This weekend is double-Alliance XP weekend. Alliance Battles (AB) is arguably GW's most fun multiplayer mode. It's PvP that you can jump in without being uber and still have a hell of a fun time. Jump in game this weekend and join us for some AB'ing!

I understand not liking part 3, which was a bad idea from Coppola.. but, the first two? You should revisit them.

Any animated feature from Dreamworks.

Seriously?

Shrek 1, Kung Fu Panda, Flushed Away and Over The Hedge were worth watching IMHO.

Meet the Parents and Meet the Fockers were not, however.

Which reminds me, I didn't like Over The Hedge. One of the most unfocused, manic, unfunniest animated films of recent memory. I wouldn't say all of Dreamworks animation is bad, but that one I didn't like.

The Chronicles Of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch And The Wardrobe. You know, it's like a fantasy... but for the kids.. with ridiculous armies of humans, centaurs, lions, bears and every goddamn animal battling with not one drop of blood shown. Sorry that I didn't read the book as a kid. I found it to be third-rate fantasy at best.

I have a deep-rooted dislike for anything having to do with Firefly and the feature film Serenity. I think Joss Whedon is severely overrated.

Crash. It's such an astoundingly preachy movie. To this day, I don't understand why it got as many accolades as it got.

The Boondock Saints. I don't hate-hate this movie, but I think it's overrated. To me, it's a Tarantino knockoff that appeals to people with an Irish fetish. I don't know.. maybe I should watch it again.

i'm ONE mission away from finishing the first game.  plus, i'd like to get some more time in with my assassin/dervish in the expansions.

hepcat, when you reload the game this weekend, post your main here so we can send you an invite into the new guild.

rittchard, I do believe ArenaNet is indeed addressing the issues you posted on GW2. The world PVP aspect, specially, sounds enticing.

Since I haven't played this since the original launch... is there more PvE content now?  Perhaps with the expansions there is enough PvE content that I won't have to worry about the PvP.

Between the original game and the Factions/NightFall/Eye Of The North expansions there's a crap-ton of PvE content to get thru in GW, Arkon. Many people have this erroneous notion that the game is mainly PvP and that's not the case. You can play this game for months without touching the PvP. Also, you can start the game with either the original or Nightfall or Factions for a decent price and buy the other expansions as you go along. Check it out at guildwars.com and see if you want to join us in-game,man.

I believe DonD is correct. you click on the box to the left on your name and it gives you the option to leave the guild.

DonD, will be happy to send you an invite later tonight. Make sure you've left whatever previous guild you were a part of so that the invite goes thru.

One of the best and most important movies of the 90's in my opinion.

And one of the most difficult to make. 'Fight Club' cost the head of Twentieth Century Fox its job at the time. There was a huge backlash against the movie, from from both critics and audiences. It took several years for them to come back and admit that the movie was genius.

Yeah, I'm kind of disappointed by the mods letting this go on and on.  Jackassery is something I thought GT was above. tear

Let what go on?  I don't really care to moderate what is considered funny.  If the community doesn't care for this stuff then presumably they will be vocal in that (and indeed some have been) and perhaps peer pressure will check it.

But nothing in these threads constitutes a breach of the CoC IMO and, as such, I don't see why these threads should have been locked.  Could they have been merged?  Perhaps but we don't do that every often either.

Personally, I don't think posting multiple threads as some sort of meta-joke is very funny and if it becomes constant then maybe we can decide on an official policy against it.  But, for now, these type of meta-jokes don't seem frequent enough to take such action.
.

I just think six threads on the same topic, four of which were done just to be funny, is too much.  What's the point of moderating a board if you're going to just allow people to spam away like that?

Also, this line from the CoC strikes me as possibly applicable:

Quote
The posting of inflammatory, rude, repetitive or offensive messages designed to annoy or antagonize other posters or disrupt the flow of discussion is not allowed here.

I'd argue that the multiple threads constitute repetitive messages designed to annoy.  You might even argue that some of them were offensive, given the issue that was originally being discussed.

People can joke around all they want, I just don't think we needed four additional threads started, as was the case in this situation.

IMHO, obviously.

I think a better question is why you're making a big whoop out of this. The threads have died out, it's a new week, and people have moved on. It's you who's keeping the threads alive with your posts. Why not simply ignore the posts if they didn't appeal to your sense of humor? This is what most of us do. Now you're calling for 'mod action' and god knows what.

I didn't want to say anything.. but, seriously, you're being petty.

This thread is sure getting a lot of views... but, where are the responses?!  nod

We sure had some fun in Guild Wars last night. Zaxxon and Toxo joined our budding guild, then we embarked on a vanquish of The Sage Lands. This turned out to be an epic two hour undertaking, and we lost Toxo halfway as he got disconnected. But we all made a good bundle of cash (at least 6 platinum each),and got a bunch of XP and gold loot. If anyone's still itching for some GW, get in-game and send me, or Tareeq, or Zaxxon or Toxo a message. Or respond to the thread!

My toons:

Peear Geemar
Persephone Giamra
Primavera Giamra
Xterminating Angel

Tareeq's toons:

Fivefold Happiness
Polly Morphous
and a bunch of others

Zaxxon:
Zaxxon Zingledorf
and a bunch of others

Toxo:
Toxo Exsulum
and a bunch of others

See you in game!

as i noted in my initial post, i regard this crime as shocking and down right frightening.  i have nothing but the utmost sympathy for the victim's family and I'm apalled at the extent of evil displayed by the murderer.

however, gallows humor has existed since the moment humans traded fins for feet (or, if you're a creationist, were plopped into the garden).  it's in our dna to make light of things that scare us.  it helps us to deal.  yes, tasteless at times.  but it doesn't mean those making jokes about the situation are any less aware of the gravity of the situation.

in any case, as pointed out, this thread was purely an attempt to poke fun at the number of threads that popped into existence after the first one.

+1. This crime is so absurd, atrocious and over the top that I think it's only human nature to try and put some distance between our everyday world and the crime with some dark humor.  Of course, we feel terrible about the victim in this situation. This poor man hit the lottery for terrible things happening to people. Think of the odds of someone going psycho in a full bus and stabbing you to death and decapitating you.

Hehehe, YK. I don't like talking much on the boards about my projects. I'm one of those 'don't announce anything until you've got something to show' people. But believe me, I'm working on something and I think it's special. I'll leave it at that.

Exactly. Unfortunately, now more than ever, major studios (and game companies) don't want to take risk on someting that won't sell. As an indie filmmaker, I'm looking at a very steep hill climb for my first feature film. In the end it comes down to how much passion and drive the artist has to make something original happen. Those are the standout works you'll be seeing in the next few years--from the guys who fought hard to bring them to you.

Think about the lack of remorse, the void of emotion, the inability to feel guilt, and the disconnect between action and consequences that these murderers have. There are people out there incapable of getting in touch with their own humanity. I wouldn't be surprised if they find the victim wasn't the first one of this individual. This monster didn't give a shit if he got caught or shot to dead in that bus after butchering that man. He was too far gone. I'm surprised Canadian police didn't smoke him right on the spot, which they could've rightfully done.
