1  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Most anticipated games? on: May 20, 2006, 05:13:41 AM
Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Final Fantasy XII
Resident Evil 4 PC
2  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / PS3 pricing on: May 09, 2006, 05:56:11 AM
Well, I'll just have to somehow save up a $700 and get one. It might not be at launch but I have to have one to play MGS4. It's that simple for me. Plus, if the PS2's game catalog is any indication, further into the PS3s life, there will be so many great games to play, that by that time it won't matter how much you paid for it, if you're a gamer. That's my opinion, anyway.
3  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Resident Evil 4 sucks. You know it is true. on: March 06, 2006, 07:11:05 AM
I finished the game for the PS2 and I'm currently playing it for the second time. I started the game in December, then I stopped playing for a month or two. I felt a bit disappointed. But one day I felt like playing it and I did, and it got better and better, and towards the end I couldn't stop playing it. The only place that got frustrating is that...

... knife fight with Krauser. I watched Leon die so many times, it was ridiculous. Still, I beat it, and now I consider it a pretty cool moment in the game.

Yeah, the control sucked in the beginning but I got used to them after a while. I think they really work for what the game is trying to do.

Now I just go through the game kicking ass. I bought the Chicago Typewriter a few missions back, and I will have my vengeance for all the times I died in the first play-through
4  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / PS2...about that backwards compatability thing... on: October 21, 2005, 07:12:36 PM
Wow, Tekken 5. That's a biggie.
5  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What games do you wish you'd never sold/traded in? on: October 20, 2005, 10:22:04 PM
Probably ICO. Not sure that I'd play it over again, seeing how it has zero replayability but it was an amazing experience and I might want to immerse myself in it once more just for kicks.

Is this the game with the big mechanical spider in the street?  I always thought that picture looked so cool.

I believe that's Half-Life 2, or else I haven't seen it.

I'm with O.DOGG.

Especially the young, attractive one.  She probably cheated on some poor guy and divorced him because she couldn't keep her legs closed outside of marriage.  Bitch!  Take that for crushing the nice guy.

Ain't that the truth biggrin

Yellow belt in Judo. Took a class in the university with a great sensei. I hope I can continue some day.

Also some knowledge of Aikido - took it with the same sensei.

This one is awesome. It's by a British graffiti artist Banksy, and it's drawn (stenciled?) on the wall that they're building around Palestine. Good stuff.

I think Sub-Zero and Scorpion are unlockable characters. I can't remember where I read that.

That's correct. This game looks really interesting but I'll wait for it to go down in price before I pick it up. And that's mainly for the coop, not many games with coop these days.

13  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The Best Game You've Played This Gen? on: September 28, 2005, 10:48:18 AM
Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - no contest, nothing even comes close.
14  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Final Fantasy XII Famitsu Scans (56k) on: September 23, 2005, 08:23:55 PM
...I am not sure why the main character is quite so Tidus-like...

Those were my exact thoughts. Hopefully it's different enough from FFX.

When and where can we download the hi-rez version is what I want to know.
16  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / What are your 2 or 3 must-finish games? on: September 20, 2005, 11:58:06 PM
Right now I'm almost at the end of Killer 7, so that's the first one.

In the near future, probably FFX. And I want to play and finish Fahrenheit and FEAR, when it comes out. I don't know if I'll manage, though. I'll find out soon enough.

BTW, direct-feed trailer should be up on Monday at some time.  I guess G4 secured the rights to the direct-feed for a limited time...they showed about 3:00 of it on Attack of the Show, so much for the exclusive, I guess.

But Monday!  Hopefully.

Yeah, I think they got the exclusives 'till sunday. I've already seen one direct-feed at gametrailers, but it was lowres in just about every imaginable way, so basically just worthless.

