1  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: The Moto X is the best phone I ever purchased. on: November 11, 2013, 06:56:23 PM
I thought that the "Okay Google" feature was part of the new Android KitKat update.  I know that a lot of Android phones will be coming out with this feature in the future.  My Samsung S3 is supposed to be getting it soon.  I'm glad that you like your phone but I don't think this one feature will be unique to Moto X for much longer.

I guess the question is what are consecutive lines?  If I typed a total of 6 lines of text in one evening then technically they are consecutive lines but not necessarily typed one after another in a short period of time.  I have no idea what Bioware is referring to because they did not give me any specifics other than someone complained about you.  The fact that someone complained does not mean that I'm guilty of doing anything wrong.  I did immediately ask Bioware to send me a transcript or more information of what they are referring to.

Why do I think Bioware is being idiotic?  Bioware says that what I did was innocent and I simply was looking for a group but still says I am guilty of flooding the chat.  Flooding is when a person is intending to make chat unusable by constantly entering the same text over and over again.  I've seen what flooding is and six lines of text in a short period of time is not flooding in my opinion.   Bioware accused me of doing something wrong but did not provide me with any evidence of what I did.  Bioware does not provide it's customers with a good way to find a group without using the public chat tool and then complains when I use the public chat tool to find a group.
4  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic announced on: February 10, 2012, 04:28:57 PM
Really?

It's not like I typed in 6 LFG requests all at the same time or even seconds apart.  I'm not even given a log of the what happened and I can only assume that I entered the LFG request as I normally do... several minutes apart.  So what you and Bioware are saying is that I should enter a LFG request and then sit patiently for how long?  Should I wait 5 minutes or 10 minutes or 30 minutes?  Really, I don't know what is considered acceptable to most people but if seeing "LFG whatever" every few minutes in group chat is annoying to some then I'm obviously very patient because I see this done all the time when I play.

5  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Star Wars: The Old Republic announced on: February 10, 2012, 01:18:28 PM
So I received the following email today

Quote
I have received your transmission regarding a spamming incident but I have noticed that it wasn't really spam but your were just shouting out that you are looking for a group. What caught our attention is the fact that you flooded general chat with your "shout", since you placed the exact same phrase at east on half a dozen consecutive lines which some of the other players found irritating.

I'm here to inform you to make your calls for a group in general chat a little less, like just about 2-3 lines only. It is considered flooding for now but more reports could change it to spamming.

What they are saying is that I am not allowed to type a LFG message in general chat more than 2-3 times in any given period of time.  Are you kidding me?  Here's the problem, my chat box fills up with comments from npc characters as well as comments from my companion.  I am assuming that other people have the same thing happen to them so if a LFG message is not sent every minute of so it's very possible that the first 2-3 LFG's will never be read by people that are also looking to group up.  Since they don't give me any details of my message I can only assume that I typed the same LFG a half dozen times (that's six times) in about a 5 minute period.  How anyone could be irritated by a LFG message in general chat and to report it as spam is stupid but for Bioware to investigate it and then decide that it's flooding is idiotic on their part.  Honestly, does Bioware want customers?

8  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: RAID Problem on: May 21, 2011, 02:37:19 AM
Thanks Vidiot,

Putting it back in RAID mode and removing one of the hard drives did the trick.  It's rebuilding the RAID now and all is good.  I don't know why I didnt think of doing that in the first place but I appreciate your help.
9  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / RAID Problem on: May 19, 2011, 02:29:27 AM
So I am building a new rig and I decided to install Win7 to a Raid 1 (Mirror) array.  The install went great, Intel Storage Manager reported that the Raid Array was working properly.  I then decided that I wanted to overclock the system so the first thing I did was to go into the bios and select use default settings.  I then began the process  of overrclocking and stress testing the system .  Everything looked good but I noticed that the Intel Rapid Storage software was not running.  I went back into the bios and realized that when I set the bios to use default settings it changed my hard drive settings from RAID to IDE.  Now if I change back to RAID my system will not boot but if I leave it as IDE everything boots fine.  Is there a way to get Raid 1  back without reinstalling Windows?

Thanks for the replies.  I guess the only reason I brought this up was the waitress at Famous Dave's BBQ made us feel horrible yesterday.  She told us to hide my daughters food or the manager would be very upset.  When asked if she thought her manager would be willing to risk losing 3 paying customers she replied Yes.  I was shocked and ready to walk out there and then.
13  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Bringin fastfood to restaurants on: December 12, 2010, 04:26:10 PM
So we have two kids (age 8 & 7) and there are some restaurants that my kids sometimes refuse to eat the kids food that is available to them at certain restaurants and they will ask for fast food instead. They will refuse to eat the restaurant food and I honestly can't afford to pay for food that goes uneaten.  I personally say then let them go hungry but my wife gets pissed and has no problem getting the fast food for the kids. I insist they eat in the car before my wife and I go inside but the she gets upset that I am being silly and suggests that nobody really minds. I'm not happy with this behavior that my kids have but I also would like to enjoy a good meal out without hearing about it from my kids.  I guess my question is, assuming that you could not smell the food would this bother you if you were eating at a restaurant or owned a restaurant?

