What kind of network connection are you on?
High speed cable. This might be something new with IE10... I'll have to see what happens on a couple of systems I have here. Edit: My crappy work laptop that still runs IE8 does the exact same thing. As noted, each page is first rendered with no ad space at the top and then "pop" it goes down when the ad show up. Move to the next page, it pops back up and then down again. Now that I'm looking for it, it's getting annoying. Ah well.

Don't know if others are seeing this on other browsers but I'm running IE10 and the pages are first rendered without space for the ad at the top and then everything pushes down and the ad appears. So there's a lot of "hopping up and down" when navigating inside and around the forums. Not horrible but thought it was worth mentioning...

Doesn't have wireless? AFAIK, every PS3 has wireless built in... unless they removed it at some point or for some SKUs? My launch 60GB (which is still chugging along) has it built in.

I'm not done with this yet but I'm enjoying it immensely, which means this will be one of a small number of games that I will actually finish... not a small feat for me. Always seems like something shiny comes along and distracts me. It would have been awesome if they could have found a way to keep all of her weapons slung on her somewhere as she accumulates them. You'll see that in the cut scenes, from what I recall, too bad it just doesn't seem possible in game. Does anyone remember a game that actually did that? I don't... they are usually of the magically re-appear variety and tend to take me back to the first Leisure Suit Larry game where he could literally shove anything into his pants... err, inventory... including a 30 gallon trashcan IIRC. I'm at the "escape the burning temple" section which is one ambush after another which means I tend to stop after dying too many times in a row and come back later for another try. Thankfully it is very forgiving when it comes to checkpoint saves.

I enjoyed it. However, as noted there is a ton of backstory here that we don't really know but that they allude to... like the Pale Wars and ARKFALL. Found that I really needed to peruse the official website and there's also a free iBook with lots of nice content and history.

Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: PS Vita Impressions! Vita Digital Purchases Beating PS3 - no NA price cuts

Just to comment on a few things here. I have 5 games on cart, 10 dl games, and 3 psp games on this 32gb stick. I still have 16 gb free! I don't like the pricing on the memory sticks at all, but this 32gb really has lasted. So off to try gaulamelee!!!
I just downloaded Atelier Totori, which is a wonderful addition to the stable of games if you like carefree JRPGs with a heavy emphasis on alchemy. But I was stunned that the game is almost 3GB. Of course, it IS one of the the best looking title on the system. For me in the PS Store, this shows as "disk only". And it looks like it's the 3rd of three games. Should someone new to the series start with the first one or does it matter? Oh - there's a "plus" version for the Vita, I see. How different is it from the PS3 version? Need to go investigate, it would seem.

Gratch, I don't have a horse in this race but I was wondering about this part: If life begins at fertilization, then they are essentially outlawing In Vitro fertilization procedures. Where does this come from? I looked at a summary of the legislation and it has this: "The bill redefines one term currently in statute, “medical emergency,” regarding a pregnant woman, and adds these two definitions for the terms “bodily function” and “fertilization” in the general abortion statutes"
"Fertilization” means the fusion of a human spermatozoon with a human ovum."Which would include In Vitro. Not knowing anything about the "general abortion statutes" there, is this what you were referring to?

In another testimonial to the power of low expectations, I found this movie hilarious. Really hadn't expected to LOL several times. In fact, I hadn't even expected to enjoy it.
+1 Then there's Nazis at the Center of the Earth with Jake Busey which is just plain... awful awful.

Well you can always just go into sleep mode.
Of course but there have been a couple of times when I've wanted to do something else, which meant either putting it off until I could save and exit properly or just letting the new program kill it. No worries, was just curious.

Finally got some time to get back to this. Got near to the 'radio tower' bit and for some reason decided to jump back to the Mountain Village to get closer to 100%. Turned around at the top of a pick climb and saw an entrance I hadn't noticed before with two statues guarding it with two big dudes to kill just on the other side. And then I proceeded to die several times trying to jump to places I really wasn't quite able to reach. Finally resorted to some googling and found I was there a little... early. Rope arrows. Which I no got. Yet. [sigh] Back to the tower...

True... while the older 360s with their noisy DVD drives really benefitted from installing games to the hard drive (or at least my ears benefited), the new 'slim' models don't really need it the vast majority of the time.
