The only problem with that thought is that both the pistol and the mp5 shoot the same round!  The mp5 is just more accurate at distance.

ahhh, but the mp5 shoots them FASTER!  more bullets is almost as good as bigger bullets, MWAHAHHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. *ahem*  i think i'll stick with my big guns.
42  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / GRAW!! on: June 18, 2006, 10:15:27 AM
mp5 i might do...not pistols, bleh.  they're just so...small...  i have this thing against guns with bullets smaller than my index finger.

Hmm... I'm pretty sure that I got the perfect chapter one achievement when we had to chase the hummvee down... could be wrong though, all the runs start blending together after a while.   smile

usually, we never let the hummer get past the open courtyard in front of the treasury--between m60, 50-cal, and a bunch of random riflemen on the ground (hurray for jarrodhk and soulchilde...XD), we tend to take care of at least the driver pretty early on.
44  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / GRAW!! on: June 17, 2006, 11:34:20 PM
if it were me, i wouldn't pay more than $5 for a 4-mission chapter plus bells & whistles.
45  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / GRAW!! on: June 13, 2006, 05:30:20 AM
JHK: You lead, honey.
MM: ^_^.  *SMITE*
JHK: ....owie.........

hmmmm, i do seem to have a slight problem with getting shot as i try to get more M60 ammo....i shall have to see about abandoning my teammates to backtrack to safer ammo dumps.  XD
46  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / GRAW!! on: June 12, 2006, 08:46:37 PM
i don't think i could do them by myself, but Jarrodhk and i pulled off the co-op campaign as a duo, no sweat.

I really liked the trailer, but that's all I've seen.

What does <3 mean?  I see it everywhere now..

lol, it's a heart.
48  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Excited about Assassin's Creed on: June 12, 2006, 09:15:01 AM
the June issue of GameInformer features a 10-page article on the upcoming Ubisoft game Assassin's Creed.

i, for one, am VERY excited about it.  in fact, it's the first time i've managed to get excited about the PS3 (since, unfortunately, AC is going to be a PS3-only release).

basically, Assassin's Creed will be taking the Prince of Persia engine to the next level, from a technical standpoint.  the main character, Altaiir, has over 4K animations, compared to the 800 animations in PoP.  story-wise, it's supposed to be a combination of fact and fantasy--based on the original muslim cult from the late 12th century.  obviously, the only thing history would have on a secret cult like the assassins would be the reports of people outside the cult, so there's a lot left over for the game developers to think up and fudge, but it sounds like it'll be very historically faithful other than that.

and, of course, i'm all for another stealth-based adventure. <3

what do you guys and gals think?
49  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / GRAW!! on: June 12, 2006, 09:06:55 AM
  awwwww. it's always nice to hear that people like to play with me (no pun intended, you naughty boys).

as for "still playing it online"....

i've never even finished the first mission in single-player!  XD  i couldn't stand it.  the checkpoints are way too far apart, for one thing, and the friendly AI is among the most retarded i've ever seen (on par with the henchman AI from Neverwinter Nights..."here comes halfling death!" indeed).

i'm looking forward to a silenced sniper rifle...does anybody know if there's another big gun for an autorifle-loving gal like me?  i'm really attached to my M60 by now, but i think i'd be willing to readjust if i met the right high-calibre gun. <3
50  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Chronicles of Riddick. How did I miss this? on: June 12, 2006, 08:53:12 AM
i loved it.  the ending seemed somehow abrupt and strangely-scaled in difficulty compared to the rest of the game, but it was a charming and novel experience (when it first came out, anyway).  i liked going back to the badass persona that riddick started with (as opposed to his 'i used to be a badass, but now i'm a conflicted and reluctant antihero' persona from the movie CoR), and some of his lines were so wonderfully 'classic riddick' (like "it's not the fall that kills you...*SPLAT*'s the sudden stop at the end.").

okay i need help - i'm just about to finish clavicus viles daedric quest, but whenever i give him the sword, get his mask or refuse to give him the sword my 360 locks hardcore - anyone have this problem? any way to work around it? help!

YES  exact problem i've been having!
really torqued me for a long time.

