Was wondering what the heck was happening with this, I've had "Red Cliff" and "Red Cliff 2: The Decisive Battle" in my Saved list on Netflix for forever it seems.

Not being someone that watched much of "Lost" I'm not getting that vibe from the show, but what did creep into my mind last night was "Sliders". Is the whole premise of the show going to be about our little rag-tag band of adventurers wandering from random world to random world looking for some way to get back home? Heck, in typing that in it does remind me of BSG as well. I guess we'll see.

That really sucks Bael.  Luckily my Vista 32 system is handling the disk version I bought without many problems (though my DVD drive is making weird noises at times but I've been wondering about it lately anyway).  Hopefully they will fix the issue fast, as bugs related to DRM are unforgiveable.

FWIW, my Vista32 system is having zero issues with the game, no funny noises from the DVD drive included. Now if I could just figure out how to drop something...  icon_wink

Right. Don't have the game from Steam but downloaded the manual from it. Here's a blurb from the FAQ section.

Quote
How can I set my character class?
Unlike many other role-playing games, you don’t have to already set the class of your
hero before the beginning of the game. Over the course of Chapter 1 you will first have
the option of aligning yourself with one of three fractions (Bandits, Mages, Inquisition).
Each of these fractions has different abilities at their disposal, which are not available to
the others or only available in limited measures. Mages for example inherently employ
powerful magic, whereas the Inquisition’s warriors of the Order chiefl y resort to scrolls
and staff weapons; bandits on the other hand are more “hatchet men” and fight with
swords and axes, without magical frills.

And for XP or Learning Points and attributes:

Quote
Levelling
For every opponent that you vanquish, and every task that you successfully
complete, you receive experience. As soon as you have gathered a certain
amount of experience, you will move up to the next highest level, which
means that your maximum life energy automatically increases. In addition,
every time you level you are given a certain amount of learning points,
which you can then invest in the purchase or upgrade of your attributes
and skills.

Quote
In the course of the game you will come across bookstands,
potions, herbs and tablets, which allow your attributes and skills to
increase. While bookstands and tablets permanently increase your wisdom,
the ogre root for example positively affects your strength. Since trainers can
only ever increase your attributes and skills (in “exchange” for learning
points) up to a certain extent, it is certainly recommended to first resort to
potions and herbs when nobody can teach you anything more!

Amazon has it in stock and with 2-day shipping (free with Prime) you can get it by October 2. Nice! I was worried that they would be fiddly, which is how they can be with games like this.

Got mine ready to go and ordered!

Ended up doing the same and will have it Friday as well, giving up on a quest for the CE since it looks like it will only be released over in "Europe" and no clue if there is an English language version. Amazon.de listed it with the languages it supports as "German, German, German" and I don't sprechen any of those three.  icon_wink

That's a fairly old and pretty well known issue, google for "xbox 360 scratches discs" and you'll see. And yes, I assume you should be able to exchange it for something like that.

Generally in DS you're safe just standing still as long as there's absolutely nothing around you. Of course, this doesn't hold true if you're currently connected to the 'net, as a player could come invade your game (assuming you're not dead)...

Lol, no problem then, right?  Personally, though, I tend to assume I might be dead every step of the way in many games... it helps tone down the dejection!   icon_neutral

I once "hid" in a house in Sacred 2 - on the third floor, around the corner from the staircase.  Of course a monster let itself in and found me while I was gone all of 3 minutes walking the dog.   ninja

So... all those times I log on and Myto is there still playing Star Ocean 4, it really should say "Walking the dog" or "Doing the laundry"?  Tongue

ninja gaiden sigma 2 - because someone up here had to smile ...

I'm working on my review for it.   It's totally worth it - you won't be disappointed.

Funny, I downloaded the demo thinking it was something new, a sequel to the first Sigma game. Quickly discovered I'd already played it as 'Ninja Gaiden 2' on my 360. So it seems to be another of those 'ports' where they add in some additional content but I can't imagine there's any reason to get it again if one already has the 360 version, yes? icon_neutral

I have no idea about the 'legality' of any of this but I used to work for ADT in their IT department and at one point was given a sign to take home where it has happily sat in my front yard for years. When my insurance company came out to appraise the house, he specifically asked me if I had an actual alarm system or just the sign. When I laughed and told him the sign was the system, he told me it's a fairly common thing.  icon_smile

I love this sauce.  It's also the highest quality BBQ I have had, as well.  They ship their sauce (and their BBQ) anywhere in the continental U.S.

Any chance you could post the ingredient list? I'm curious about it being mustard based as that's not usually what I buy, worst case I guess I could just order a bottle and try it out. I'm also wondering if you've tried their rub.

The manual patch was released today, it was available at launch via GFWL only which is how I got it. You only need that if it can't link back to their server and authenticate the first time you run it, otherwise it's automagic.

2797  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Call it, she's dead [my TV] on: September 18, 2009, 07:44:34 PM
I think the fact that "240Hz" sets are inherently better is debatable. They come out better in lab tests, but people can't necessarily see the difference. And make you understand there's 240Hz and "240Hz effect" sets out there:

Quote
*MEMC (motion estimation-motion compensation): Both Sony and Samsung 240Hz sets use MEMC to basically double the 120Hz process described above. However, instead of getting one extra frame for each "true" frame, you actually get three extra frames. (See reviews of the Sony KDL-52XBR7, the Sony KDL-XBR9 series and the Samsung LNB750 series).

*Scanning backlight (240 effect): LG, Toshiba, and Vizio use what's called "scanning backlight" technology. Such TVs use MEMC once to get to 120Hz, but instead of doubling the interpolation, a backlight flashes on and off very quickly to achieve what Toshiba calls a "240Hz effect." LG, for its part, fails to make that distinction and uses the 240Hz term without qualification to describe its scanning-backlight models.
