41  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: How does one choose a backlog game? on: November 08, 2009, 08:14:49 AM
Nowadays I'm choosing a particular genre to play for half a month (extending it to one month if it's an RPG or such long games). I'm playing strategy games right now, so it's basically the PC. Just finished World In Conflict and now I'm going to finish Homeworld smile. Obviously I try to grab in priority games of the backlog, making exceptions to new games that I've been eagerly anticipating for a while biggrin
42  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Poll on: November 07, 2009, 03:47:29 AM
Anticipated from here'till year's end?, certainly.

Decade?, heck no.

So I just met the archdemon of the mines' dungeon....

Spoiler for Hiden:
....that was a very, very short meeting with the dragon god...sheesh.
44  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Uncharted 2: Among Impressions Threads [Hide the spoilers well!] on: October 19, 2009, 05:23:50 AM
Finished it.

Loved it.

Want Uncharted 3.

46  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / BEWARE, I LIVE!!! on: September 29, 2009, 08:57:09 PM
Well, just felt like sharing a bit of a gaming update.

Mind you, between new releases and replaying games I've already finished, it's been hard to make a proper dent in the backlog, but here's what I've nailed so far:

  • LocoRoco (PSP).

Crap...that's not much, but on the bright side, I've tackled -all- new games inmediatly!!! (and some old ones I already passed...).

Hmmm...must revise my strategy.

I'm trying to play & finish all new releases as soon as I get'em. Top priority.

Ideally, on second priority it should be the backlog games (harder to do than saying it...).

Thirdly, replaying finished games with specific goals in mind (i.e. just finished God Of War in Spartan Difficulty to get the extras and Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory in Expert with a 100% rating in all missions).

Currently I'm playing:

New Games:
  • Muramasa: The Demon Blade (Wii).
  • Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story (DS).
  • Halo 3: ODST (360).
  • Defense Grid (360 LA)

Backlog Games:
  • FarCry 2 (PC) - Not on the original list I posted at the start of the thread, but it is a backlog game.

Replayed Games:
  • LittleBigPlanet (PS3) - Trying to get 100% in -all- story levels, plus get all challenge levels.

Crap...Brutal Legend and Uncharted 2 are just around the corner....eeep!!!

Mind you, despite my lack of progress, I am considering seriously some of the suggestions to tackle the backlog list smile

I think rpgs and some of the long platformers (i.e. Jak and Ratchet series) will take me a while to poke, but I'll eventually get to it. Me, I keep having a blast with what I play biggrin

Btw...would you guys reccomend Devil May Cry 4?
47  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [WiiWare] LostWinds: Winter of the Melodias on: September 20, 2009, 09:12:02 PM
Winter of the Melodies, eh?

Looks nice smile
48  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / So I have this backlog of games... on: August 21, 2009, 06:53:28 AM
...and I was wondering if the good crowd here at GT could get me all excited to play 3 games of this backlog that I have (a little incentive to play off games I've been putting off to play for some reason of another always helps) and reduce it slightly.

Mind you, I'm putting the complete console/portable backlog list, for completionist's sake, but for gaming sense I'm not skipping sequels with a continuing story to favor the "newer one" (obviously I don't mind playing any Final Fantasy in any order that comes by...).

Without further ado, here's my current console/portable backlog (skipping PC/Downloaded games so as to not make it so big):

Xbox 360:
  • Fable 2.
  • Saints Row 2.
  • Tomb Raider: Underworld.
  • Prince Of Persia (the new one).

  • Conker: Live & Reloaded.
  • Sonic Mega Collection (from Sonic 2 onward I have yet to finish...).
  • Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee.

Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools Of Destruction.

  • Jak 2.
  • Jak 3
  • Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando.
  • Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal.
  • Maximo: Ghosts To Glory.
  • Maximo vs. Army Of Zin
  • Kingdom Hearts.
  • Final Fantasy X.
  • Final Fantasy XII.
  • Silent Hill 2.
  • Silent Hill 3.
  • Onimusha: Dawn Of Dreams
  • Zone Of Enders: The 2nd Runner.

  • Raystorm.
  • Einhänder.
  • Tenchu 2: Birth Of Stealth Assassins.
  • Final Fantasy Origins (FF I & II).
  • Final Fantasy Chronicles (FF IV, already finished Chrono Trigger since the SNES days).
  • Final Fantasy Anthology (FF V & VI).
  • Final Fantasy VII.
  • Xenogears.

  • Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
  • Mega Man X Collection (need to finish X4 thru X6).
  • Viewtiful Joe 2.

  • No More Heroes.
  • Super Paper Mario.

  • Resident Evil - CODE: Veronica.
  • Sonic Adventure 2.
  • Rayman 2: The Great Escape.

  • Crush.
  • Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.
  • Spac3 Invaders Extrem3.
  • Final Fantasy Tactics: The War Of The Lions.
  • Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII.
  • Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.
  • Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories.
  • Patapon.
  • Patapon 2.
  • Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters.
  • Daxter.
  • LocoRoco.
  • LocoRoco 2.
  • LEGO Sar Wars: The Original Trilogy.
  • LEGO Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures.
  • LEGO Batman: The Videogame.

Nintendo DS:
  • The Legend Of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass.

It may not seem as that much to some (or many) of you (mind you, I'm not including my PC/Downloaded games backlog list slywink), but it certainly is a bundle to me, specially since some of these games are 10+ years old (and I've had'em for as much time...sheesh....).