(i also had a problem with one of the thieves' guild quests -- when you have to retrieve the cat-chick's ring, it doesn't spawn where it's supposed to be, for me. i finally went back to my assassin quests and paid the blood-price to skip the thief quest.)
52  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What's your favorite X360 game? on: May 18, 2006, 05:58:15 PM
_....i suck at geometry wars.

but i like oblivion and graw. <3

oblivion is pretty, but graw is too much fun for words.
53  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Who finished Ninja Gaiden? on: May 18, 2006, 05:56:16 PM
finished NG a long time ago, but i'm stuck on the second fight with Alma in NG:B.  they changed her so much (the projectile immunity is a pain!) that i'm really having trouble dealing any significant damage to her without getting my ass tanked.
54  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / New GRAW Co op Mission soone to be released on: May 09, 2006, 08:04:22 AM

56  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Ghost Recon.... on: May 08, 2006, 07:27:38 PM
ah, i picked up japanese smilies from my online japanese pals, in chats and blogs and stuff. i find them much easier to read, myself, and i love the range of them (although even japanese use some horizontal smilies...most loudly-laughing and cat-faced smilies like XD, =3 and the like).
57  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Attention female gamers! Atari wants to hear your opinions! on: May 08, 2006, 07:21:13 PM
"real"?  of course i'm not real!  and i'm certainly not a girl!  and i definitely wouldn't play video games if i were both real and a girl at the same time!

<-- that picture there? that's just some random hot japanese chick.

now now, purge, jarrod doesn't die *that* much in graw...not all the time, anyway.......

hepcat: keep calling him "Sybil" if you want.

and conclusive proof that jarrod and i aren't the same person: i'm much shorter, i'm far more violent, and i love sappy RPGs like FFX and Kingdom Hearts.
58  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Attention female gamers! Atari wants to hear your opinions! on: May 06, 2006, 11:41:04 PM

y'know, unbreakable, i consider that a horrible insult to female gamers.  the "guys who play Sims 2 on the iMac" crowd are a social strata far below that of female gamers.  they're somewhere in there with "people whose eyeglass lenses are thicker than one inch," "people who wear pocket protectors for no good reason," and "people who like AOL."
59  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Ghost Recon.... on: May 06, 2006, 11:38:41 PM
same here.  my vidcard would run screaming at the sight of such a dense texture pack.

didn't we decide he sounds more like Samuel L. Jackson?

YAYYYYY somebody finally wants to GRAW with me....T_T  i'm so happy i could shoot something.

i'll be bored most of the weekend, at least in the evenings.  during the day-ish stuff, i have to work on an essay and a take-home stats test.

BUT THEN!  ahhhh, then, my friends, i will go back to shooting many, many things.  (and we found out thursday that i am absolutely terrible with the MRC...i don't seem to be able to handle a gun that i have to stop and aim.)
61  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Attention female gamers! Atari wants to hear your opinions! on: May 05, 2006, 09:25:04 PM
i'm all for them asking for female gamer input.

obviously there are too many laymen out there who can't distinguish between the two very different species: The Common Female (sorority chickus) and The Female Gamer (chickus kick-your-assus).  and those ignorant slobs think i want Sorority Shopping Spree III when i really have a burning need for them to hurry up with Samurai Warriors II.
62  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Attention female gamers! Atari wants to hear your opinions! on: May 04, 2006, 08:47:04 PM
lol, the questions are really open-ended; there was one about "what do you like most in a racing game" and i mentioned gameplay beyond pure racing (e.g. Demolition Racer, Burnout, Full Auto).
63  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Attention female gamers! Atari wants to hear your opinions! on: May 04, 2006, 08:45:26 PM
the guys on AtariCommunity were really asinine about it.

they said things like:

"never take women into consideration when making a racing game, if they do you will probably get interactions like:

customise avatars lipstic in car mirror
parrallel parking aid

and getting silly things like:

lamborghini's availible in bubblegum pink
rose tinted glasses
a collection of 30,000,000 pairs of shoes availible to buy for your avatar"

now i know why i'm a member of GamingTrend instead.

and for those ignorant pigs' information: 1) i put lipstick on before i get in a car. 2) who the hell would play a racing game that required you to parallel park? 3) i think the virtual life aspect in racing is retarded ("money" in a racing game should only go to upgrading your car, not making you some cute little virtual mansion *eyeroll*). 4) lambourghini does make cars in bubblegum pink.
64  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / advent children impressions on: May 04, 2006, 08:27:52 PM
i'm somewhat confused about the game releases; my japanese friends told me Before Crisis was a cell phone game, but i think if it's translated it should become a psp release, is that right?  ^_^;;;; that would make sense, i suppose.

