Just pre-ordered through D2D. One thing I found out visiting the forums(that I could only visit AFTER pre-ordering)is that D2D customers don't get the "head start" perk that is being offered.
Baffles me as to why.......Pre-order is pre-order, no?

Anyway, if you want to get a 3 day jump on everyone else(for the usual reasons we do in a MMO..name reserves, get out of the newbie areas before the onslaught) don't pre-order through D2D

Only Gamestop and Best Buy are offering the early entry.....

I love that my powerful PC allows me to play games at high framerates but damned if I don't get annoyed by the occasional sharp drops when I make 180 degree turns and so on. Is there a program that allows you to effectively cap the framerate for every game that you play? I would much rather set my games to a more balanced 40fps cap.

I'm having a similiar problem in FO3... I have everything maxed out and when I am running around the game works fine until...BAM....it freezes for about 1-4 seconds..... It happens just enough to be annoying...

Using the NewEgg PSU calculator : http://educations.newegg.com/tool/psucalc/index.html

It says you will need 668W

You could try going with a 700 or 750, but you might as well have a buffer....

As for the monitor/keyboard/mouse.... I didn't realize. You can get a decent keyboard/mouse for $50 and a decent monitor for around $200 maybe less.. Just have to look for sales.

PC with a 360 gamepad. Best of both worlds.  smile

Except my 42" TV is bigger than my 22" monitor... so if the controls are better for a gamepad, then I'd be more inclined to just get it for the 360 to begin with.

Just sit closer to your screen...

Does anyone know if the PhysX being used is the original or just the Nvidia version. (They are different I think, even though Nvidia bought them). The reason I ask, is that I have a PhysX card in my older gaming rig and if it makes a difference I'd take the time to move it....

The other thing I'd be concerned about for the Lifetime buy is what if the game, in spite of how much I personally like it and/or having a big name behind it, just doesn't do well (Tabula Rasa anyone?)?  Now Cryptic has a decent track record and CoH has set a good standard for superhero MMORPGs, but it's hard to tell these days who will survive and for how long.  Coincidentally the only lifetime sub I ever did was with....  drum roll, Hellgate London!  And now I'm back again with Bill Roper lol.

Yeah seriously...

I'm really surprised by the poll results so far, I don't see how *anyone* can consider paying for a lifetime sub to any MMO other than WoW.  Especially one that you haven't even played yet.

Can anyone explain the reasoning behind that.  For real, not being sarcastic.  I just see it as way too risky considering 75+% of MMOs these days end up going the way of the dodo.  Either that or they are just flat-out underwhelming.

What if you HAVE already played it? smile

I bought it based on the fact that I don't stick with games too long...This would seem to contradict getting a lifetime sub, but I keep revisting  LOTRO every so often and I don't have to worry about buying 3 months or so here and there. The game is paid for I can play whenever I want (as long as it is running)...
Yes Champions is a risk, as are any other MMOG's, but if it does last, then getting in now makes sense. There's no way to know if they will offer it again....
Plus my son can log in and play as well, so it can get use...

Noone else tried, but do you need this? If not, I'm gonna post in Steals and Deals... This may have gotten buried... I'd like to give it to someone without an account...

I definitely could use it Punisher and would be most grateful for it. I applied for the beta months ago, but still haven't received my invite yet. frown

Actually it's one key per account.... So if you buy 5 retail copies, you can't get a 5 month subscription, you'd have to setup 5 different accounts...

Is it all the PC's?
Is the router G or N? If N, what frequency?
Does it disconnect all PC's at the same time?
Did you change the SSID to something unique?
Are you using encryption?
Are you using the manufacturers wireless software or letting Windows control it? (I recommend Windows)

I bought the lifetime sub for LOTRO and I stopped playing after a while, but I keep going back. This happens with a LOT of games for me.. I lose interest and then get it back... For $200, I'll probably end up getting this now just to have...

Is lifetime only available when you pre-order direct from Cryptic?
1100  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: D&D Online Free to Play! on: August 03, 2009, 12:18:26 PM
I think the game was made first and foremost for the tabletop players...If it wasn't true to that, they would have gotten a lot more complaints....

I picked up the full game at GS for $5 yesterday, gonna give it a try and it doesn't sound like there will be a wipe (unless I missed it somewhere), so I can get a head start...I'm also going pick up another copy and see if the product key will let me extend the subscription. If it does, I may just clean them out....I did this with the COH/COV game cards at Comp when they closed. I still have about a year or twos worth of those...

I think the disclaimer is mostly because a lot of people complained when it was found out that those survivor man type shows received help and it wasn't mentioned. Pretty much all "reality" shows have people to help.
I think Chaz is correct, it is mostly for emergencies that they help or if it looks like the people are really about to blow themselves up.

I don't think anything is added to the warehouse that wasnt there at the beginning, just the outside stuff.

As for Michael, I saw this week's episode and yes he is a dick, and yes he is trying to be a martyr, and yes he does have some useful things to say, but I think that if this was real, he would be on the way to being banished or killed by now. Take the gasifier thing (which is really neat and something I'll have to file away for the real apocolypse). He kept making a scene and saying they had a bomb and saying that just because they have engineering PHD's they think they know what they are doing....and then it does end up working and he's like, oh ok, so they got one thing working, what now?....He's a dick... For someone with limited education, he’s quite opinionated. Michael is a conspiracy theorist and complete pessimist. He claims, "I always knew there was something wrong with the world", "Nancy Pelosi is the anti-Christ", and "the space program wasn’t for exploration," implying it was to armor space for World War III.

Wow. So these are the types of people we have to deal with after the apocalypse...... I think Michael should be sent out for some supplies...alone.....

Can you upgrade to Win7 on Netbooks?

yes

Don't think that would be a good idea though. Most (all?) Netbooks come with XP for a reason... They just aren't very powerful...

They come with XP because Microsoft charges about $15 for Asus and other companies to put XP on them and people didn't like them much when they shipped with Linux.

Windows 7 run perfectly on my Asus 1000HE.  I've been running it since the RC released and there's been no problems.  It's just as fast as XP on mine (but I went ahead and bumped the RAM from 1 to 2GB).

Microsoft was very smart designing Windows 7 to work just fine with netbooks.
Really? I'm quite surprised at this.... Bery interesting..
