You know, I too have wifi "shit" off and noticed that in sleep mode, my battery was drained in about two days on a fairly new dsi. I was surprised at that.

Crap, realized this morning that I typed the wrong price!!! Should be $100 shipped for both.

6  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Kingdom Hearts : Birth By Sleep - Summer on: September 15, 2010, 02:26:13 PM
I just picked this up last night at Target who had it for $29.99 when every other store had it for $39.99.

Having never played a Kingdom Hearts game before, will I be missing anything major in the story? Should I find recaps online of the other KH games in order to "get" this game?
Looking forward to diving into this one.
7  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PSN]Final Fantasy IX now complete,due soon on: June 22, 2010, 01:28:09 PM
So I've been out of the PSP scene for a while. I was thinking of grabbing a reurbed PSP1000 from Gamestop for $100 - will I be able to download and play from a memory stick with that model? I see Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and IX, I am dying to replay these!
8  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: DSi XL Impressions on: April 12, 2010, 06:15:42 PM
Thanks Freezer. The ghosting sounds more like what I was seeing then since I fired it up at lunch and didn't notice the card game image in the background. PHEW!

Still lovin' this little machine!
9  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: DSi XL Impressions on: April 12, 2010, 02:22:11 PM
I'll join the conversation. I picked up a Bronze XL last week after owning all other versions of the DS system and I cannot tell you just how thoroughly impressed I am with the screens. I stopped in at Gamestop this weekend and they had a demo display running an XL next to a DSi and I can't believe I sat on my couch for all these years playing on those tiny screens.

Word of caution though, I spent several hours Saturday night playing the Voltorb Flip card game on Pokemon Soul Silver trying to nab enough coins to get the Dratini. Anyone familiar with the game, knows that the card game shows a static image on the top screen. So, after completing that task and running around playing the game - I notice some screen "burn-in" on the top screen  mad Hopefully it'll work itself out or might try and exchange it!
10  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: DSi XL Impressions on: March 31, 2010, 02:26:30 PM
Please keep the impressions coming! I had one of the bronze units on pre-order and canceled it and picked up a black dsi because I was nervous about the size and the pixellation of the graphics.

I am willing to part with my dsi and grab one of these, IF it seems worth it.

Also, if it's not too much - can anyone with average size hands take a photo of holding on to the unit so I can get an idea of the size? I really can't believe that Nintendo hasn't put demo units in stores!

12  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Counterfeit items on Ebay - advice? on: February 02, 2010, 02:52:42 PM
Thanks Canuck - you sound like my wife  slywink

I have to give them 48 hours to respond I suppose - according to the disclaimer on Ebay when I sent them a message through their system. That expires later this afternoon. I will most likely escalate it with Paypal then. Not too worried about the shipping since they shipped them for free to me - so I'll only lose out one way.

Thanks for all of the input - off to buy an Authentic Ugg Kidney that has a great "Buy it Now" price!
13  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Counterfeit items on Ebay - advice? on: February 01, 2010, 05:05:36 PM
The seller has a 98.2% feedback rating - I was able to find one other person who bought Uggs from them and they left positive feedback.

I am sooooo kicking myself right now!!
14  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Counterfeit items on Ebay - advice? on: February 01, 2010, 03:21:41 PM
Has anyone had any luck disputing an auction purchase through Ebay or Paypal?

In a stupid moment of impulse, I purchased a pair of UGG boots for my wife's birthday on Ebay just to save around $15. They arrived over the weekend and they are clearly fakes based on a lot of the information I am seeing on the UGG Australia website (they have an entire "How to Spot Counterfeit Uggs" section).

I re-checked the auction and while the seller doesn't claim that the item is authentic, they do claim to be genuine - same difference in my opion. The seller has yet to respond to my request for a refund - they do say in the auction terms that they will refund for a merchandise credit, which I don't want. I want my damn money back! Should I have an issue - have any of you had to go down this road with either Paypal or Ebay?

Ugg (Ugh, Get it?)

OK, so here's a dumb question - I am considering an iPod Touch, do all of the apps work on the touch as well? Understandably, certain apps, such as Pandora, may not work unless in the presence of wifi. I am seeing and hearing about a bunch of cool things the touch can do and am intrigued about having my main mp3 player also be a portable web communication device while on the john.

So, to be nosy - what's the average monthly bill with an iPhone? Work has offered to either buy me the iPhone and I pay the bill, or I buy the actual iPhone and they pay the bill for a year. I know which one will end up costing me less, but after one year, I am stuck paying my monthly At&t bill with the iphone.

