MS never intended this to happen; this is all per EA demanding that they host their own servers (it was the bargain struck back in Xbox1 days when EA refused to go Live).
(updated to clarify).

MS protects its user information; this is WHY EA Live service has its own disclaimer. It is between YOU and EA; MS is stepping back and saying "We'll transfer this over if you want us to".

My only complaint thus far is that a couple books (pillars and Soul of the fire) didn't really involve Richard all that much. That, and Terry's author picture makes him look like a tool.

I have the complete Rhino set (from a couple years ago).

You'd have to be a hard-core to get it (which I was).

at $50, I would have taken it. The only thing that Rhino did was remaster the sound and but in some decent CGI models for each disk.

It's not, after all, like their some kind of Vietnamese child labor sneaker sweatshop.

There is a HUGE difference... the vietnamese "children", a.k.a. anyone under 18, are becoming skilled labour and bringing foreign money into their country. This is part of globalization. Those kids used to work regardless of Nike, but now they have shoes on their feet and bicycles to ride. It may be a benefit to Nike's company right now, but it's also a BIG WIN for those communities to have those jobs. The people working there are making more money than they ever did. The only fault in that situation is the government and their lax labour / child-labour practices. I'm sure Nike wouldn't care if their employees were all adults, as long as they're seeing a discount in the wages from 1st world labour operations.

In EA, they're treating people who could earn just as much as they are with the company like shit. The fact that these people ARE protected by a "superior" labour law and are still being worked well beyond reason baffles me.

Vote with your wallet; only buy USED EA games unless it's a struggling franchise.

$35 for these X-230s seems like what I'd be looking for...

You have the following math to consider:

$52.99 / 5.1 = 10.39 per speaker
$35.00 / 2.1 = 16.67 per speaker

This means that, with the 360 audio routed through the PC, you could have 5.1 audio for pc, home theatre use and for games.
It would be the optimal solution.

Personally, I have had the 5300 (this is the updated version 5300e), and I now have the 5500 speakers

I'd probably want a 2.1 sound system for space and cash reasons, unless the 5.1 was the same or a very similar price.  Recommendations welcome.

that x530 is 79.99 CAD (~70USD). Any decent 2.1 system with a sub is going to run damn close to that.
Newegg has it for as cheap as 50USD

LE, allow me to don the "Voice Of Reason" +2 Wis hat here.

You are going to use it on both. Face it. Get the VGA cable for your monitor (and use DVI to the monitor for your PC). There are numerous screen resolutions it can do, and basically you are getting high-def. (720p is 1280x720, 1080i is 1920x1080 IIRC).

If you are going to have a buddy over, you're going to want to use the larger set. I don't know that the svideo is worth that time; you've already got the composite at no extra cost. the clarity you will get on your monitor will have you wanting to see it closer.

As to the bundle, don't go with PGR3 bundle... it's trade-in value is negligable. if it truly is the 360 KIT and not a card, that means you'll have an extra headset for your brother / friend who comes over and brings their account with them. (or a spare if you're harsh on your equipment)

Since you're in a dorm and you may want to get better speakers anyways, may I suggest running the optical out or the rca outs into your XFI input, and then get a decent set of speakers (perhaps something like the Logitech x530s if you want a 5.1 system) or a pair of long-wire / wireless earphones? The speaker option does require your PC be on (when do you turn yours off though?) but then both your PC and your computer benefit. Also, this means that the live headset isn't going to interfere with your voicecomm ability.

This games reminds me of Ninja Gaiden in so many ways... like how many dents I can make in the wall beside the TV from the flying controller.

It's gone down to a B for the save thing. Seriously, I've gotten to mission 6 (swamp) where they jump you around, and if you want your troops for the final battle you spend forever hunting them down and backtracking.

Also, I hate named chars. No one except you does damage to them, and your special orb attacks do almost NOTHING to them. And they block. And block. And hit, then block. When you think you've hit them, they jump back, fly forward and smoke you for critical damage even though you're wearing an item that protects from critical damage.

So that makes it a B- ... Nice.

The only thing Gold is good for is matchmaking and multiplayer gaming.

Frankly, I spend most of my time in the silver section of Live nowadays. (granted it's summer and I don't wanna get sucked into clans etc).
15711  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Ninety-Nine Nights: Anyone take the plunge? on: August 18, 2006, 03:08:55 PM

Video - Graphics are amazing, the blur effect is an enhancement. Very little pop-up noticed (faraway enemies are blurred and become more detailed as the distance closes.) My Glasses need replacing (getting some today, AAMOF) so when I sit a fair distance away I have problems seeing the chests in the distance and items.

Sound - Battle sounds are great, and so is custom music tracks (as I'm not too fond of the ingame music). Didn't pay too much attention to sound as of right now. I really don't mind the voices; there's a lot WORSE out there. I would give the voices a good rating (B+).

Controls - The controls in this game are WAY BETTER than the Dynasty Warrior franchise. You get some awesome strings for combos as well as different power attacks.

Gameplay - This is the big one folks. The gameplay in N3 is better than DW in every way possible. From on-the-fly equipment changes to ordering your troops, it all makes sense. The AI DOES actually do something, whereas the DW universe has more soldiers standing around than not. (which explains why the Chinese population dropped from 40+million to 16million in 120 years during the romance of the 3 kingdoms). Use "defend" to pull your troops back to isolate the opponents and get them out of melee combat. Hold your troops back and draw your foes into their own traps (like the stones etc). Use Attack to get them to charge into the opponents as well. Terrain plays a part in the combat, although not to the detail of the Total War series.

The hack-n-slash is varied, and all of your favorite combo build up. I found the game to be hard on the second level (the one included in the demo) as you don't have any powerups and your level is pretty low. go down the dead-end paths to get powerups ( the south-west one is a wash with only a cursed necklace which gives you -50% attack power). Get the 2nd and 3rd swords from this level (3rd is past the troll; let them battle it out while you go plundering chests! icon_twisted)

Inphyy is a fluid fighter, and although she doesn't really get the stopping power of her brother until the 3rd and 4th missions, she does really well. There is at least 6 characters to play in the game; I'm on the 6th mission ATM. See spoiler below.  eek

The only gripe I had initially is that there are no in-game saves, which artificially inflates the play time. Given that there is mission ratings though, I'd have to say it's fair to assume you are GOING to be playing them over again (one achievement is getting an A rating on all levels). The camera was fine, although YMMV based on what you're used to. The DW series didn't even let you pivot the camera manually (you had to block to center camera; in N3 you can do this as well).

Spoiler for Hiden:
Inphyy just slaughtered old, sick, women and children orcs ingame ... she's a vicious person filled with hatred.
I am not regretting this purchase one bit.
I give it a solid A for now; the game is designed as a single player experience... the only thing I would have liked to have seen is a live co-op mode as well.
