Can't beat the demo.  I don't know what it is.  The first time I died because I was stupid early on.  The second time I died what I imagine is late in the demo past the landslide because those silvery-armoured goblins who can block ganged up and kicked my ass.  The game is going to need exhaustive checkpoints because I already don't feel like starting over again.  And yeah, your army filled up at the lead paint buffet before they came out to fight.  Stupid is as stupid does, and they don't do shit.

It's ok I guess.  I'm just running around hammering buttons.

K. Imagine if someone walked into Oblivion hammering buttons.

Read the controls and the combos. I died twice in the demo; and then I looked through the combos and the item equip stuff.

I load up the soldiers and then move forward, keeping them in defence (down on d pad). You need to kill guys to get red orbs, you need to use red orbs to get blue ones so you can use your big powerup attacks. Also, explore all the areas to get your good stuff.

I found that when fighting the harder guys, you actually need to block (which is pretty reasonable). Also the X,Y,Y,Y,Y combo is awesome (it's like Chun Li's hyper kick).

I'll drop some full impressions when I have time.

Quote from: "Scott"
I've never believed in 'fad' type diets, like Atkins, sorry Knightshade smile.  The only real way to lose weight is to exercise and eat less.

Atkins was a fad; high protein, fibre and raised fat diets have been around for a LONG time.

The thing is that a low carb diet is also known as another name : Hypoglycemic control diet. It prevents elevated blood-sugar, thusly reducing insulin levels and reducing ones chances of getting type 2 diabetes (IIRC).

Also, I used to weigh 365lbs (at 5'9"!) and I'm down to 247lbs. Exercise has had a part in it, but if you talk to any specialists in the dietary field, they will all tell you that your food intake has the biggest impact on weight loss.

I am a testament to that. I doubt I could get below 180lbs at my current frame (I've been in the gym 3-5 days a week for 1.25hrs with anaerobic training). I'm moving into having a separate cardio workout, but that's slow going. at my height, I'm a pretty thick. I'm bigger than my old pic put up way back when.

I "fell off" my high-protein diet about 1.5 years ago when I went to a dietician who recommended a "moderate" diet as you've suggested. To be fair I've tried to stick to the guidelines; but carbs do NOT fill you up. I am going back to the high-protein next week. I want to get down to ~220 by the end of the year. (and I'd like to be able to break my 315 bench-press ceiling).

Xbox 360 party genre game from Hudson arrives in the U.S. this holiday

Microsoft announced today that “Fuzion Frenzy 2” will make its way to store shelves in the United States this holiday. Published by Microsoft and developed by Hudson, “Fuzion Frenzy 2” is a party game for Xbox 360 set in space that combines futuristic arcade action, superior mini-games, tournament modes, and custom tailored games with online features such as multiplayer and customizable tournaments.

Players are able to create their own unique tournaments that can be shared on Xbox Live while building achievement points. Radical themes and characters utilize the visual HD technology of the Xbox 360. Gamers can also use tournament cards that are either won or given out to defeat their opponents in rank, select the next mini-game to be played, or choose their next destination planet.

“Fuzion Frenzy 2” offers a variety of 40 mini games that a wide audience can play. Players battle new tournaments on seven different planets by competing in games such as the Collision Collusion, Turbine Jumper, and Super Slam Dunk which is a advanced slam dunk shootout played in low gravity where players try to steal the ball from their challengers to score a slam dunk.

If they make this a $40 game, I'm in.

I was gonna say that Nintendo is so clearly the winnar of everything, everyone else has submitted.

Nintendo is the hobbits at the end of Return of the King. Everyone is bowing down before them in reverence...even those once divided by all the conflict.

In the book Sarumon enslaves the Hobbit race. The movie glazed over that.
15863  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / How do I make an external display the primary on a laptop? on: July 27, 2006, 12:40:17 PM
I assume you have the ext. monitor set up as a different display, and not just a "second display" of the same image.

To move your taskbar to a second display do the following (I assume XP):

  • Right-Click on the TaskBar >> Properties
  • Remove the "Lock the Taskbar" check >> OK
  • Click on the grey (gray in US terms) space on taskbar, and drag it to the other window.
  • Once you have it placed, repeat Step 1, and in Step 2 put the check back in.
  • [/list:o]

To actually set up the other window as primary, it would depend on your video card mfgr and their driver setup. It's likely found in Control Panel >> Display >> Settings Tab >> Advanced, however moving the Start Taskbar should accomplish what you set out to do. Windows should use the display with the taskbar as default.

15866  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Interesting article on Blu-Ray and HD-DVD on: July 27, 2006, 12:23:37 PM
First of all, the players *WERE* $1000+ for the pro-scan models. Comparing today's 480p prices with the 480i's of yesteryear is flawed. Hell, now we have upconverting players which apparently do pretty well.

As to the format wars, I'll throw my lot in with the HD-DVD. This isn't a Sony-Hate thing, or a Sony-Stupid-New-Format-that-goes-away-faster-than-UMD thing... it's for the functionality.

HD-DVD's, as I understand it, still give you the DVD option on the other side of the disk. Just because I buy one HD-DVD player doesn't mean I don't have any SDTVs with older DVD players. This is a big selling feature. (BC + portability and not having to buy the same movie twice). Also, the protective layer is thicker on the HD-DVDs (BR requires more meat and less bun, as it were). This also means that the BR disks can't add a DVD layer; effectively making it impossible to be backwards compatible.

Since HD-DVD is using new compression, whereas BR is MPEG2 (at this time) the space benefits for video playing is negligable. They're also having problems with producing BR disks, which means you're looking at a higher cost per disk (to buffer their wallets on mfgr failure rates).

Check out #183 blogcast on for more info on HD-DVD and BR. (yes, it's from MS, so there is a grain of salt; MajorNelson has an open invitation to BR to come on the show, unedited, to state their benefits. Thus far, no word on that).

That depends on whether you're using MS Networking or the client software for your NIC to control it.

What is the make and manufacture of your NIC?

Here's what you do with defaults (no WPA/WEP encryption, no other software except MS, no USB dongle with setup info, and no specified Network Key).
  • Right-click MY Network Places  >> Properties
  • Double-click on Wireless Network Connection >> View Wireless Networks
  • Choose "Set Up a wireless network for a home or small office" >> NEXT
  • Type in SSID name, select "Automatically assign a network key" >> NEXT
  • Select "Set up network manually" >> NEXT
  • Finish.
  • [/list:o]

There. You're done. If you have any exceptions to the settings above, the wizard allows you to enter them. Go to town. I'd offer some screenshots, but I doubt it's worth it for this question. biggrin

on a digital signal I'd have to agree. On analog, however (for instance speaker cabling) it is more important to have a better cable.

Oh, and who says I pay retail? biggrin

The reason I'm SURE of the 80%+ retail markup on ANY cable is cuz a buddy of mine works for visions... If I can't find the cable I want at the right price online (shipping, time restraints, yadda yadda) I'll pop in over there and pick some up for approx 50% discount. (and that's still paying cost+10%)

I got the Xbox1 monster cable (component w. optical cable) for 35USD. They were selling (for the pair) at approx 85USD.

Buying any name-brand product can be a ripoff, depending on what the competitors have to offer.

Seriously, do NOT use the ones that came with the VCR as your Component set though. I'll smack you myself.
