You could spend the rest of your life trying to decipher words like this.

Or you could just ask her out.

(Editor's note:  Mr. Fed's original draft said "Or you could just ask if she likes anal."  This seems more on-message and appropriate.

IMAX only.
Smell-o-vision.
multiple scenes that are only shown in different theater depending on what company owns said theater.

6  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Think I just may have been scammed .. on: April 12, 2012, 02:26:55 PM
If anyone wants to crowdsource, they could search to see:

1.  If USDS is licensed for anything in Kentucky,
2.  If USDS has applied as a foreign business in Florida,
3.  If there are any complaints out there about USDS.

Also, corruptrelic, if FEU in fact has no licenses and no contracts in Florida, it would be helpful to know how that diverges from what you were told during the interview.  Did Mike Keen tell you this business was actively doing extradition work?
7  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Think I just may have been scammed .. on: April 12, 2012, 02:23:16 PM
Oh, boy, ladies and gentlemen.

I don't have a lot of time to work on this today -- have a 9th Circuit brief to finish.

But I talked to Lt. Mike Keen.

1.  Lt. Keen explained that FEU will be a business entity in Florida, but hasn't become one yet.  It's a Fictitious Business Name operated by a Kentucky company called USDS.

2.  I asked Lt. Keen to identify the entity in which he is a Lt.  He explained it is USDS that grants him that title.

3.  Note:  Kentucky records do show a USDS LLC in Kentucky.  It was started by -- wait for it -- Mike Keen.  https://app.sos.ky.gov/ftshow/%28S%28lufrpz553xzp5o45rbccgh2u%29%29/default.aspx?path=ftsearch&id=0801420&ct=06&cs=99999

4.  Lt. Keen said the company was in the process of getting the requisite licenses, and wasn't operating in Florida yet.  (Corruptrelic, didn't he tell you, when he interviewed you, that he had just dropped off a fugitive at the airport?)

5.  Lt. Keen explained that they asked for all that information because most applicants will be "successful" and therefore will need training and licenses after they are accepted into the company.  He said that USDS would be conducting the training for now.

6.  Lt. Keen said that they would be getting licensed by the "Department of Agriculture" so that they would not have to go through normal channels.  (That's how I understood him, anyway.)

In short:  Fed's verdict is that every indication is that it is a scam.  Hopefully, though, this has thrown enough of a scare into them to stop them from using recent identity data.

- Lt. Mike Keen - does he have a valid class D and G security license which is required for the extraditions? If he does, why isn't his name coming up with the florida division of licensing. The division of licensing has a public search agency that has ALL D & G licensed individuals (even those with rejected applications) listed - for those who have worked in law enforcement you can hide your address, but your name still comes up as being licensed. His associate, Pete Andrews, also didn't come up.

Is "Pete Andrews" the English guy who interviewed you?

The licensing stuff is great intel, by the way.

Don't see any relevant FBN filings.

Sure sounds like a scam to me.

You may want to call the credit reporting agencies and put a fraud alert on your credit report.  That will make it harder for them to use your information to get loans, credit cards, etc.

I'd also report to the FBI and Postal Inspectors online.

I live about 10-15 minutes from Pasadena, and two of my kids may be in school over there next year.

A few notes:

1.  Most people I know who work there say it's a great place to work.

2.  Though the nicer parts are definitely pricey, there are several nice communities within short commuting distance that are more affordable.

3.  It's got lots of good restaurants.  Lots.  Of all types.

4.  Lots of good entertainment options, too, whatever your tastes.

Let me know if you want to talk any particular neighborhoods.

Here's what I say people when I train them on sexual harassment prevention:  it's extremely risky.

1.  Are you sure it's welcome?  Unwelcome sexual advances can, if sufficiently severe or pervasive, be actionable sexual harassment.
2.  Are you sure the person isn't a psycho and/or won't later lie about you?  Sure it was welcome at the time -- but how will you prove it later when they say it wasn't?
3.  You realize, if you get accused by someone else of workplace harassment, that it will be established that you shit where you eat?

And so on.

So what I tell my employees is this:  we don't prohibit it, but conduct yourself like a grown-up, and if it goes sour, don't come crying to me.

Looking for the link where he apparently admits that no one ever threatened his wife or child, he's just worried they might.

As for the Kotaku think-piece:  I'm inherently skeptical of any "it's disproportionate to publicize bad behavior" argument.  It might be disproportionate to fire, prosecute, sue, etc. based on bad behavior.  But I hate, hate, hate "other people are too angry/dumb/shallow to interpret this proportionately, so don't make a scene" thinking.

You'd think as an Internets and PR expert, he'd be better at this Twitter thing.

According to another source, in an interview he blamed his almost entirely plagiarized marketing website on Indian subcontractors.

Which is understandable, if true.  I mean, there's no way a public relations and marketing guy who talks about specializing in online marketing and web presence would know anything about content subcontractors being problematical and requiring careful supervision.

What, if anything, should Mike have done, and what do you think would have been the short-term and long-term result?

I can imagine a scenario where Mike makes direct contact with someone with the company (somehow -- note how Christoforo has been intercepting communications) and convinces them to pull Christoforo back a bit.

What do you think happens when the next customer, who didn't hear about this, writes to complain?
What do you think happens when Christoforo is representing his next client?
39  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: All sorts of awesome: The Ocean Marketing customer service debacle on: December 29, 2011, 10:34:07 PM
Let me put it this way, Grue:  I was recently annoyed my a mail-fraud scammer.  I did a little digging and found things out about them.  I started to write about them.  I uncovered more and more -- a trail of victims conned out of money, some led into bankruptcy.

The scammers wife sent me emails begging me to stop writing because of her children, because her husband was just trying to provide for her family.  She did that the same week the guy was held to answer for leasing a car in the name of someone who applied for a job at his scam company (without the knowledge of the applicant).

Should I have stopped writing?

As for joy -- somewhere, there is a company that would have hired Paul Christoforo, and now won't because they will Google them and find this.  Do you think that company minds that people are joyful that they found out about him before hiring him?
