...wraps up things started with MGS1 so long ago. I'm glad that they really, really ended Snake's story.

Correction: things started with Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2 for the MSX so LONG ago (shit...more than 20 years ago...), which they then linked with the MGS series biggrin. Or to be precise....chronologically inside the MG universe...the genesis of it all was MGS 3. D'oh...

Yup, great way to go.

Though I wasn't expecting a miracle cure for Snake's aging, I would have wanted to have the notion that he would enjoy life a bit longer (and, yeah...get the girl too).

Oh well, all in all, great series.
87  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / It is over. on: June 17, 2008, 11:53:51 PM
Finished the game a good 30 minutes ago. If you have enjoyed or loved the MGS series you'll have a ball with it, if you were not convinced by the last three, I doubt this one will make you a believer. As for me, I always liked the MGS series (must play and finish the original MG from the MSX), despite the melodrama and long cutscenes. As far as I'm concerned, I only got two things to say:

1. Wow...

2. Dayum...

And that's all you're getting out of me from MGS 4. If you want to know more, play and finish the game .

PS. I still think the best intro in the series is Snake Eater's.

I never played System Shock, mind you, so I don't have any real basis of comparison there.

For shame, me old cock. You -must- play System Shock 2 smile (the game where Bioshock copied most from) for the PC, a must-play game in my humble opinion (and unlike BS's uber-creepy atmosphere and enemies, SS2 is uber-scary biggrin). If you can find it, I also reccomend playing System Shock, though it may be a bit of a bitch to get it to run, but much worth it if you can biggrin

More or less like Jumangi.

Sometimes I just play the one console or on the PC, othertimes I may play on more than one console or console and PC (I have decent PC for gaming, PSP, PS3, 360 and Wii, plus a Dreamcast, which I rarely, sadly, play).

Right now I'm poking into Sins of a Solar Empire and having a ball with TES IV: Oblivion + Shivering Isles + Mods for the PC. Only playing GTA IV on the 360 and the ocassional rocking out session with friends at Rock Band for the PS3 smile

I plan on taking my PSP on vacation time since it's lighter to carry around than the Wii and you can play anywhere slywink. Plan on buying a DS soon smile

I'm still praying for it to come to the PC (the tradition of having -all- GTA games on the PC just keeps going strong biggrin).

I'd say AC was trying to be more in the vein of Splinter Cell/Hitman without reaching their level (but in it's own merit reaching other new heights, no pun intended).

Ah, Thief 4 would so rock, specially if they make it with a less....restrictive....engine.

Spoiler for Hiden:
I don't recall the first game saying it was the first time that Kratos had killed a god.  More importantly, killing the Goddess of Fertility is obviously a easier task than taking on the God of War. As far as Pandora's Box goes, that's what made Kratos "big" enough to take on Ares so it was certainly necessary.

If I remember correctly, I think it was implied by when Athena said that it was the most powerful weapon a mortal could use against a god (Pandora's) and that it would be the only thing Kratos (or at least the most powerful) would able to use to have a chance at killing Ares, so, even if there are lesser gods (not Zeus and his two brothers, Hades and Poseidon), they're still gods. Dunno, it still sounds iffy (I may be wrong, but I think in GoW 2 Zeus tells Kratos, before offing him that he (Kratos) already had the blood of a god on his hands, implying the murder of one, or somesuch).
Spoiler for Hiden:
Unless Persephone was considered such a traitorous bitch they collectively forgot about her slywink

Quote from: Kevin Grey on March 30, 2008, 11:42:54 PM

Spoiler for Hiden:
The Atlas thing is actually exactly a setup from GoW2.  Heck, in GoW 2 Atlas even says something like "Kratos, we meet again".  Since CoO was already well into development by that point it's pretty clear it was a nod to this game.

Oh, that I know perfectly smile, my fault for not explaning myself properly, what I meant to say was that I don't recall seeing Atlas standing over
Spoiler for Hiden:
Persephone's temple  (the big pillar), which was conveniently next to Elysium, if memory serves, in GoW 2, but instead over the sea of lava (blood?), I think. Eh, that was mostly a nitpick, more than a contradiction.

A sequel (prequel?) would be interesting, but it gives me the feeling that a game like BS starts and ends in one big act and doesn't need (or want) seconds, dunno, it's probably just me.