and Cid is awesome.  he's a superhero, did you know that?  Profanity Man!  (yet he mysteriously swears a lot less in english....and in the movie....)
65  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Oblivion now rated M on: May 04, 2006, 08:24:20 PM
i thought the rain of flaming wolf corpses was pretty funny (although i would say it's disturbing for anyone under 15ish)...and i kinda have a really morbid sense of humor, too.  but i'd say all the graphic violence should have gotten the M.  i've yet to see anybody nekkid in the game (but i play console, so what do i know?) and in pretty much anywhere but the US, toplessness doesn't really count as nudity.
66  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Attention female gamers! Atari wants to hear your opinions! on: May 04, 2006, 08:09:25 PM

and who the hell says "dilly-dally shilly-shally" in this day and age??? i haven't heard that expression since my great-great-grandmother died!
69  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / advent children impressions on: April 30, 2006, 10:53:35 PM
yeah, farscry, i definitely agree.  that particular aspect of the movie was spoiled by that person's frequent appearance.

i definitely agree that rude and reno were better in the japanese version (the american voice for reno sounded too whiny, when reno's really just a rude and somewhat lazy punk).  also, i felt like kadaj's voice seemed a little too old for him (maybe that's just me; in the japanese version his voice/mannerisms struck me as those of a 13-15 year-old, but in the american version he seems closer to 17-ish).

and yes, advent children was always meant as something for ffvii fans (in other words, most of japan).  square wasn't at all concerned about such a thing being a problem since ffvii is (still) the most successful final fantasy of all time.

the voice actors are a mish-mash of famous actors and famous voice actors -- there's mena suvari, rachael leigh cook, christy carlson romano, and crispin freeman, but also beau billingslea (most famous as Jet Black from Cowboy Bebop), steve blum (who's done v/a for pretty much everything, but is most famous as Spike Spiegal from Cowboy Bebop), and george newbern (superman in the newer Justice League cartoons).  so...i'd have to say, yeah, there's tons of famous people in the movie. *shrug*  still, i really prefer the japanese version -- the voice actors are better as a whole, and the script (what there is of it besides fights...^_^;;...) loses a lot in translation.

71  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Do current gen games look significantly worse on an HDTV? on: April 24, 2006, 06:28:29 PM
jaggies on a ps2 are fairly standard; the vid progging and the vidcard aren't actually designed to withstand the close scrutiny of hdtv (unless otherwise indicated by an hdtv resolution somewhere on the game box).

kh2, for instance (and Radiata Stories, the few times i played it on Jarrod's tv instead of in my own room on my pansy little 19" tv) is absolutely breathtaking in the FMVs (square's fmvs tend to be very hi-res), but has horrible jaggies during gameplay.
72  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / PS2 and 16:9 on: April 24, 2006, 06:24:02 PM
i have the same problem with Jarrod's hdtv on ps2 games.

i was playing KH2 the other day, and even though the ps2 is now set to 16:9, it didn't display properly; i had to manually set the tv to one of its widescreen views (which has a bad tendency to trim the edges of the screen a little, which any KH fan knows gets rid of the HELP bar at the top; for KH2 it also gets rid of the DRIVE/LIMIT option in the command window and can trim off the MP bar, even).

i'm not sure if it's to do with the games or the tvs, but i don't think it's the ps2 itself.

actually, you can sort of super-jump--just get your acrobatics to 100 and you can jump a LONG way.  not as cool as the mods/haks for pc, which are 'real' super-jumps, but still fun.

yeah, definitely going to CC!  w00t....can hardly wait!

also, back on the topic of the special giftset -- i was given to understand that not only were they about $300 each, but there were only about 300 of them made.  it might've been fewer...i don't quite remember.  but they were sold out ages and ages ago, and you'd have to give up several internal organs to get your hot little hands on one. (but beware, transmutation of such a high level can result in homonculi...XD)
75  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Perfect Dark Zero - Huge Hit or Colossal Failure? on: April 22, 2006, 05:08:59 PM
heh.  Jarrodhk and i come from the "if i kill them all, they can't tell anyone they saw me" school of stealth, as far as PDZ goes.
76  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / FF7 Advent Children English videos on: April 16, 2006, 09:36:11 PM
i'm not terribly concerned about the special gift set, myself (especially since there weren't very many made).  i have my cloud/fenrir figures (the re-sculpt; i know the bike isn't painted quite as well, but i don't mind), i have the soundtrack.  a cel would've been nice, tho...