26  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Has anybody ever flown with a bad cold? on: January 06, 2009, 02:19:09 PM
Last week of October 2008, I flew from Cleveland to Philly (moderately short flight) with a pretty decent cold starting. All was well until about 35 minutes into the flight when I started experiencing excruciating pain in my sinuses. It felt like someone was driving a cold blade right below my eyes. That only lasted about 10-12 minutes though as the plane started losing altitude for its approach.

I could see where I would've been in a whole ton of trouble had it been a longer flight.
27  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Final Fantasy IV First Impressions (DS) on: October 13, 2008, 02:45:59 PM
I beat this by cheating  disgust

I've NEVER beaten a Final Fantasy game (other than the craptacular Mystical Quest for the SNES) and had invested too much time to not make it through.

Once I hit the Tower of Zot, I pretty much relied on a FAQ from Gamefaqs by SBAllen, it was indispensable in providing the appropriate strategies for each type of monster and boss. It worked so well, that I pretty much cake-walked through the remainder of the game - even the final dungeon and boss battle.

Good game, but when an FAQ becomes a crutch, it prevents me from enjoying the FULL experience.

I just picked up DQIV, so I am off to give that a try next.

32  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer is coming to a DS near you! on: April 01, 2008, 04:41:42 PM
Oh, and quick question, is there any penalty if an NPC dies off? I was escorting the little girl to her parents and used her as a shield to prevent a quick death (I was out of herbs and riceballs, starving, and made a break for the exit to save my own skin!), and she died in the process.

What's my fate as a result?
33  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer is coming to a DS near you! on: April 01, 2008, 04:40:13 PM
Well, I just died a stupid death (aren't they all) after making my best run to date. I was on the 16th floor (Waterfall Marsh) and had some pretty decent equipment when I ran into a pair of baddies that looked like green crabs. Well I swung my doppleganger staff at one which changed him into a clone of my character, although, the other crab proceeded to beat the heck out of my doppleganger, kill him, level up, turn and beat the crap out of me!!

Fun stuff...Can't wait to dive in again and try and best my last run...Thanks for all of the tips and great conversation here!

I feel like I'm still very much a beginner, but a couple of things that I think have helped me...

A lot of times in a fight with a monster, you'll get in a back-and-forth whacking contest. You hit the monster. It hits you. And so on. What often happens in one of these battles is that both combatants will get pretty beat up, to the point that it'll only take one more hit to finish you or the monster off. Early on, when it was my turn in such situations, I take a chance and go for the kill. And most times I'd hit the monster and kill it. But maybe one in ten such situations, I'd miss. Then the monster would whack me and I'm dead. I realized after a bit that I was playing the odds in such situations, and over the course of a long dungeon run—when those types of situations will come up twenty or thirty times—the odds will always catch up. Now when I'm fighting I always ask myself the question, "What happens if I miss?" If the answer is "Likely get hit and die," then I reach for a Chiropractic Jar or a healing herb instead of going for the kill.

Along these lines, I always notice how much damage an enemy hits for to figure out how much of a buffer I have before I die.

And after a battle I almost always press that A + B combo in gentle bursts to let my HP regenerate to a reasonable level before continuing on.

That's my problem EXACTLY!
I always seem to figure that I can outlast the slugfest and bite it over a stupid battle!

Dammit - wish I hadn't left my DS at home this morning to charge, I can use an extended bathroom break at work this afternoon!
35  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer is coming to a DS near you! on: March 31, 2008, 03:24:48 PM
OK, so I picked this up about a week ago and am finely brave enough to post in this thread icon_biggrin

My runs have all been poor...As a "newbie" to the whole rogue style of game, I barely scratch the surface of the mines before I meet my demise. I have this twitch ability that prevents me from strategically approaching the levels and instead I barrel straight through like I am in some big ass hurry...

I need more tips! I can't get enough of this game for some reason and this thread!

Count me in as interested too...It sounds like LordGek and Misguided are the only two playing icon_biggrin

I'm torn between this and FFCC...although, the fact that this comes in $10 cheaper is helping out that decision.

Ragnor Blackmane (8038)
Imperial Marine w/ Heavy Bolter (8004) - Opened but re-taped, all pieces intact
Space Ork Goff Boyz (8013)
Eldar Jet Bike (8030)

Let me know!
