seriously the shorter the better, and i plead a bit of ignorance on the advance of hdmi cord technology so is there even a difference from one cord to the next?

Nope. The ones you buy for less than $5 at Monoprice.com are just as good as the ones they charge rip you off for $100 at Best Buy. It's a digital cable. Either it'll work or it won't. No magical 'magnetic shielding' or whatever term Monster makes up this week will make things better.

Agreed. The only thing I'd add is to look for "1.3a Category 2" cables but that's pretty much all that Monoprice sells. Oh, and sorry, no extra cables.

Exactly. I do volunteer peer-to-peer support for an IBM product that runs on almost everything out there. The client is Windows based but the server can be on Windows or pretty much any flavor of UNIX. Now, I'm old and cut my teeth configuring DOS boot menus and all that arcane crap plus have been on one flavor or another of UNIX since the early 80s. [cough] I'm still amazed by how many people have problems that need to be solved at the command line and who have no idea what to do. My favorite is when they can "see" a command but not run it and are baffled by "-sh: fred: command not found"... and thus begins the whole "relative v. full paths, $PATH setting, your CWD, "./<command>", etc etc discussion.

It's a GUI world out there.  icon_wink

Chaz, does the PS3 version not have trophy support?

You betcha it does.  Though I still miss the trophy points adding to my overall gamerscore.  That's really the hook for Acheivements, and without that, trophies just aren't quite the same, but they are there.

I thought it was funny that the PS3 version has a mandatory install, and then the opening cinematic proceeded to hitch every five seconds for the first minute or so.  After that I didn't see any problems, but I thought it was funny.  The demo didn't do that, so I suspect it has to do with the slow read speed on the bluray disc.

It does say something about that first mandatory portion being just the initial footprint and then it would spool other sections to the hard drive 'as needed' with a maximum size of somewhere around 3.5GB IIRC. And I don't remember any hitching watching the opening, but then I've swapped out the launch 60GB drive for a 250GB one some time ago, perhaps that helped? Or maybe my memory is... faulty...  icon_neutral

I thought the first boss battle was strange.

Spoiler for Hiden:
The first "boss battle" was with Killer Croc right? Or something that resembled him. After dodging his attacks for a few minutes and being unsure of what to do, I finally realized I could throw my batarang at him. I threw it at him a few times and it didn't seem like it was doing any damage, eventually though he grabs his head and collapses. My question is, was it actually my batarang that knocked him out or was he on some sort of timer?

I experienced exactly the same thing. I thought ... oh ... that was easy. Then I thought, well hell, it should be ... I'M BATMAN!

Spoiler for Hiden:
I never even threw a batarang.  I was trying to line everything up so that when he charged, I'd dodge out of the way and he'd slam into the electrified door.  Then he randomly grabbed his hea.

Spoiler for Hiden:
That was just another tutorial section to teach you how to dodge and all you have to do is survive long enough so that he dies first from the Joker poison.

I can see the '?' sitting there, but the room with the ladder in it to reach it is blocked off with one of those electric forcefields.

I'm thinking you'll be able to come back later and get it. Or maybe more like hoping.  icon_wink

I hate the current avatars, so I'm actually interested in getting a halfway decent one.  BTW, I don't think they mean avatars in the Wii/NXE way.  From the stuff I saw, it looks like it'll just be icons.

It sounded like it will just be more icons, they are expanding their current selection. Plus 'premium' ones as well, if you had some strange hanker'n to actually pay for one.

From what I've seen, your 'accuracy' does improve as you level up but I don't think there's an upgrade. It's just that if you pull the trigger and don't override the targetting with the right stick (let it go) he'll do a pretty good job of automatically locking on enemies.

The slim can bitstream some codecs the original model couldn't but haven't heard much other than that and that seems to fall into the 'audiophile camp' IMHO. Oh, plus it supports Bravialink, for whatever that is worth. And I don't really see much chance of "slim only" games as there's no architectural differences between the two - not that Sony is immune to stupid but that would seem pretty stupid to me.

They carry over.  For instance, on mine you'll see a +73 when you look at my profile.  Click on Trade Count and you'll see a single entry for my past feedback.  Everything from now on will go in there, so that trade count will continue to rise.  smile   It's that or Ken has to make 73 separate entries for just me alone, and that's simply not feasible.   Not to worry - your trade feedback will remain intact. smile   This way will really allow us to automate the process. Without starting some kind of Holy War, any idea why a title like this will run at 1080p on the 360 but "only" 720p on the PS3?  icon_neutral

I doubt it's running in native 1080p- I'm guessing that's just MS's scaler- the 360 can scale to everything up 1080p.  With the PS3 the programmers have to manually implement scaling for higher than 720p and not all of them bother to do that.

Ah... that makes sense, didn't realize the 360 would upscale games like that. Every now and then I wonder why the 360 never seems to do a rez switch on my TV when launching games while the PS3 will most of the time since there still aren't a lot of native 1080p games. Funny, because it can upscale movies and PS2 games, though. Thanks.
