I wonder if there are any theories that no one dies. There are several ways this could realistically happen. Sudden walker heard or maybe they somehow manage to get the upper hand. Who knows, but it's an acceptable outcome if you ask me. They somehow escape and the stage is then set for total war.

If that were to happen, the shark would have jumped so hard, it'd be in orbit.
You have just described the plot for Sharknado 10.

This seems odd to me:
NVIDIA GPU: GeForce GTX 780 or GeForce GTX 1060

Recomended goes from 780 to 1060 and bypasses the 800/900 series or does this mean anything in between?

Were you invisible? My issue was like yours but couldn't see the arms/hands and weapon like usual. Couldn't fire. I COULD interact with vehicles and get in them, but when I got out, was invisible again. So bizarre.

German pal said when he could find a weapon on the ground to pick up, boom, then he was finally visible/normal again.

I know "it's beta" but I can't really provide feedback when I'm "inviso man."  icon_razz
Now that you mention it yeah, I was invisible ...
Vehicles worked, buying a weapon gave you that weapon only. Couldn't pick one up because I was never near someone who got killed and couldn't kill them myself.

Aah, I see.  I haven't often lived near a Microcenter so I wasn't aware of that policy.  That's a pretty good deal, especially if the employees are recommending it like that!  I wouldn't mind getting full price back for a 2 year old videocard.
Yep. It's the only reason I have 2 good cards... Started way back, bought a decent one, then when it was time to return, I had saved enough to buy a high end card and have been doing thast ever since. Usually I get whatever is around the $500-$700 mark at the time and if I need to pay a little more, no big deal. You have to buy the warranty again, but it's worth it. I can basically get a GTX 1080 for about $200 out of pocket...
6  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: looking for video card advice on: September 05, 2016, 01:36:33 AM
Well. It is a sort of trade in. I get my cards at Microcenter and ever since I first bought one from them years ago, I was told to buy their warranty and then to just return it under warranty to the store for a refund and get a new one. I have been told this NUMEROUS times by various employee's and managers over the years. It sounded odd to me, but it has been working for years.
It came about because I bought video cards with lifetime warranties and said I didn't need theirs if mine already came with a lifetime one...
So every time the warranty is about up I do a  "trade-in" and get something new. I currently have 2 cards from them with different purchase dates which is why I have the options I mentioned.

Blackjack... You can use warbonds to purchase new weapons. It seems you can only do this while connected to a game. Before you deploy, you select your common loadout/play style at the bottom, then to the left of that is a customize option that you can use to go buy other things.
9  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / looking for video card advice on: September 04, 2016, 06:26:49 PM
I currently have 2 GTX 980's in SLI.
1 is ready for a trade-in in Oct, the other is ready some time next year.
I should get about $550 for each one.
My choices are:
1) trade-in the one for Oct and get a 1080GTX for about $150 extra. Do the same next year when the other one is due, but 1080GTX prices will probably go down by then.
2) Trade-in both in Oct and "lose" the extra time for the second one, but use the money towards a Titan X and spend about $150 more.

Rig is used primarily for gaming. Monitors are 23" running at 1920x1080. One of the monitors is 120Hz so that I can use my Nvidia 3D glasses (although I don't actually use them too often anymore).
Secondary use is for 3D artwork/rendering and relys on CUDA a lot.

Any thoughts?

Played this for a little last night and rather enjoyed it.  The battlefield map spawning interface is pretty awesome.  Horses were cool, too!
Can you elucidate about the battlefield map spawning interface?

That's a fancy pants word I learned from an Iron Man comic book featuring Doctor Doom.  icon_smile

I don't recall seeing this implementation before in a battlefield game, but when you are in the spawn screen, you have a birds eye view of the whole battlefield and where your available spawn points are.  Maybe shows conflicts too?  You can select your spawn area and it zooms in from the aerial view right into your viewpoint.  It's a more dynamic implementation of the standard spawn map you see in online shooters.  I thought it was cool.
Yes, I do believe that you can see the battles. You can also see the real time status of each capture point and all of your allies, so you can get an idea of whats going on and choose your spawn point better. I originally had no intention of getting this but after playing for a while last night, my interest has grown..

So, this year I am actually starting on a costume two months early!   icon_biggrin  I haven't really done much costume making in the past (and least not since I was like 12), but I'm trying to make a general wastelander outfit from Mad Max/Fallout/etc.

Has anyone else done cosplay or made their own costume before?
First of all, it's never too early! there are people who start their costumes as soon as the current halloween is over.
I have always wanted to do this. I have multiple pieces in my basement for a Mandolorian costume, but just never have the time or room to do it. Someday I will though. I did buy a custom Boba Fett costume years ago and wore it for about 3 years, but then it got screwed up in a flood.. was very upset at the time.. frown

Maybe he felt like he had to differentiate himself from Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor.