So, help a gamer out here and post your stories/reasons why X, Y & Z games would be kickass to tackle first in this backlog smile

55  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: CoD: WaW Thursday Zombie Mayhem on: July 27, 2009, 02:43:28 AM

Also: Hell Hounds!!!  eek

I'm going to poke Kiko to see if he's up for some MP mayhem on monday night, you boys up to it?, maybe some BF1943, if no one feels like zombie killin'

Cheers!  icon_smile
56  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: CoD: WaW Thursday Zombie Mayhem on: July 25, 2009, 06:50:56 PM
Previous engagement kept me busy'till 1 am or so, but then I went online and saw that you and Bob had parted about 50 minutes ago  crybaby

How was the game, btw?  icon_smile

57  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: CoD: WaW Thursday Zombie Mayhem on: July 24, 2009, 08:26:01 PM
Lettuce - Sounds sexy, there's a good chance I might make it (mind you, I have do have a previous engagement, but we'll see  icon_biggrin). Bets of all, Kiko's got BF1943 too and loves it to bits (he's also pretty good at it too).

Bob - Yup, was charging it. Been with these babies for a while now...probably going to have to retire'em eventually, pooh. And yes, purchase BF1943! biggrin

Game on, guys. Game on.

58  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Duke Nukem 3D on: July 24, 2009, 05:35:56 PM
I highly reccomend the high-res and 3d models pack for Duken Nukem 3D. Aces high!

Ah, great times...

59  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: CoD: WaW Thursday Zombie Mayhem on: July 24, 2009, 05:01:37 PM

I too had a blast with you guys and my mate Kiko (his r/l nickname, one I less than his tag).  finger

Shame you had to go a bit earlier Lettuce me man, 'twas a blast.

And sorry Bob for being the 2nd one to bail out, my 360 controller's charge battery all of a sudden went up in temp to hot-hot levels so for safety reasons I had to bail out (any reason for it?).

Did you and Kiko finished the round? (i.e. played'till you were both killed), played an extra round?

We definitively got to do this soon. Kiko agrees, and he's always game for some MP  icon_biggrin

It also helps you guys improve your Spanish, at least your cussing Spanish  icon_wink

When do we team up with a lot of GTers to pump it up in BF1943?, rar!!! best gaming days are from thursday thru sunday. Mondays I ocassionally get busy and tuesdays and wednesdays are off (my musical discussion group and my Rock Band group respectively).

Cheers!  icon_lol
60  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: CoD: WaW Thursday Zombie Mayhem on: July 22, 2009, 08:10:57 PM

Huzzah! smile

Me too, people don't seem to play this one much, at least not on my list. Good news, though, there's a good 90% chance we have another player. A friend of mine frommy hometown, his English's good so we won't have language barrier, I'll hook'im in so we only need one more player smile

Though I do prefer Futurama in English by far...

70  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Mein 2 cents. on: July 21, 2009, 03:39:44 PM
My 2 cents...

As usual, they stripped the book of most stuff and left the backbone of the story, though this time the added the romances to add some meat and substance.

Overall I enjoyed it (as most HP films, despite loving the books 10 times more, for obvious reasons), and thought Jim Broadbent took the show with his Prof. Slughorn.

Now, my 2 major complaints, and I'm sure more than one person here probably agrees with me:

Spoiler for Hiden:
1. Harry was not petrified, he simply obeyed like a faithful (cowardly?) lapdog to "stay in the shadows", what the cock?, in my opinion it -totally- changes the character, unlike in the novel where he has to be deceived and restrained so his love for Dumbledore doesn't make him rush to his "rescue" and get himself killed.

2. The whole fight before/after Dumbledore's end. Self-explanatory. Just make pretend like the Order never

Sure, other several complaints abound, but I think, for me at least, these two where the most noteworthy of vocal complaint.

Overall, fun movie.

Can't wait to see how they cram a whole lot of stuff in the last 2 (since it's split into two parts), hope they don't blunder it much.

As the title says. Looking for 3 more brave players that want to fend off the endless zombie hordes untill they overwhelm us (for they shall, gentlemen and gentlewomen, they shall...) in bloody combat. I have all 3 zombie maps so we can vary things up.

I'm thinking a 2 - 3 hour romp will pile up enough corpses, starting from 9 thru 11 pm.

My timezone, for reference, is the same as Mexico City's.

Sp, who's with me?  icon_biggrin

72  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: SO...BF 1943 (360) on: July 19, 2009, 07:36:47 AM
Note to self: -first- get into a party for voice chat, THEN go into a BF1943 game.

Bit hard to make strategy with people when you can only speak in monosyllables (Bang slywink).

Fun game. Hope they add additional content soon.

Well, I'm from Mexico, but don't live in Mexico City, though two siblings of mine do live there, but they seem to be ok. One of them reports that Mexico City is pretty empty (for Mexico City standards, that is).

Me, I'm going to stay indoors for a week or so and see how it develops. God willing it won't be the end of us, not by a long shot.

76  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Resistance 2 Impressions on: November 17, 2008, 04:07:30 PM
I'm enjoying Resistance 2 quite a lot, but humbly think I enjoyed Resistance: FoM far more and agree with many of the game's criticisms made here.

And I -really- do miss the narration that tied the whole thing together in the first.

Still need to MP some to see what that's like.

Liking the game v.much save for a few niggles that make me go hrrrrrrmm:

1. I -can't- lie prone...and this is a game that would -greatly- benefit from it.

2. Night time seems to be pretty....bright....for night. Any -real- difference with the AI in playing at night/day?

3. Sometimes insta-rewspanning of a checkpoint you just cleared can be annoying.

Still, v. good game.

80  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [ps3] littlebigplanet impressions... on: October 31, 2008, 09:53:49 AM

I can't play online with people!

Everytime I seem to find a party to play with, or even with people on my Friends' list, it begins to load, apparently, but then it boots me back to my pod and says it ca't load all player profiles.

The most I have gotten far into mp is watching other people play (wtf?) and then it boots me off, saying again that it can't load player profiles.

Anyone suffering from not being able to play online too?

Hope they fix this soon...
