Their bait is an 18+ year old that looks younger.  She's usually only in sight of the target for like 5 seconds before she heads to the back room.

I wonder if the suspect could use that as an argument.....

Mine just died. No red rings, the console just freezes randomly. I unplugged everything for a few minutes and tried turning it on with only the bare minimum, no games, no network, no hard drive, no controller. Same things. Makes a loud hising noise then freezes. I have the extended warranty with them and they are sending me a shipping box, BUT they said the turn around time is 3-5 business WEEKS!!!! WTF? That is crazy...

Oh, also, with the mini-map thing, even though there are no plans for it..... Multi Monitor support would go nioce with that. Even multi-monitor support without the mini map would be nice. I can drag all the menus to a separate monitor and use the main screen for the game.

Also, dragable menus would be nice, even without the multi-monitor support.

1) I would like to offically request that all current and future posts regarding recommendations to purchase games be banned.. I really didn't need to spend $45... slywink
2) Things I think this game needs from the little bit I have played it:

1) A mini map, with a couple levels of zoom. Solar System, Region, Whole thing for example. Mini map should have flashing "combat" icons to show your conflicts and allies conflicts, preferably in different colors.
2) Time Acceleration. There are times when the game is SLOW. I went to bed and left it running to gather resources. It was nice when I woke up though. smile
3) Colony ships should have a speed upgrade available at some point.
4) A clickable alert list, so that if an ally calls for help and you miss it, you can click to go there. Also in the same note, on the mini map when you click it, it should show the path from your currently selected planet to the alert so you have an idea where it is. (I made a LARGE map on my first game)

I haven't really seen this, but have heard of it.... Do they actually get the guy to ask for sex or something? If sex is never brought up in the conversations, could they still be charged?
Also is this show entraping people in any way?

Ever since they stopped lifetime membership I gave up on Tivo. Once my current Tivo with lifetime dies, I'm completely done with it.
Right now I built my own "Tivo" I have a PC with one single and one dual tuner and I'm using the beyond TV software for it. I can record up to 3 shows at once and I only had to pay a one time fee for the software.

Real predictions/guesses....

Spoiler for Hiden:
  • Snape IS good
  • Either Dumbledore planned on Snape killing him or Dumbledore used a Substituion-Jutsu and isn't dead
  • Snape will die. Either defeating Voldemort or saving Harry
  • Ron/Hermonie & Harry/Ginny Hook-up both imply marriage for the next book or something
  • I think Harry is the one to defeat Voldemort, but it's possible someone else does.
  • I think that Malfoy turns out to be a hero of some sort. He may be one of the ones killed though.
  • I think one of the Dursley's might get killed. Maybe the parents, but I actually like their characters
  • I think that there may be implications that Harry becomes Headmaster eventually
  • I hope Snape gets to finally teach Defense against the dark arts. Then sucks at it...

Spoiler for Hiden:
Turns out that Snape had an affair with Lilly and is really Harry's Dad. It also seems that Hermonie is Harry's sister and that she was addopted by the Muggles to hide her, which explains where she gets her talent from. Ron hooks up with Hermonie and hint on marraige. Padfoot comes back as a ghost, as does Dumbledore and they tell Harry that he must defeat Snape and Voldemort. Harry feels sorry for Snape and what his father did to him and tries to win Snape back over. At the end, when Voldemort is about to finally kill Harry, Snape intercepts the spell just as he hits Voldermort with one and they both die. Meanwhile, Ron and Hermonie conjur up a large pack of ferrets and use them to defeat all the Death Eaters. At the end, Snape comes back as a ghost with Dumbledore and Padfoot, while the Weasly twins shoot off fireworks.....

TE: So what is the actual lawsuit - in layman's terms?

RN: The actual lawsuit is Hernandez v. IGE. We filed it in Miami, where IGE has offices. In layman's terms, the core of the complaint is a consumer class action for unfair trade practices. Guys like Tony [Hernandez, the plaintiff] have paid their $15 for some entertainment, and IGE is polluting that entertainment. It's kind of like, if someone pays for a ticket to go see a movie, and if someone else comes in behind them and kicks their seat, you can get them to stop doing that. We're just trying to get IGE to stop kicking the seats. This is not unlike other consumer complaints where someone has paid for a service, and someone else is interfering with it. It's really very simple.

I think they can counter analogize with MMOG are more like a buffet. We each paid to get in and eat all we can. You can't sue the people who decide to eat 3 times their body weight.

I am pro-guns, but if there were some magical way to completely and absolutely ban arms of all sorts world-wide, I would be for it.

As for the C&C places, I feel that it lowers crime because most criminals prey on the weak. If there is a high likelyhood that their victim may also be carrying a firearm, they may think twice about it.