Before anybody says anything my kids are not over weight and they eat healthy at home but they are at an age that they are not willing to experiment with food that they are not sure of.

It's stupid and they are growing out of this and eating more different foods but I have myself never seen anyone do what my wife has no problem doing.

17  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Xbox 360 - Have you been disconnected? on: November 12, 2009, 09:12:51 PM
While it's not likely to happen I could see how this thing could backfire on MS.

A pirate that just was banned appears to have only option to play online ...  buy a new 360.  If the pirate is happy playing offline then his banned 360 will still play ripped games perfectly fine.  But wait there is another option, for a little bit more money the pirate could buy a PS3 instead and play online for free.  The same pirate can keep his banned 360 and continue using it to play ripped offline games.  So, the pirate only needs to purchase games that he wants to play online and those would be PS3 games not 360 games.

The number of banned consoles is supposed to be over 1,000,000 today.  MS is potentially costing themselves 50 million dollars per year if those 360 owners do not purchase new 360's and resub with Live.

19  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Identify Boot Sector Drive on: September 17, 2009, 01:06:13 AM
Thanks Atomic.  If the boot sector is on the raid drive then how do I move it to the other drive?  I'm running Vista Premium.
20  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Identify Boot Sector Drive on: September 16, 2009, 06:44:42 PM
Does anybody know of a way to identify which hard drive has the boot sector on it?  I can easily identify the drive with the boot partition but I'm thinking that the boot partition and boot sector are not on the same physical drive.  The reason that I am asking is that I have 2 drives setup as a raid array and then another hard drive that has the boot partition on it.  I want to replace the raid drives but I'm afraid that the boot sector is on the raid and by removing the raid the bios will mess up my ability to boot.

Has anybody picked this up for the Wii?  I know the graphics suck but I heard that they made a different version for the Wii.  I think it was that you can draw out routes for your receivers and just point at the receiver rather than button mashing for the right one.  The Wii is cheaper and if the gameplay is better then I might pick the Wii version up instead of the 360.

It may be a marketing move and it looks like free advertising to me.  Obviously Apple does not intend to make this a legal thing and I'm sure Apple knows that the Macbook is still more expensive than a Windows laptop but they have people talking about Macbooks and how they are cheaper now.

25  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: D&D Online Free to Play! on: June 09, 2009, 09:35:47 PM
I had fun with DDO for awhile and it had some cool ideas that were unique at the time.  Traps were really well done in this game.  What was frustrating was that certain dungeons/instances could not be completed without a thief or wizard to unlock doors.  So the player base was limited to begin with and the problem was compounded by forcing you to find not only a group with a tank/healer but also a thief/wizard.  They mentioned hirelings which I am assuming means that they copied Guild Wars and are now allowing you take in a npc to make up for a lack of players.

If they can get it to work then no more red rings of death or constantly spending to upgrade the pc.  The bandwidth necessary seems to be the only thing standing in the way but I think Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony need to take this seriously.

OK but what was the deal with the pidgeon?  After Kara vanishes we see the flashback to the pidgeon scene.  It looks like they are implying that Kara was also the pidgeon in that flashback.  If that's the case then she had supernatural powers before she ever died.

Is there a good reason why the UN can't get a coalition of both Arab and Western countries to go into Gaza as a peace keeping force?  I would think that Israel would think twice before striking Gaza while Western troops are on the ground and Hamas could be restrained with the Arab forces close by.  Maybe I'm missing something but why does the Arab world not step up and get involved?
30  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: KB Toys files Chapter 11 on: December 12, 2008, 08:23:08 PM
I'm surprised that toy stores would be having trouble and double surprised that a toy store would be going bankrupt right before Christmas.   When you have little kids it's almost mandatory that you visit the local toy store to determine what they want for Christmas, birthdays, etc.  I guess I could just price shop for what they liked at the toy store but it's much more convenient to just go back and grab what they saw than to try to find it on-line.   Attempting to get your 5 year old to look at the toys on-line and pick the one that they like is just not the same experience for the child or the parent.

I do remember that KB was a much cheaper store experience than say a Toys R' Us but still the kids have to browse somewhere.

Thanks for the suggestions, great ideas.  We have all of the StarWars Lego games for the 360 and he has played them to death.  He wants both the Indian Jones and BatMan Lego games but I was thinking that the whole "wii has unique controllers" thing is lost on those types of games.  I had never heard of Bloom Box but both kids know about it so I guess that's a winner.  Thanks again.

So what happens to our warranties if GM & Ford go belly up?

Also, if you have more than 2 children then you are almost forced into owning a SUV.  The baby seat laws in this country make it difficult as hell to find a car that can hold 3 baby seats and give you any kind of cargo space for groceries etc.

Do you have an objection other than a reluctance to accept responsibility?

Of course it should be a shared responsibility. I just think that, as the most economically, technologically, and militarily capable nation on the planet, we should be leading the charge in places like Darfur.

edit: In other words, the fact that this country would ignore the UN when we want to depose Saddam Hussein, but rely on them in Darfur, etc., is appalling.

It's not like the UN has a military force.  The UN would ask it's members to send in troops with blue helmets on and guess which nation would supply the majority of that force?