I really don't know if it'll be any different. The official trailer on the Kojima Productions site is the same as the one on Gametrailers. We can hope, though...
18  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Huge IN GAME Metal Gear Solid 4 Trailer! on: September 16, 2005, 10:22:56 AM
Wow! This was amazing! However it seems a bit fishy to me. Is that really Snake? As in "Solid Snake"? Otacon still looked pretty young. And did anyone else think that the robot looked like Metal Gear from Snatcher? We'll wait and see, I guess. Hopefully, more info is on the way.

EDIT: Alright, scratch that. I just saw a few screenshots on IGN in better quality, and Otacon looks older as well.
19  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Lamest game moment on: September 12, 2005, 10:14:58 AM
Quote from: "Turtle"
Actually, I think the lamest moment is in MGS2 where Jack's talking to his girlfriend, having a long dialogue about their past and future relations... in the middle of a 'ing mission to save the world.

Yeah, gotta go with that one. I was looking at the screen in disbelief just about every time I tried to save "What the fuck? I have this very important (and increasingly confusing) mission to do here. Shut up, bitch!" It was ridiculous. Still, it's one of the best games I've ever played.
20  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Speaking of IGN, Burnout Revenge Review up on: September 12, 2005, 10:10:02 AM
I have yet to finish Takedown, so I'll probably wait for a price drop on this one.

22  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / PS2 Newbie or "Pimp Your Favorite Game Here" on: September 10, 2005, 08:52:04 PM
Yeah, I keep getting amazed by some of the old games that I can buy for cheap for the PS2. For example, recently I bought Def Jam: Fight for NY and Contra: Shattered Soldier, and I can't believe how good they both are. Def Jam: FFNY gets my recommendation easily. But as for the favorite games on the system... Here they are:

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater - Best PS2 game I've played. Awesome!
Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty/Substance - Not as good as 3 but still an incredibly good game
If you like fighting games, the best is possibly Virtua Fighter 3: Evolution.
Another good one is Soul Calibur 2. Though my favorite (because I suck at VF3:Evo) is Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance. Also let me mention Def Jam: Fight for NY once again - highly recommended if you like wrestling games and/or hiphop music and style.
Another sneaking game I love is Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven - a ninja "simulator". A lot of fun.
If you are into mecha type anime, Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner is another great game (produced by the legendary Hideo Kojima of Metal Gear Solid fame) I recently played and finished.
If you like racing games, then get either Gran Turismo 3 or 4. There are no better console racers available, as far as I know. Also there's Burnout 3, which is more like an action game on wheels rather than a racer, and it focuses more on crashes, but that makes it so much better. The next game in the series Burnout: Revenge is coming out soon as well and looks promising.

Umm what else...

If you like horror games, then Fatal Frame 2: Crimson Butterfly is one of the best you can get. And Fatal Frame 3 is coming out in the US this winter.

Also, let me add my recommendation for God of War - very good, very beautiful, satisfyingly brutal action game.

And, welcome to the club. You've made the right choice
23  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What are your favorite PS2/PS3 news sites? on: September 10, 2005, 03:21:55 PM
I guess Gamespot. Until I find something better, it's an OK source of information on my favorite console.

25  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What's the Console Super Game of the Moment? on: September 07, 2005, 12:07:10 PM
Personally, I'm looking forward to Shadow of the Colossus. I haven't tried the demo yet but with the ICO team behind it, I'll be getting it full price as soon as it comes out. Other than that, Burnout Revenge looks promising as well as Resident Evil 4. Of course, I'm a PS2-only console gamer, so take that for what it's worth.
26  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Favorite PC Game villain? on: September 03, 2005, 02:21:05 PM
Even though Torment is my favorite game... Actually it did have a lot of memorable villains- the Deva, Ravel... even the one that's already been mentioned. But I have to go with Nicole Horne from Max Payne. Somehow I really hated the bitch after everything she did in this game.