Also, won't we all feel silly when we find out the constitution had a typo and it really says the right to bare arms?

I don't know about this now. From the looks of things, McLaine is all super hero now. This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it makes the movie look even dumber than I figured it would be. But then the jet plane comes in and blows shit up and I get all happy again in that special way. What can I say? The power of the American military makes me jump for joy.

It looks like the Military is the "bad guy" though since it seems they are shooting at McClain...

You don't as far as I know. That was only a Vanguard thing to the best of my knowledge.

WoW never had this. Well, there was a little symbol that pops up when you're near a quest turn in, but nothing that directly guided you. And I never played SWG, so who knows.
Really? I haven't played for a while, but for some reason I remember little dots on the outer ring of the map or something. Maybe I am thinking of a different game?

However, you may run into problems in the future if you do switch. When I put in the Best Buy pre-order key it actually came up as Best Buy on my account, so I don't know what would happen if you ended up using a BB key for Beta and then an EB key for retail....They may be tracking it and where you pre-order is where you have to get the retail version for the Founder's stuff...

Ouch. Gonna suck to be you when everything goes completely digital in about 3 more years, assuming they stay on schedule this time.

Once again I'll chime in for the dlink 5300 (or the 5100 if you dont want the wireless). It's definitely done a standup job for me, although if you want to explore the custom firmwares, you're probably better off going with something like the linksys.

Another alternative would be to dedicate a box and run something like http://m0n0.ch/wall/ ... I'm thinking this would be the ultimate in control for your network, but the most difficult to setup. I have no experience here, your mileage may very biggrin

Atomic

Yeah, even though I have an HDTV, I kinda disagree with the government forcing it on everyone... but hopefully by then there we be a cheaper solution....

As for the dlink 5300, how many spots does it give for Port forwarding? That is my only problem with the linksys. I have thought about setting up a PC based router, but it is more likely for an old pc to die than it is for a "regular" router.
1312  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Router help on: March 30, 2007, 12:03:48 AM
you only get one IP from cable (and most home providers) so a router is a must.

As for FIOS, I wanted an all in one solution (TV, Internet and phone). FIOS does offer this BUT, for the TV part you need a box on every receiver/TV/VCR/TIVO/etc... if you want to get anything other than the broadcast channels (CBS, NBC, ABC, etc..)... No Sci-Fi, Cartoon network, etc.. without a box. They also charge you for the boxes. I added it up and I would need about 11-12 boxes!! (2 TIVO's, a media center with 3 tuners, 5 TV's, 3 VCR's, etc...) With cable, I can get everything except the paid channels (MAX, TMC, etc) which I don't subscribe to anyway, without a box. That made the choice easy. If they had given me the boxes for free I might have considered it, but even then it would have been a REAL pain for configuration.

I liked V and still do. I also also looking forward to the continuation of it this fall in book form and hopefully in TV form as well....
1315  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Router help on: March 29, 2007, 05:40:41 PM
The only thing I really need is more port forwarding options. I have run out due to multiple PC's with multiple programs. When I had Verizon FIOS, the router they had was pretty much unlimited, but since I had to turn that in when I switched back to cable, I am using my Linksys. If I could find a new decent router with unlimited port forwards for around $100 I would probably get one. It's not important enough for me to spend $200+ on though.

If you're a founder, and you choose the $200 option, you're saying that you expect to be playing the game for at least 20 months (at $9.99 a month).

If you think you'd like that, and can pull the trigger (unfortunately, I can't), it's a good deal.
Well, I picked up the pre-order today. I don't think I can actually sign up until the final version so that gives me a month to see if me or my son like the game at all.

I wasn't going to get this as I don't have a lot of time and didn't really want another monthly fee, however, when I signed up for the open beta, I found out anbout the Founder's option that is $199 Lifetime. The thing is though, I can't really find any details on this or if there is a "catch" or anything. Even if I don't play too often, having a lifetime subscription means I don't need to worry about monthly payments if this is actually what it is. Has anyone signed up for this and when do you actually get this option?

Couple of things.....

1) I really liked this episode. For some reason I particularly liked Lee's speech. I also liked the ending with the song in space.
2) We don't really know that they are Cylons as we know them. Maybe they are (along with Starbuck), but my first thought is the Lords of Light. Perhaps that's actually what they are, but they all decended back to human form as babies or whatever and now that they are nearing the nebula, their true forms are starting to come out. Even though the Chief says they are Cylons, it seems more like he is just guessing as they have no other explanation. (and actually, I think the President may be a Cylon, which could explain the shared dream).
3) Guilty or Not Guilty, I think Baltar is pretty much screwed....
4) 2008? WTF?
5) After reading the interview...
5A) BSG is getting low ratings? I thought it was the opposite?
