Those of you lauding History of the World Part I, have you seen it lately? I remembered it fondly from childhood, but when I watched it as an adult I could not find a reason to chuckle. Granted, the only Mel Brooks movie I really liked was Blazing Saddles, and that one is still very funny to me.

Finally watched this yesterday.
Big Country knows how to win. His gut-smothering crucifix is a nasty move and it's going to get a lot of inexperienced fighters. And, as we saw, he can throw a mean right hook.
Kimbo Slice is still not impressive. Houston Alexander was a fight hand-picked for Kimbo. Dana White, who is a very smart promoter, was desperately looking for a way to get Kimbo in the octagon after disparaging him when he fought for the competition. On the show everybody saw how vulnerable Kimbo was. Dana got him in the octagon against a guy who isn't known for his ground game. Kimbo won in a terribly boring fight.
One thing that was interesting about Kimbo in The Ultimate Fighter was that Kimbo was waiting for someone to get hurt so that he could get a second chance. When there was a question about Mitrione fighting, everyone assumed Kimbo would be his replacement. Why? Of all the fighters that lost he was the least impressive, so if I were in the house and had lost a close fight, I'd be pissed that this guy, who was completely dominated, gets to fight instead of me.

Playing the Call of Duty games on Easy means that you bought about one hour of gaming. Hard is frustrating some times, but, as Leo said, if you don't play that way you'll finish that game in a depressingly short time.

Boxing Day. They came looking for a fight.
It doesn't matter what they call it because this movie is going to suck. The trailer for the original wowed us because we had never seen such incredible destruction before. Now that's old hat, so what's the draw? More of the same, including unfunny attempts at comedy and horrible plot devices?

He's been with his wife for over twenty years I think. The fact that he's been cheating (my assumption) with women (plural) that work for him is not going to sit well with many people. Now that it's public the story could get more sordid and his image could get tarnished. Sponsors could drop and ratings could fall as people decide to give this new guy Conan a chance.

He knew it was going to get out, so he decided to put it out his way. What surprised me was that the audience hooted and hollered when he admitted to having had sex with women on his staff. It reminded me of when Michael Richards was uncomfortably apologizing for his tirade and the audience laughed.

I don't think Riverworld's material would make a good movie. Maybe a TV show, but not a movie. The explanation of the world they gave at the end of the series was pretty bad, so it would be best left open ended like Lost. A movie would probably require a decent conclusion.
I don't remember much metal either except for the group that gained control of the iron or meteorite, but it's been a long time since I read it.

I don't know what to think about this. She has a serious drug problem and this "bombshell" and publicity tour seems like it's being used to make money. I'm not saying she's lying, but it will take more than the word of a drug addict trying to make money to make me believe John Phillips was an incestuous pedophile. It does raise doubts about him though, which is a shame considering how despicable the claim is.

I really want to see this. I'm not sure if Tyson is a product of his environment or not, but it seems like when he needed guidance the most he did not receive it.

Trash talking is fine, except when it's the national spotlight and you're rubbing a defeat into the oppenent's face as they're shaking your hands. Because of the punch, which was a MUCH greater offense, Hout's action got a lot of attention and there are a ton of replays showing a Boise St. player not representing the team well. That's why it calls for a suspension. Had it not been so public a good talking to would have done.

The first was decent, but nothing special. Overnight, the documentary about it, was much better. It should be called Karma.

While I don't condone the punch and think Blount needs to sit out at least a few games, if not all of them, Hout was a total dick (assuming he said what is being reported, something like "that's two ass-whuppin's you owe us") and deserves to sit out a game himself. He didn't represent his university well either.

Rambo 4 was good because of its excess. He visibly disemboweled a guy and shot another in the head with a .50 from one foot away. What made that last scene so great was that for the next few shots you could see big chunks of brain and hair on the gun as he's shooting everybody else. That scene was perfect. PERFECT!
The last Rambo and Rocky movies made up for the previous forgettable entries. I'd like to see them both end on a high note and I don't think Stallone has it in him to make another good Rambo. Excessive gore won't work for Rambo 5 because he just gave us that. It will have to be something different and I don't know that we'll get something different.

How was this done in the old days? Was there some official that looked over the girls and said "I think you're going to have to prove to me that you're all woman"? I guess that's why gender judges were prized positions.

you probably are more aware of what you're putting into your body. This seems very likely. People who exercise generally are more concerned with what they eat. When you're not as concerned it's easy to eat more than you crave just out of habit. Once you start exercising you realize that you don't need to finish off a meal with that piece of apple pie to feel content. Hunger didn't dictate your craving for that apple pie before. Your mind just told you that it was okay to continue eating.

That's a really disturbing thing associated with dog fighting. People will have their dogs stolen to be used as training dogs. The idea of somebody stealing my dog and then killing him just to make their fighting dogs tougher infuriates me. This is why I cannot forgive Michael Vick. Fuck him. I'm just glad the Saints stayed away from that piece of trash.

I agree for the most part, but again, he won't be their primary QB for at least the next 2 seasons, so he isn't limiting the teams potential at all.
You're right. I think I was refuting an argument that you weren't actually making. I think this is a very good move for the Eagles so long as they don't plan on ever making him their primary QB.

I don't yet know what his role will be in Philadelphia. Until proven otherwise, I will contend that football teams with runners as QB instead of passers will limit their potential. I remember him running all over my beloved Saints, but I do not believe he will be able to do that to the better teams in the league consistently.
Honestly, would you rather design your offense around an unbelievable running QB or a solid passing QB? As an example, I believe the Falcons are much better off with Ryan than if they still had Vick.