I may think of a better choice later, though.
27  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Favorite Console Game villain? on: September 03, 2005, 12:33:19 AM
Maybe Revolver Ocelot from the MGS series.
28  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / TRULY late to the party: Final Fantasy X on: August 31, 2005, 01:13:23 AM
I'm about 50 hours into the game. Started it last summer, but then I lost interest at one point (The Calm Lands) because I was getting my ass handed to me by the stronger monsters. But then I decided two weeks ago I'd give it another try and start over. Now when I understand the mechanics better, I managed to get past the Calm Lands and I'm currently getting the hell frustrated out of me trying to beat the damn Chocobo race to unlock the Sun Sigil.
It's an awesome game but it has these mini games that annoy me. I think it's my first real console RPG and I like it very much. I have Shadow Hearts 2 as well but it's on the back burner for now.

32  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / New System Advice on: August 10, 2005, 09:21:51 AM
Quote from: "Rage"
I am a big fan of Athlon64, but I have had persistent sound conflicts with my system, so at least do some research.

Things like that make me stay away from AMD processors. I just don't want to deal with compatibility problems. For now, I'm sticking with Intel. As for the PS, I heard that there are converter cables that will enable an old power supply to run new motherboards. I'll look into it once I decide on a motherboard model. Thanks for the suggestions so far, guys!
33  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / New System Advice on: August 09, 2005, 10:47:16 AM
My current power supply is 436w if I remember correctly. Some odd number like that. Bought it a few years ago but haven't had a problem with it, so I figure there's no need to change it yet.
34  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / New System Advice on: August 09, 2005, 02:17:29 AM
Since my old videocard kind of died the other day, it seems I will be forced to upgrade my system earlier than I expected. I need some advice, however. I want the PC to last for at least 2 years with possible minor upgrades here and there, but I don't want to change the motherboard/CPU again. Here are the parts I am likely to buy.

Here's what I'm thinking about buying:

Pentium 4 630
eVGA  Geforce 6800GT 256MB

I need advice on which exactly motherboard to pick. It needs to support PCI-E, and at least 2GB memory.

Speaking of which, I'm thinking of getting 2GB of ram this time, but maybe 1GB will be good for now (I have 1GB in my current system). Any brand recommendations?

Also, I'm hoping to salvage my hard drives from my current system and would rather not upgrade them just yet (although I might have to, seeing how just about all motherboards only support SATA).The optical drives will also be salvaged. I will use my current case and power supply as well. They're good.

Anything else I might be forgetting, I'll add later. Thanks for any and all comments!

(Same thread posted on OO, too lazy to change it - sorry!)

Yeah, I pick Kratos as well. Although I have yet to try Killer 7, which looks like it might have some nice characters.
37  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Any interest in Killer 7? on: July 24, 2005, 01:29:52 AM
I'm interested in this game for the PS2. Can soneone who has played it on that platform tell me if the load times/slowdowns are as bad as I hear some people say they are? Is it worth it? Maybe I'll wait for another couple of weeks to find it in the ~$20 range, the price of that one seems to be dropping like a rock. Still, I would like to hear some opinions of the PS2 version.
38  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / what are you looking forward to? on: July 01, 2005, 02:08:43 PM
All I'm looking forward to is Final Fantasy XII for the PS2. Well, maybe Fear for the PC out of curiosity. Seems like games can't grab me nowadays like they used to. At least until I tried Guild Wars and that's what I'm playing now. I hope it lasts.
39  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Starshifter! How's your Progress in KOTOR 2? on: June 10, 2005, 10:09:06 PM
I loved the game all the way through. The ending was full of holes, however,  and made me realize the crime that was committed against Obsidian. That would have been their masterpiece if only Lucas Arts had given them a couple more months. I hope their next game doesn't run into the same kind of problems and Obsidian get the chance to show their true potential (Torment is still the best game I've played).
40  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / YES!!!! on: May 18, 2005, 02:08:15 AM
Sorry, Kevin, I didn't see that thread - at least not the MGS4 part. I just watched the trailer and man let me tell you, that's the greatest news I've seen since... I don't know when. Kojima back on board as director for the new MGS. That's just great news.

And I'm trying to download that trailer but no luck so far.
