And that's why I raise an eyebrow at "those savings aren't being passed on to gamers."  If Respawn did make a quality SP campaign mode, there's no way we would be getting the same level of quality for the MP portion.

Why do you say that?  Haven't plenty of other FPS games provided OK SP modes and still delivered good MP quality?

I have to say that the complete lack of SP made it a non-purchase for me.  I tried the beta/demo and the MP was just too difficult for me to get into (literally I would take a few steps and die; I did manage to get into a mech once before taking a few steps in the mech and dying lol), so without a SP element there was no way for me to feel comfortable learning the game.

I guess from my perspective, games that have both SP and MP either have fantastic SP and shitty/tacked on MP, or the reverse of that.  Blizzard games are an exception... maybe Gears of War?  I was late to the party with that series.

But with games like Battlefield or Call of Duty, the SP campaign is never particularly enjoyable.  I know they have their fans, but I'm not one of them.  I buy those games and go straight to multi, and if there's something I can only unlock by finishing the SP campaign I groan--the addition of SP actually detracts from my experience in that case.

The biggest downfall I'll agree with regarding Titanfall's lack of single player is that it cuts out the best avenue for fleshing out the game world and lore.  The 'multiplayer campaign mode' seems like their method of addressing that, but I'll have to see it for myself to see if it works.

Actually, the fact that 'Titanfall' has no SP makes the game more attractive to me. What makes a good FPS crackle, or a good MOBA game... is pwning noobs! Pwning. Noobs. You can add the lore as you along, like LoL did.

I will just sit here and flip Microsoft the Bird for making titanfall not available on my PS4.

I think EA deserves the blame for that, honestly, and they got burned over it. They probably expected the Xbox One to crush the PS4 sales-wise.

They expected wrong. No way I'm getting an Xbone.

(PR flips the bird to Microsoft)

Will pickup 'Titanfall' on PC at some point in the future. Sadly, not at launch. I don't have 60 bones laying around for it.

46  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: So I bought a Wii U on: March 05, 2014, 05:51:24 PM
I still secretly want a WiiU. 'Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze' looks like a lot of fun.. so will the new 'Mario Kart'. But... no new Zelda or Metroid? No WiiU. How many development teams does Nintendo actually have? Why does it take them so long to develop games? Are they operating out of a garage in a backstreet in Akihabara?

FYI--The game reached a milestone today and it's reached 'gamma' stage. The developers are celebrating by streaming live games on Twitch live all day long today. If you want to see the game in action, check out the stream. I've been watching for a while, and the game is looking pretty damn good. It's also on sale on Steam for $30.00 until March 6th.

Still not feeling it with either console, so I don't see myself getting one any time soon.  I guess I'm one of the very few minority that bought a Wii-U instead.  Don't really get all the hate for it, big hit with the family in my house.  Super Mario 3D World has now dethroned the original SNES as my all time favorite Mario game ever.  Can't wait to pick up the new Mario Kart and Smash Brothers.  Hopefully Nintendo will get off their dead asses and announce a new Zelda, Animal Crossing, and Metroid.  Why these titles didn't ship at launch, and why we are over a year later with no announcement is beyond me.  Even still, lots of other good stuff I'd like to pick up like Wonderful 101, Monster Hunter 4, and X whenever it gets released.

I'm not exactly sure why I can't get excited about the other two.  I think it's because I've seen this so many times before that I'm just burnt out on it.  I think this will be the first generation that I don't own the new console by Sony, Microsoft, or both.

I took the liberty to highlight the reasons why I, and most of the gamer population, won't pick up the WiiU.

I get what people are saying here didn't work for them in the game, but it is odd to see the press who lavished high raise when it was released come down on so hard.

BI got As almost across the board (which, by the way, doesn't make it a AAA title, that has to do with how much money/effort was put behind it as a release), sitting within the top 5 releases of last year on GameRankings.  Why all of a sudden is it garbage?

I think it's just good old 'hateration'. Haters gotta hate. And gamers love to hate. My only criticism with 'B:I' was that one of the final twists felt awkward.. but the game was excellent to me.

60  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Steam "Early Access"...do you do it? on: February 20, 2014, 03:46:28 PM
I do it.. but only with games I find to my liking.. and it's because I want to help the developers realize these games. Since major gaming companies now only develop what sells in the gazillions, a lot of cool niche games just don't get develop. I gladly give money to anyone developing the next well-made 'Dungeon Keeper' game.. or the next 'Total Annihilation' game.. or something like 'Starbound'. I do the same thing with indie film projects with potential on Kickstarter.

I wish Unreal Tournament would have had an annual series. I thought they were headed in that direction with 2003, 2004, and 3, but then.. years of nothing.

It's probably the only game where I've bought every UT title (down to the original Unreal) on every platform.

'Unreal Tournament' really needs to come back. I had tons of fun with those games.

74  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Annual Installments discussion on: February 07, 2014, 04:32:37 AM
I strongly dislike 'annual installment' games and I generally avoid them. I don't play 'Call Of Duty', 'Assassin's Creed' or any of those annual sport titles. I think the rush to get these games out once a year on the dot makes for generic gameplay and storytelling. Notice how none of these annual titles are actually original in character or setting? It's just the same old game with maps and graphics reshuffled and I'm saddened to see so many gamers now fall into this trap of buying them. Give me a 'Bioshock: Infinite', 'Last Of Us' or Zelda game every other year or three instead of these cynical, yearly cash-in titles.
75  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Games you wish you could get into but can't on: February 01, 2014, 02:55:23 PM
EVE was a game I liked, but simply had no time to properly played it. Games that I can't truly get into:

--Halo
. I just don't get it's appeal. It just looks like another tired, sci-fish, futuristic FPS. Pass.
--Grand Theft Auto. It doesn't matter how well-made they are, I just think they're crime simulators.
--Pokemon. I've always seen the Pokemon series as RPGs for 12-year olds. Even tough many adults now play Pokemon, I just can't.
--Call Of Duty. Probably my top 'can't get into' game. I dislike military shooters. I think they're boring. The fact the franchise churns out a new one per year and it sells a gazillion copies just flies over my head.
76  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Games you wish you could get into but can't on: February 01, 2014, 02:49:27 PM
Same here with: EVE Online. I actually played it for 3 months back in 2011.. and it was engrossing. The problem is that to truly get into EVE Online, you've to become committed to it. Play it every day, find a well-organized guild, train your skills for many months, become agressive about raising ISK (money) and resources. It's truly a 'massive' game.. But one you simply can't play casually. I left EVE to play League Of Legends... and that one has been my *ahem* addiction ever since.

The best part about SWG was how it detached itself from the traditional "you must kill monsters to become better" mentality. Who said other game systems than combat can't be interesting? I never played the game outside the beta (it was the wrong time for me), but I absolutely loved working my way up the crafting trees.

The best part of SWG was the gogo boy dancing outfits and animations!!!!  Man those were good times, what I wouldn't give to get that screenshot back.
