first of all, it's not "slipping up" watching porn or being comfortable with your sexuality.
Our western world shuns nudity and ignores violence. It's a really  retard system we've got going. It fucks people up when they're told that masturbation, intimacy and sexual contexts are BAD, BAD, BAD but the blowing off of someone's head can be funny (Pulp Fiction, for example). It's not that violence needs to be shut out, but it needs to be used, just as sexual contexts, where appropriate. The balance is way off, IMHO.

You look at countries like Germany where violent games are sometimes banned (as the violence is just for the sake of it) but where nudity is more commonplace. Hell, there are a ton of european countries that run stuff like Page 3 girls (topless models) in the daily paper.

Back on track here, though ... V for Vendetta is an awesome movie about the ruling class using fear as a control mechanism for the masses. Although the director maintains that he's not talking about the US and terrorism, it IS a very scathing view of why we allow freedoms to be hampered.

Of the list of movies I put up top, I would suggest V for Vendetta first. It would be RIGHT up your alley, with very little swearing, not a whole lot of violence and no nudity that I can recall. And it makes you think.

There's a line from Dogma that struck a note with me :
Quote
He said that faith is like a glass of water. When you're young, the glass is small, and it's easy to fill up. But the older you get, the bigger the glass gets, and the same amount of liquid doesn't fill it anymore. Periodically, the glass has to be refilled.

You have to question your faith, test it, question it, analyze it to truly grow spiritually. I don't follow any organized religion, or any denomination. I don't need a group of people telling me what I should or should not do. I know inside me what is right and wrong; I don't need some phantom "guilt" spurned by a bunch of people telling me what's right or wrong.

So here's some homework, Arkon :

1 - go get a working 360 so I can join the chromehounds gang.
2 - watch V for Vendetta
3 - watch Dogma
4 - watch Boondock Saints

Force feedback, on the other hand, is important.

Hmm....I wasn't aware there was a difference.
Please explain to the uneducated...i.e. me. retard

if your joystick were to have resistance rather than having the controller vibrate. If you were playing a flight sim and as you pulled back on the controller and it resisted due to the "forces" on your plane, that would be force feedback.

Rumble *can be* force feedback. Look at splinter cell's lockpick as an example.
15164  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Films that most frequently use the F word on: September 27, 2006, 10:37:48 PM
Boondock saints has almost no nudity. ( I think there's one scene in a strip club that has a dancers boob, other than that, nada.

It's a pretty good movie; it makes you think. Kinda like V for Vendetta.
15165  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Films that most frequently use the F word on: September 27, 2006, 12:31:25 PM
Arkon, I've enjoyed every movie you mentioned there. I even enjoyed the Princess Bride, Coccoon, Batteries Not Included and Krull.

BUT, the following movies are something you're missing out on (from that list) :

Casino 1995 - an amazing story about the fall of the Kingpin dynasties that ruled Las Vegas. VERY gritty.
Goodfellas 1990 - a classic mob movie.
Reservoir Dogs 1992 - Another action/suspense movie from Tarentino.
Pulp Fiction 1994 - A terrific blend of colorful characters and how they connect. Kinda like an anger-based "Love Actually".
The Boondock Saints 1999 - Story of religious-born vigilantism against mobs. Excellent stuff, lots of humour.
Suicide Kings 1997 - A terrific who-dun-it.
Monster 2003 - A different perspective of a killer. It allows you to empathize with her, even though your judgement dictates that what she's doing is wrong.
Platoon 1986 - Ugly side of war.
Trainspotting 1996 - The street-life of junkies, and how transitional life is.
Training Day 2001 - Terrific movie. I don't want to say anything about it. Just see it.
Sexy Beast 2000 - A movie where a retired bank-robber is brow-beaten to do one last job. Turn on the subtitles.
Dogma 1999  - The point of this flick is the religious message that has all the humour wrapped around it.

There are others there worth watching; I am not saying they are bad at all, they just didn't "do it" for me as much as these did.

PS2 sounds interesting, we've never had one, but I do hear the games are fantastic.  What about HDTV?  We have no intention of going to HDTV for awhile, will my Xbox360 experience be soured?  The best I can do right now is a 800line 35" CRT w/Component Cables.   tear

Since you have component cables at least you'll get some awesome SD picture.

As to HD, games still look awesome. Since you don't have HD, you're not spoiled either. Don't fret that.

I'm thinking the cost of media will drive ps3 prices higher than 360 games; BR disks will undoubtedly cost more (factoring in both % failure as well as the media being less plentiful than the standard DVD disks ... there's also the factory upgrade losses that companies have to account for etc. etc. etc.).

That's not to say I won't buy a PS3 come launch day. Whether it stays in my home beyond a day or gets ebay'd has yet to be seen.

They have X06 next week. I doubt they're going to blow their load all today.

If they are going to debase and rock the h/w platform of the Sony boat, it's going to be more than one wave.
15190  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: 360 will support 1080p! on: September 20, 2006, 06:16:07 PM
Since we've noted that 1080p doesn't NEED double the bandwidth (using television's 3:2 pulldown), all that really means is that the sets that can output 1080p will be able to do so with the signal provided, right?

I think the output from the 360 isn't analog until it hits the bulkhead connector; the VGA (which are admittedly analog high density 15 pin) are able to alter screen resolution. The fact that the 360 knows what kind of cable is plugged in, and can select SD vs HD on the cables leads me to believe that the cable portion can handle the higher throughput (even if it IS analog going into the cable).

Look at it this way : we don't know what the max data throughput is from the 360 to the cable itself (MS's proprietary bulkhead connector). If they include tech in the cable to convert 1080p analog to digital outside the 'box, it doesn't matter as long as it hits the TV using HDMI / DVI D etc...).

I'm sure this was a consideration as to why MS didn't just put component out jacks on the back of the 360; that would have been the cheapest way to go at implementation time. I believe these upgrades are not reactional to Sony; they were looking at BD vs HDDVD whilst they were building the 360. It should come as no great surprise if they made backroads to be able to accomplish step-ups that in previous consoles were unattainable without a complete hardware upgrade.

Mmmhhhmm. Okay. Thanks for playing.

These "furs" are fur people who want to see general consensus, and are fluid enough to change if longer playtimes = better or worse scoring.

I don't want betas, demo's etc. If people choose to do so, that's their business. I'm not policing it; I've provided the guidelines.

As it stands this would be better integrated into the site and I hope it does make it in some form into GamingTrend.

If you don't see value in it, then don't read / contribute.

Impressions are for reading. This is a "Glance system" with 3-4 positive points, 3-4 negative points (if you even want to put that).

Its a quick way to be heard and low commitment to contributing.
