Ok, but I want an option to delay downloading until a week after an update is released and see if it is still available. I would be very surprised if the PS4 doesn't have an option to automatically download and install updates, even when it's turned off.
It will.

Buyer beware. I finished up the British campaign and started into the Ameican campaign and... it's the same thing. The planes are different, but the missions seem identical and follow the exact same progression. You even start out with the same mundane tutorial missions.
The game itself is still fun, but unless the French and German campaigns are somehow different, I don't recommend anyone pay for more than the $1 British campaign.
The campaigns are all the same (you can skip the tutorial missions by choosing the accelerated option). Since there is a choice of missions, though, there should be plenty of replayability. Some have remarked that the planes feel significantly different/require different tactics, but I haven't tried yet.

What's the difference between the different human factions? Is it just flavor text?
Yeah. The humans are the starter race that are all the same. There are multiple human factions so everyone can play humans if they want.

Didn't know about the Q reprisal. That's funny. It is definitely true that the best cartoons work on multiple levels. Some of Disney's cartoons are great in this regard (I still don't know how anyone ever got Dave the Barbarian greenlighted...), like one of my favorites, Phineas & Ferb.

Seen this a few times lately, where a game that looks really cool during development, ends up being full of suck to a greater or lesser degree. I'm looking at you Hell Quest. Having a vision when designing a game is really important, but you have to take a step back sometimes and ask "is this fun?"

I actually expected it to be 9.99, surprised it was so low. There are a couple of video tutorials for the board game that really help get the basic idea down. My sense is that it is kind of codex by board game standards, but not at all by 4x computer game standards. I haven't picked it up yet, but definitely will at som point. I like the idea that there are a limited number of turns, as one of my dislikes of 4x games is the way they tend to drag on and on. No, it's not the latest entry in the Twilight series, but rather a very impressive looking 4X space-themed TBS game. Anything that draws comparisons to HOMM gets my attention, and I've seen a couple glowing reviews. $6.99 is a little steep, but it looks awfully interesting. Has anyone given it a shot?

Actually, the developer has said on the TA forums that each chapter will be a completely separate APP. They say they have a system in place to import characters from one to the next.
I've also seen the statement (can't recall where) that the first is the shortest, but not sure.

I would ask this, what would you think of an adult that just now is watching Batman The Animated Series. I think many would consider it a classic and for myself that is the Batman that I put above all others.
I LOVE cartoons, and I can name piles of animated shows (or children's shows in general) that I think are awesome (Muppet Babies, early Blues Clues, Rollie Pollie Ollie, Arthur, Between the Lions, Madeline, etc). My observation that the thread is surreal stems from your particular choice of MLP. I'd rather watch a marathon of the Wiggles (Fruit Salad, Yummy Yummy!) The idea that you'd use Batman:TAS in the same context just demonstrates how different our viewpoints are. But hey, if you are enjoying it, rock on! I'm not criticizing, nor would I, just strikes me as really out there. Awwww heck. Now I've got the Wiggles stuck in my head. Looks like I'll be going insane before Andrew.

The other dudes in the lineup are in Tyler's rap group, right? And Tyler's place is taken by the goat, which he voices. That all makes sense on some level. I think people are getting upset over two things: the misogyny, and equating young African American males with animals (which is a comparison that has unfortunately been around for a very long time).

Yeah, I was just watching a gameplay vid on TA and it looks fantastic. I've played tons of gamebooks, but not this series. This is apparently the first of 4 parts. No ETA on the rest.

You realize a PS3 IS a wireless player, right?
Unless it is a first gen 20GB model. From everything I've read, any Blu-ray player will give you a great picture playing a Blu-ray Disc. The PS3 happens to be one of the best upscaling devices for playing DVDs, until you get into big bucks for something like an Oppo. The downsides to a PS3, depending on model, tend to be that it is big and noisy compared to many players.

I don't necessarily agree with that blanket statement. I know personally there are some sites I frequent for news more than others, games or otherwise. When I stumble upon one I like I usually bookmark it and come back. This is a common behavior, really, so I'm not an outlier in this.
Fair enough, I'm exaggerating. But I do think it is the case that readership of news sites tends to be more fluid. For instance, if a great news site popped up tomorrow, it might immediately change how often a reader goes to other news sites, but it is less likely to affect what forums they go to. I think forums are more "sticky" in that regard.

Define "next level", Mike. What's the goal?
I'm with Reemul...there may be tons of page views, but the forums aren't reflecting that. People coming to view stories aren't being drawn into the community. At the same time, I think there are probably many forum vets that don't look at the front page. The two are not integrated. I think it would be desirable to capitalize on some of the foot traffic to build the community.
I would take a long look at what TouchArcade is doing. It might not be perfect, but they do a nice job of driving traffic from news articles to the forums (or at least attempting to) by linking to discussion threads from articles. They also use their search engine in their app the same way. When you search for a game title, there is a link to the discussion about that title on the info page. If there isn't a discussion, you can start one from the info page.
News sites are disposable. There are tons of them. There's no allegiance to them.

Mike & Ron, I think maybe there aren't more replies, because it isn't at all clear what you want people weighing in on. What is it you want an opinion on? We all know banner ads are evil, so not much need for discussion there. Are you asking about crowd funding, what?
I've donated to the site in the past and willing to do so again.

I'm hoping the Apple Airport Extreme is made of sterner stuff than your experience with the Express.
It absolutely is. Will never use another wireless router again. Is that based off the 2011 version or an earlier one? Any idea what changed, if anything, with the most recent generation? I'd invest the money in new ones if I thought they would perform better than the previous gen. Otoh, those are nearly 2 years old and probably due to be replaced soon. We have 2 fourth gen extremes (one is actually a time capsule). The backup function of the time capsule has always been a pain in the ass to get to work properly and the need to reset it is relatively frequent (because it goes ballistic like it is moving massive data...like a DOS attack or something). I've probably owned hardware from 3 or 4 different generations of airport hardware and they have all been "ok".
