This game is all kinds of awesome.  It never gets old using those gadgets.  I would love to see a sequel that takes place in Gotham and involves all the major criminals.

With that save thing.  Just use multiple saves.  I do that for every game I play.  It's standard operating procedure.  I usually rotate among at least three different saves.  Just in case.

You only get one save.

True, but you could copy that one save off more than once. I copy mine to a thumb drive when I remember to and one could do that to more than one if you really wanted to go to that trouble. I'm wondering if I can rename it and copy it back so it would be recognized in one of the other slots rather than needing to overwrite all the time? Have to give that a shot today.

How did you do this? I assume you are on the PS3 version. I put a thumb drive in, and went to Game\Save Games and then Options/Copy. It just says for me to insert storage device at the save location.

Yes, PS3. Not quite sure what that means. When you put your thumb drive in, did it show up under the Photos, Music and Videos menus as a valid source? It should and helps show it is being recognized first. When I then went to my BAA game save, hit triangle for options and then 'Copy', one of the copy destinations listed was my thumb drive. And then just selected it. The copy back is pretty much the same, find it on the thumb drive and copy. You don't have any control over exactly where it goes in both places, btw, but that should be all there is to it.

Tap the emergency brake going into the corner (A button), floor it and counter steer your way through the turn making very slight corrections as needed.

It takes a while to get the hang of it and I still have a tendancy to carry way too much speed with me into the hairpins so I still sometimes end up slamming sideways into the barricades.

Thanks! I'll give that a shot.

To be honest, the way you phrased that last sentence didn't exactly make it seem like you were going to do anything other than trash it.

Everything about your actual disk sounds legit, what I'd assume you had was a "false positive" from AVG and a quick google for "AVG false positive" turns up 121k hits. Perhaps you could narrow that down with either the nature of the threat (did you mention a trojan somewhere?) or with the filename it allegedly found it in, see if it's one of their known issues. I'm also assuming they have forums you could post in and hopefully get an 'official' verdict.

OK, any tips for dealing with the squirrely Subaru you get right off the bat? While I can have fun and be "fine" with most styles of racing, when it comes to drifting... I suck and spend most of my time wildly swinging back and forth on the track over-correcting like a mofo and trashing my ride. So, any sites or tips people can share on the subject? I have no clue what I should be doing to get around curves properly in that style of race.  icon_cry

Thanks.

Wouldn't the source code be whats on the retail disks?

that'd be the assembled code, but I wonder if someone could extract the source from that.

Right, they're looking for the source code not the executables. I know you can in some cases 'reverse engineer' or 'disassemble' back to source code but it's not really the same as getting your hands on the original commented source code... especially if it still has that new code smell.  icon_wink

Right, as noted it still exists but you're not right-clicking on a link but rather a button so it doesn't show as an option. That button launches Media Player and you can do the 'Save as...' from there if you like.

Great, a drive by CeeKay posting.  Tongue

Found some sites, including this one - Amazing Ribs - that seem pretty cool and put out the occassional newsletter as well. Here's one dedicated to Smoker Cooking. Need to pick up some rub ingredients and then see how it all goes today.

Just picked up a Masterbuilt smoker much like the Black Propane Smoker that's fourth down on the page but electric rather than propane. So I was wondering if anyone has any good smoking tips, recipes, sites, books or whatnot to share. Today is 'seasoning' day but have some baby backs I picked up that I plan on smoking tomorrow. So any advice? I've done plenty of bbq'ing in my day but this is my first foray into official smoker land.

Thanks!

I don't believe so as that would be an FSB of 500, or at least not without overclocking the RAM. However, it's cheap enough that getting what your mobo supports should be pretty easy.

2785  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Batman : Arkham Asylum on: August 31, 2009, 02:11:58 PM
I'm assuming 'parry' is 'counter' - the triangle on the PS3 and the Y on the 360. And 'B' would be 'circle' or cape stun.

From the top button, clockwise:

PS3:  Triangle/Green, Circle/Red, X/Blue, Square/Pink(?)
360:   Y/Yellow, B/Red, A/Green, X/Blue

2786  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Bought a PS3 Slim yesterday - new console gamer with questions on: August 30, 2009, 12:04:05 AM
I don't have an issue with the XMB personally, at least I can find whatever it is I'm looking for - which is not always the case for me with the 360 dashboard. [shrug] And not really issues with the store, either.

ps. That is the improved PSN store, you should have seen it before!  icon_razz

got the borrowed PS3 copy and it looks like I'll have until Sunday to finish it.  for some reason the dodge didn't work so well in the first fight where it was pointed out; bad timing on my part I guess.

one question:  does the game point it out the first time the find the item or align the question mark Riddler challenges show up?

NM, just found out it does.  I assume the game lets you backtrack pretty much anywhere, especially since some trophies are behind objects I don't have a way to access yet?

Yes. Interesting to note something I hadn't noticed was missing yet, watched the behind the scenes videos on the disk and in one they mention it is one huge open world with no loading screens. Now, that's a nice thing to be missing.  thumbsup

I downloaded it quickly from the main game site and gave it a try. Overall it seems like it could be fun, but I got to the castle and pushed "A" at the gate and nothing happened. I tried the other two ninjas and still they couldn't get in. So, either that is the end of the demo or I already found a glitch.

If it's like the PC demo, I think you have to push the button down repeatedly, not just once. And perhaps use the big fellow with the hammer? Oh, "A" key not "A" button I guess... thought you had to press the spacebar.  icon_confused

Nope. The ones you buy for less than $5 at Monoprice.com are just as good as the ones they charge rip you off for $100 at Best Buy. It's a digital cable. Either it'll work or it won't. No magical 'magnetic shielding' or whatever term Monster makes up this week will make things better.

Agreed. The only thing I'd add is to look for "1.3a Category 2" cables but that's pretty much all that Monoprice sells. Oh, and sorry, no extra cables.

Exactly. I do volunteer peer-to-peer support for an IBM product that runs on almost everything out there. The client is Windows based but the server can be on Windows or pretty much any flavor of UNIX. Now, I'm old and cut my teeth configuring DOS boot menus and all that arcane crap plus have been on one flavor or another of UNIX since the early 80s. [cough] I'm still amazed by how many people have problems that need to be solved at the command line and who have no idea what to do. My favorite is when they can "see" a command but not run it and are baffled by "-sh: fred: command not found"... and thus begins the whole "relative v. full paths, $PATH setting, your CWD, "./<command>", etc etc discussion.

It's a GUI world out there.  icon_wink
