I'd just go with a standard HDD for Data / Games. Most of a games files exceed the cache size on a SSHD. I actually just keep most of my games on a WD 4TB Green drive and the ones I play often on a regular SSD.

You forgot one on the PC list which I bought, Planet Coaster: Thrillseeker Edition. Its playable on 11/9 and the Standard ed on the 17th. The 9th release is technically a beta but its the release code as far as I know.

Cases are something I just don't understand in this day and age.  If I have to put on an extra layer to the phone that makes it twice as thick, what's the point of them doing all the crazy advances with Gorilla glass and everything?  I haven't used a case or screen protector in years and the only time I damaged my phone was when I kneeled directly on the screen itself, which none of that would have saved.  I'll take a few minor surface scuffs over the daily annoyance of a case or screen protector any day.

Really? I don't understand not putting a case on a $750+ phone. I don't use screen protectors but cases always to help protect from drops. The case I use on my 6S isn't an annoyance at all and does not increase the size much at all.

Here are some nice photos Sports Illustrated took at an NFL game:

http://www.si.com/nfl/photo/2016/09/11/iphone-7-plus-sneak-preview-photos

As for the headphone jack, it's always annoying when you lose a port or interface you are comfortable with, but that's also a move to the future and part of the growing pains of engineering.  Some day soon there will likely be NO interface port and everything will be handled wirelessly.  The phone will be water resistant by having the speakers shoot water out of them  icon_wink   Honestly it could already be done right now, but it would likely freak people out who can't handle too much change too quickly.  And isn't it just a little bit ironic that in an age of "wireless connectivity" people are getting so upset about losing a wired connection?  I can't wait to see how the masses react to autonomous cars, now *that* is going to be exciting.

If you really want to "fight the future" there are plenty of excellent alternative options with the 6 series.  And even with the 7, Apple provided what I felt was a surprising concession by including both wired (lightning) headphones AND an adapter to analog.  Only the simultaneous charge and wired use case requires the Belkin adapter.

And I'd bet there will also be cases coming out that add a 3.5mm jack.

That would be a significantly large case.

They should be able to do it in the same size as one of those battery cases.

Well, my iPhone 5 is now 3.5 years old or so. What's another year if the 2017 version should be so 'absolutely amazing'? Then again, that's not like Apple to make major changes to a phone on the 'off years' when they release the S versions.

Who knows if my battery will last that long though.

It may or may not be amazing but I'd lay money it won't have a 3.5mm jack either. The only reason I'm not getting a 7 is my 6S just hit 1yr old and I'm not having any issues with it and the 7 just doesn't  offer anything must have.

A slap in the face... really... My daughter was bitching about this as well, my response was well if you want a 7 get some wireless earbuds. I'm waiting for the next iteration as I already have a 6S and will plan on there not being a headphone jack on the next one as I cant imagine they'll backpedal on it.

Yes.

You seem to be missing the point.  It's not just that your old headphones don't work or that you have to buy a proprietary adapter or a whole new set of earbuds (which may not be comfortable for your ears - my wife spent months finding a set that didn't fall out of her ears all the time).  It's not even that you can't charge and listen at the same time, although that's a pretty big fuck you.  It's that they took it out for more space in the unit...and then did nothing with it.

As a result, this change comes off as something they did for profit and not at all something they did for the consumer.  And, yes, that's a slap in the face.

I don't get why you're pretending this isn't an issue.  Have you looked anywhere online at all?  This is all people are talking about with the new phone.

Again, this change doesn't even effect me directly, and I find it offensive as hell.

Seems it hasn't affected demand for it.... But what Rav said, they just didnt take it out and not use the space lol... And I'm not pretending anything, it really isn't an issue, its not like you're being forced to buy one.

The 7 is coming with the lightning to 3.5mm adapter in the box and one of the 3rd party acc providers announced a combo adapter so you can use headphones and charge at same time.
So in order to get the exact same functionality I currently have with my iPhone 5 (using headphones and charging my phone at the same time), I have to have TWO different dongles plugged into my phone, one of which costs $40?!

Do you not see the absolute insanity behind Apple's lack of intelligence here?

I wont be getting a 7 but I dont see an issue with this either, I've never needed to charge and use the headphone jack at the same time and now in my car I charge and play thru the lightning port on my new Kenwood CarPlay head unit.

Now, Android exclusive!

As someone who currently owns and uses an iPhone 5 (non-lettered) right now, I find the lack of a headphone jack to be...fucking stupid.

For those of you who both use the headphone jack and plug in your device at the same time (something I do at work the entire shift I'm there, to put my device's music onto a stereo system for all of us to hear, plus keep it charged because the phone wouldn't survive 8 hours otherwise), what the hell are you supposed to do now?

Can they even make a device to split both power and headphones off of the same connector? It sounds like an electrical risk of some sort to my very limited expertise.

Here I wanted an iPhone 7. Now...I guess I'll wait to see if they make the all important adapter first, because Apple decided to remove the headphone jack because it was the next evolution in phone technology or something.

The 7 is coming with the lightning to 3.5mm adapter in the box and one of the 3rd party acc providers announced a combo adapter so you can use headphones and charge at same time.

Get into Overwatch for free next weekend

On PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

Quote
Overwatch is going free-to-play next weekend, from Sept. 9-12. Blizzard Entertainment is giving PlayStation 4 and Xbox One owners a chance to try its first new franchise in years, with access to all 22 characters and every available map.

During the free period, players can earn Loot Boxes and level up characters for as long as they like. There’s no registration required to get into the game, and the full Overwatch experience is open for business from 9 a.m. PT on Friday, Sept. 9 until 4 p.m. PT on Monday, Sept. 12. If the Overwatch newbie falls hard for the game during the free weekend, they can pick up the Origins Edition release and maintain all of their progress.

I'll be giving it a try as I didn't play the pre release beta and have been on the fence, wish the free weekend was for PC as thats where I'd play if I bought it.

Same here. Once I was able to fix the horrendous hitching problem with the framerate, the game has been very enjoyable. I can see how others may not enjoy it though. Its a very love it or hate it kind of game and things are not really explained at all to you. I can easily see people getting frustrated or bored within the first few hours. If you push through that though, there is quite an enjoyable open universe to explore!

So what did you have to do to get you FPS hitch fixed? Been on the fence with this one.

I'm surprised anyone is upset about this. If I was a console-only gamer I would be thrilled at the option to upgrade my system. As it stands, I already spend something north of $500/year upgrading my PC. I also upgrade my phone every 1-2 years. Get a new car lease every 3 years. Seems to match the cadence of every other toy in my life  icon_lol

My PC has been sitting here for the same specs for quite a few years now. I'm running an ancient quad-core i5 (because it's still great today) and a GTX 770. Yes, I'm waiting for this year's NVidia offering (because I've heard this is going to be a huge leap forward for graphic cards) this year to upgrade again, but short of getting a SSD, I haven't done anything to my PC rig in ages.

Wish I had access to that kind of money of yours. Tongue

Agreed, the new intel cpu's only seem to be marginally better per gen, my i7 4790K will do fine for quite a while, only thing I may consider is a GTX 1070 now that I've upgraded to a 27" 1440p monitor.
