory DOESN'T serve me. slywink ]

I wasn't impressed with the demo. Too hectic. The insane speed and crashing in Burnout is supported by a simple arcade racing engine between. The whole rewind thing, vs turbo vs every-fucking-thing blowing up all the time ever kinda sucked.

16192  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / PS1 recommendations? on: January 17, 2006, 08:28:26 PM
I think those games would be fine for a 9yr old. Most of Castlevania is monster fighting, and tales of gruesome monster killing has been in childrens stories for as long as I can remember. This game is the best iteration of the series BAR NONE. It is a must-have title.

The FF Tactics would be lost on a kid unless they enjoy stuff like checkers or chess, as really it is fundamentally a strategy game first, and an RPG after. Vandal Hearts is a more linear game with a more compelling story IMHO.

Breath of Fire series is also a great game (along the lines of RPG, BoF 3 is where your character can morph into many different dragons based on combinations of gems). Along with FFVII, it is pretty kid-safe.

Parappa the Rapper is one of the first successful rhythm games for the PS1 and was a lot of fun. It is very kid-friendly.There'a also Umm Lammer Jammy. (never played it myself)

If you'd like games for yourself (more adult titles) I'd suggest a few such as MGS1 (I wasn't a big fan but there are tons of people who love it) and Syphon Filter (a cop in the future hunting down crooks / terrorists). Vagrant Story and Legacy of Kain as well as Soul Reaver are also high on the Must-Play Teen rated games.

The gamingtrend DB doesn't have PS1 games, so I'd recommend Game

16194  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth 2 coming for 360 on: January 17, 2006, 08:07:04 PM
Right analog to scroll the window view N/W/E/S. Left joystick to snap to centre and move the cursor around the screen. Hold RT to select troops under cursor. I dunno, I can see how it could work. Use the directional pad for cycling through home bases, or switching menus / menu items.

You still have LT, two shoulder buttons, four face buttons and select/start for interface controls. Oh, and joystick buttons too.

Rather than trying to build an interface based on 2 buttons and precision mobility, focus on the usability of the controller and reduce the reliance on pinpoint accuracy for the pointer.

side note : the multiplayer aspect would get tricky with the slowdown thing.

16196  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / PS1 recommendations? on: January 17, 2006, 04:02:49 PM
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night.

Best game on that system, IMHO.

You should also snag Final Fantasy 7 (FFVII) if you like RPGs, as it is a great game. I'd also recommend Final Fantasy Tactics. I miss that game.

Kings Field games were decent, and Twisted Metal games (2 was especially fun multiplayer).
16197  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / xbox 360 graphic mode question on: January 17, 2006, 04:02:08 PM
or you could get the 2405FPW (which I have  ) which runs 1920x1080 natively., and takes component in as well.

If you want to run it in HDTV mode, go to the setup blade on the dashboard and in the display, select the x720 resolution. (720p) and turn OFF the higher res option. Voila!

16200  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Jade Empire on: January 16, 2006, 03:58:52 PM
Beat it on Xbox initially, went with the Way of the Open Palm (as opposed to the cold survival of the fittest closed fist). There is also a more vendictive / cruel / evil behaviour which doesn't hold true to the closed fist.

I'd like to explore the closed fist, but I can't see myself playing twice in a row. I'm going to give myself another year and then MAYBE play it on the 360. We'll see.

As to combat, it was pretty awesome as long as you challenge yourself. There are easy roads through all combat, (jump behind-attack-dodge then lather-rinse-repeat) or you can truly use different styles.

The last boss fight was challenging if you didn't just keep freezing him, and offered many different death possibilities. smile