A part of me wonders if switching actors roles may have been better.. Jesse as joker, Jared as Lex... At minimum, Lex couldn't get any worse..

Yes. The stupid .net4 was tripping me up. I didn't want to use my ASUS disk because the USB drivers are bad. But the SSD wouldn't let me connect to the web. So I booted up the old drive and put it on a thumb drive and put it on the SSD. Then it wouldn't run it saying I already had it. Roll Eyes So I bit the bullet and used the disc. Sure enough, when it was done all my USB's were dead. But this time I was ready with a PS2 mouse, and set up a virtual keyboard, downloaded the updated driver and I was set. Then I updated everything because the MOBO is 2 yrs old and it's not like those drivers were fresh then anyway. Then I decided to roll over to Windows 10 because I want DX12, even though I don't need it yet.  That went seamlessly, but I had to learn where MS moved everything Tongue I love the drive. It is a quite noticeable difference. Only thing, I thought switching between drives or dragging stuff over would be simple. I must not understand something. So if I can't do that, my storage went from 2T to 512GB, which after the partition and stuff I put on it is down to 360. It's still more than worth it, I just have to be somewhat careful.
Moving files/docs/pics/etc.. are simple to move.
Keep in mind though, that you can't move any programs and these need to be reinstalled from scratch.

I have the old drive in. That's how I'm connected now. Just have to get the network driver on the SSD. Silly me thought the OS would have some basic functionality.

If you are booting into your old drive and can get on the Internet and you have your SSD as a secondary drive, just make a folder on the SSD called drivers and download the network and video card drivers there. It is good to do both because if you don't load the video drivers, some websites will be unusable.
Also make sure to extract any zipped files that you download just in case you cant unzip them on the ssd.

28  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: SSD's on: July 20, 2016, 01:43:53 AM
You cant really copy drivers over from another PC unless you had the installers saved. You will need to download them from the Internet on another computer unless you have the driver disc for your motherboard..
This is why I recommended above to download the network and video drivers before starting.. with those you can get the rest.

Also, it's more work, but you can always put your old drive back in, boot to old OS, then download to flash drive, then take old drive out and put ssd back in.

The wife and I saw this on Friday and both liked it a lot.. Same thing with the audience...
I do think that if the original never happened, this would have received a more positive buzz, but I still felt like they did a really good job.
I'd say that the only thing I would have liked as a fan would have been a sequel with this cast instead of a reboot.. Could have been a handing over of the reigns thing and may have appeased many of the people who discarded this because it wasn't.

Until the MOBO drivers that came on the DVD from ASUS were corrupted and loaded then turned off all of my USB's. Considering my keyboard and mouse are USB it took me a while to figure out how to get back in to fix it.
It can definitely be scary if you are not used to it. I've been in IT for over 20 years so it's old hat now, but I can definitely see a difference in performance. I know some people that will do a nice clean install, update Windows and all drivers, then make an image of the PC if they need a clean install later on..
If you make sure to download and save the network card and video card drivers prior to the clean install it helps a lot. With those 2 you can get online and download other things you need and also look online for help.

I will say that if you are up for it, a clean install is better than a clone. Over time Windows gets all messy and a nice clean install helps. I generally try to do one every 2 years give or take.

In the campaign you reach checkpoints during the levels where the game saves and if you exit that is where you restart, you can't just save at any point.  You can go back and replay any level to pick up missed items if you want but all the monsters will have respawned.  One thing I ran into was reaching certain checkpoints in a level and not being able to go back to earlier sections due to doors closing behind me and so not being able to get items I missed unless I restart the entire level.
ah ok. So if I think I need to cut the game short, it is best to do so right after I get a checkpoint saved notice it sounds like. I'll have to keep an eye on that then. Not sure where I left off..

My only "complaint" is about the hugeness of the levels.  It creates a similar problem that I had with the recent Wolfenstein games where I really love it, but I need to make sure I set aside enough time to play through a level in one go (or at least where I know I'll be able to follow up the following night).  If you stop midway through, you have to kind of get back into the flow of the map, which can actually add a lot of time to the next play.

I know it's not really fair to complain about that, but it makes it hard to jump into the game sometimes.

So far I play it in little sessions and haven't had an issue with the largeness of the levels.  I haven't really felt lost yet.  I just clear a few waves and quit and return when time permits to do the same.  That being said, I only just now made it to level 6.

Maybe it's just me.  I remember doing the foundry and coming back to it even the next day, scratching my head trying to figure out where I was and where I'd been.

Are you aware that the map sort of shows you where you have been and not been?
