Those must be unencrypted analog channels. Due to the frequencies associated with upload (essentially, the return path) it is easy to block internet and allow basic cable, but not so easy to do the reverse. If they are being sent to you over coax, and they are not requiring a digital box to decode, there are no legal ramifications. You're not circumventing any security measures to get it.

Yep. It is my understanding that cable companies can't encrypt what you can get over the air (I could be totally wrong about the technical legal mumbo-jumbo) and some cable companies don't encrypt other stuff. I'm in the same situation. I only get internets from my cable company and some TV still comes in over the coax.

Search for "unencrypted QAM" for a bevy of confusing results.

Apple forces me to use itunes to sync with my iphone.  Why is it worse when MS requires that you use their OS to interface with their mobile OS?  I think they're well within their rights to do that, and you're well within your rights to not buy it because of that.

What the hell? Of course they're within their rights. Can we not say what we would like? Hell, they make freakin' Office for OS X - I'd just like to be able to sync my Zune / potential Windows phone on my MacBook (within OS X, I'm not buying another license for Win 7 just for that).

I've been using a DE for 4 - 5 years or so. No brush. No fancy creams or lathers. It's a huge money saver and just plain better than fucking Gillette (note: no hate towards McNutt and the power shavers if you really want to get into it; I just don't care that much). You can get the blades easily and it's like $2 for 10 of 'em.

Seriously, if you're using a Gillette Fusion / Mach 9 billion and spending I don't even know how much per cartridge, you're doing it wrong.

This is way, way, way better than I expected. Obviously you have to like electronic/hip-hop music to really get into it, but the game itself is pretty damn good and they worked a lot of shit into the controls. I'm still just getting started - loving it though.

Birthday present for me, so I'll be waiting a week or so for it.

I'm certainly not in his head, but I don't think Olbermann would claim to be impartial. Maddow definitely would not (I've grown to really, really like her show). In fact, I think they would both laugh at the notion. And that's the difference between them and Fox news - they aren't operating under the guise of "fair and balanced".

Really? I would doubt that. Actually, I think it could probably be illegal for them to judge on the type of credit card. Mix of credit types is of course considered (mortgage vs. credit card vs. car loan, etc).

I go to the bank and tell them I am a tennis coach. They take the highest amount a tennis coach can make (say $250k per year) and come back offering me a 1 million dollar loan. I know I don't make $250k a year, and that the monthly payment is WAY beyond my means. I know this because I have an ounce of common sense and can do complicated math like addition and subtraction. Thank god I don't have to do any multiplication or division though -that shit is hard.

Nobody made the guy spend the entirety of any loan amount he was prequalified for. He didn't have to buy a super expensive house. He chose to do so. He chose to buy beyond his means. Shit he didn't even need to take the bloody loan. He could have gone to another lender. He had choices. That he's pretending otherwise just shows he is either retarded, or knows how greedy he was and is refusing to take any blame.

Nobody forced the banks to offer no doc loans either. What was the motivation behind that? The greed you ascribe to the dude taking the loan also applies to the dude offering the loan without seeing a pay stub. It's a mess, it cuts both ways, and trying to place all the blame on one party is a waste of time. Everyone has a lot to learn from this.

Also, I've heard stories of some homeowners being offered a refinance to a lower rates, but as far as I know homeowners have not been bailed out of this mess. Yet.
