Keep in mind that I don't think you can be logged into both consoles at the same time

You can't as you need to move the USB drive with your profile on it back and forth between consoles. I ran in that config for awhile and while it worked it was a bit of a PITA. I don't see why the apps couldn't come along for the ride as well although I never tried anything like it.
163  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: GeForce GTX TITAN announced -GTX 780/770 on: October 06, 2013, 03:55:47 PM
I'm looking at EVGA cards in their 760/770/780 line but I'm unclear what the differences in the models mean. Specifically, I'm seeing:

xxx (base model)
xxx SC
xxx FTW
xxx Classified
xxx Classified HC

I get that HC is "Hydro Copper" and is for a water-cooled rig, which is not something I have. Just not sure about the others... SC is Super Clocked so I guess just OC'd out of the box. I was going to joke that FTW was "For The Win" but that's exactly what it stands for. What it means spec-wise I have no idea, nor what makes a Classified a classified. I'll go poke around again on the EVGA site but was wondering if anyone here had any experience with these cards. I love the brand and currently have an SLI pair of their 460s in my rig that I'm considering replacing with one of these.

I recently upgraded my iPad to 7.0.2 and I just went to buy something from the AppStore and... I can't. I click on the price, it changes to 'Buy' and when I touch that there's a brief spin of a wait cursor and then it goes back to showing the price. Anyone know what might be going on?  icon_confused

Well, fixed it. Logged out of the App Store and rebooted. Not sure if that was really needed but some posts online suggested it. Went back into the App Store and when I went to buy, it now prompted me to log in and then agree to new terms and conditions. After all that, it let me buy the product.

That's  the best part of the game!  Reminds me of making maps while playing Zork.

It does have an "auto map". You can have it just draw the floor as you walk across it or floors and walls, too. Or you can turn it off and do it all yourself.  icon_eek

So... got an email saying that if you bought the PS3 version of certain games you could then get the PS4 version at a 'discount' but without any mention of what the discount would be. Turns out, for the current list of games (AC4, Watchdogs, CoD Ghosts, BF4) you can 'upgrade' to the digital PS4 version for $9.99. Details here.

New console, new rules. You can count the number of consoles that ever condoned vertical orientation on one hand.

it just occurred to me:  360, Wii, Wii U, Ps2, Ps3, Ps4....

you can count them all on one hand.....

I always thought it was cool that the logo on the PS2 could be rotated to match the orientation... and it was the last console that I set up vertically. For whatever that is worth. (not counting the Wii of course)  icon_wink

From what I recall I've gotten pre-order Steam keys before and you can enter them but it won't 'unlock' until the game is released, same as if you pre-ordered on Steam. However, from the Bugbear FAQ:

You can buy it directly from us right now if you pre-order. If you choose to wait, you’ll be able to buy it directly from us or through a number of digital delivery options on the PC. A physical retail version is also possible, but not confirmed.

All pre-orders through us come with Steam CD keys once a Steam version of the game is available.

When does it save? I've had very little gaming time lately but have cranked this up I think three times and had to stop somewhere in the first mission every time. And start over each time. Is it only between those missions or are there checkpoints anywhere? icon_neutral

I'm guessing the thread title is sarcastically incorrect?

Not sure I really want to step into this thread but wanted to clarify the subject. It's from a George W. Bush speech on education and the full quote is, "Rarely is the question asked, is our children learning?".

He later came back to this at a Correspondents dinner and said:

Quote from: Urban Dictionary
"Then there is my most famous statement: "Rarely is the question asked, is our children learning." Let us analyze that sentence for a moment. If you're a stickler, you probably think the singular verb "is" should have been the plural "are." But if you read it closely, you'll see I'm using the intransitive plural subjunctive tense. So the word "is" are correct. (Laughter and applause.)

I've got a theory that you aren't visiting people's memories, but perhaps their nightmares, diving deep into the darkest recesses of their minds. After all, there's no historical context to travel to here, unlike in AC. It could be cool if something like a dragon maybe represents a person's deepest fears, trying to defend his mind from something (a memory or realization, perhaps). It would also make the title a bit more profound.

Something like... The Cell?

One of my biggest gripes about my 360 (and my old PS3Phat) was the sound of the disk spinning - sometimes I had to turn the sound down, and that was distracting.

Yeah mine is behind glass in a cabinet so I never hear it but if I leave the cabinet open I sometimes will look down thinking "what the heck is that noise?" Before realizing it's the xbox disc drive.

Are you guys talking about a "slim" model here? While it was certainly an issue for the original design, I don't have an issue with the drive in my Slim. Heck, I seldom bother to install things to the hard drive anymore.

Well dang, it is different on the consoles - or as they say on their forums:

So, again: not completely the same, not completely different. The changes made to console contain elements of Loot 2.0, but the experience isn't identical nor is it as comprehensive (also keep in mind that some tweaks were specific to console and are not currently planned for PC).

I must be in the minority then.  I thought the Move was terrible (I did try it) but then I really don't like Wii interface either.  I don't want a higher fidelity Wiimote as a gaming peripheral.  It wouldn't change my mind if it got a ton of great games to support it.  Kinect like devices is the future imo so it seemed odd to me that Sony took a step backwards in the motion tracking department.

Yeah, the Move was very well done, but if you don't like that control style, it certainly wouldn't change your mind.

Agree on the Move and I was pleasantly surprised how well the wheel / handlebar controller they built to house it works. Still have zero interest in "Kinect like devices" and if that truly is the future then I guess I'll be happily gaming in the past.  icon_wink

I'm not sure whether or not you're referring to Oculus Rift and its ilk as "Kinect like devices", but just in case you are, that's very far from the truth. Where Kinect is an alternate method of control, Oculus Rift is a way to increase immersion (and dramatically so according to those who have tried it).

If that's directed my way I certainly wasn't...

I've completed Act 1 and it's safe to say I prefer the console version. Feels better on a game pad, better loot drops, and couch coop is awesome of course. Playing on hard normal mode is pretty challenging so far but aside from losing item durability on death, there really isn't much of a penalty considering you can re spawn at your corpse after five seconds. I'm sure the gold hit will be a pain in later difficulties, however.

I feel like there are way less drops than the PC version (granted it's been months since I played on PC so not sure if that's changed)

That's correct. Less drops, better chance at quality loot that actually benefits the class you're playing.

Meaning, yes it has changed on the PC as well. Known officially as "Loot 2.0".  icon_wink
