Oh baby. Even though it's mostly junk in the first screenshot, I still get all giddy inside -- because that's a boatload of chances of something totally awesome.
The second? Drool. Dang nice haul there. Yes, I have a loot problem.

Found this just mucking about. Must be a gigantic patch tomorrow.

Quote
Hey all,
We're looking good to go live tomorrow at 6AM currently. Lots of great bug reports and feedback were delivered by testers yesterday and our build is looking quite good - we should be on TC in the early afternoon with what should be the final build.
There is one piece of optimization change in this build that is huge though - we have changed the way that the database loads your heroes to prevent database slowdowns and issues. To do so, we will load your entire account on first login which will cause a slowdown (if you logged into TC any time in the past week, you will have seen this.) Because of this, we will be using a queued system that will start at a low threshold and gradually increase until it's no longer needed to prevent unnecessary amounts of database usage all at once.
tl;dr
Just after the patch tomorrow there will be a login queue that will gradually go away. When you log in, you will likely see a single big hitch as we load your stuff. This is to make the servers faster in the future.
-----
Edit - adding:

Um holy smokes, 5 gig patch today with a TON of new stuff + the Odin's Bounty event, which is my 2nd favorite (after Midtown Madness).
Gazillion is kicking everyone's butt right now

Right on! The Midtown Madness event kicks butt. I love me some loot - and it has loot-splosions the likes of which gaming has never seen. I read it's possible that an Odin's Bounty is coming up for the next event - that's another lootsplosion event which also kicks major butt. Boss loot gets turned waaaaay up for certain bosses at certain times. It's a great way to find awesome artifacts, depending on your level (early/mid 50s, maybe 60 for some). Just thinking about it is giving me the itch to get back at it.

Nice! Pretty decent track. They seem similar to where they were at back in the day.
Thanks for the heads up.
4  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Marvel Universe MMO F2P on: September 07, 2014, 02:38:46 AM
Just going back through this thread - it's a completely different game now. Not many people survived the launch. I'm glad I waited, because it's fantastic now.

I am currently on a break from the game - I played it into the ground and have most of the characters @60. They just keep adding cool stuff and new things to do. It's a blast, though. It's unfair to compare the game to Diablo 3. Diablo 3 isn't even in the same ballpark of quality. I did like D3 better on console (vs PC), but what was added in the most recent expansion makes it pretty clear, it's not ever going to come close in quality and options vs Heroes. I'm a hack n slash nut and I haven't played a game on this level since Diablo 2.

The thing that I liked most about Heroes is I never really knew what I was going to do when I logged in. I just did whatever was fun and just played the game as a game (1400 hours worth woo!). I got away from that way of playing way too much and burned out. It's still a game I'm going to go back to, though. I hope sooner rather than later, they are adding Magneto as a playable character soon (oh baby).

One other point is if you follow the game, you'll see that there are always events going on - giveaways and that. Also, if you read the Heroes forums, you'll be blown away by how good the community is and how good the communication with the dev team is. Well, I was blown away, anyway. Never seen anything like it.
5  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: World Cup 2014 - Draw on: December 07, 2013, 04:42:32 PM
The US likely won't get even a point with that draw. Maybe 1. MAYBE. They also have to travel about 9000 miles in the group stage. There is no group this difficult. The US won CONCACAF and is the 'tomato can' of the group. Needless to say, I'm not happy, but I'm eager to see how our boys do. I'd like some revenge vs Ghana.

Dang, Liverpool just dominating Fulham. 3-0 at the half. The boys really needed to get back on track after that disaster last week @Arsenal.

Obligatory Saturday post:
Luis Suarez is the man. What a goal. Liverpool owes West Brom after some tough losses last season.

Edit WOW! What a header by Suarez - from the freakin 18. That's ridiculous. 2-0. Woo!

Defense has been very poor for City, but at least they equalized against Everton.  I'm not sure if Hart is the problem or the defense as a whole.  City needs a win

They do need a win. They look very potent in attack. After Everton scored it seemed to wake them up a bit. Pretty exciting match thus far.

Edit - yeah the defense is weak most of the time this season, but my criticism of Hart this season is he does let up some soft/flukeish goals and hasn't recently been 'bailing the team out' like a top netminder does at times to steal points.

Edit - Hope the 2nd half is as good as the first.

Nice way to start the day with Everton visiting City. Be interesting if Joe Hart can stop anything today and if City can get their confidence back. I can understand getting stomped by Bayern Munich, they are amazing. Sheesh, the D looked lost in that match. I'm surprised by their slow start. Tough one against an unbeaten Everton squad. Should be a fun one.

A lot of people are saying Moyes out,i called them all dickheads and they should go support Chelsea if that's how they feel biggrin

Meh, I don't like when fans put all the blame on the manager. I'm really surprised by United's record thus far. They have waaaaaay too much quality for how their results are going. I think a good run will sort them out. I wouldn't worry about it too much. To be fair, only the loss today was really unexpected so far - the other 2 were 'good' losses, if there is such a thing (@Anfield, @City). Moyes is a solid coach. It takes time to learn how to run one of the top teams in the world. United definitely isn't Everton. They will be fine. Maybe not top of the table fine, but they will be in there.
14  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: EPL 13/14 - OO continuation Thread on: September 28, 2013, 04:00:44 PM
WOW! Shocking results. West Brom winning one @ United and Villa beating City? What the heck? Maybe we'll get lucky and Arsenal will struggle with Swansea for the trifecta (not likely). I can't believe United lost at home. Heck, Cardiff pulling out a win at Fulham is another good upset. Cardiff is playing really well.
15  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: EPL 13/14 - OO continuation Thread on: September 28, 2013, 03:08:48 PM
WOW! Villa tied it! unbelievable. That guy had to be off. Shocking. City has dominated so far.

Edit: Well, that didn't take long. City back in the lead.

Edit: unbelievable! Can't believe AV took the dang lead!

Ahh nice lineup of games today. Nice start to the day with Spurs/Chelsea. Two teams still finding their identity, I think. Torres is starting today. If Chelsea gets him going, they're going to be fine. Can't believe Mata is on the pine. I just don't get Maurinho, but he sees them in training every day, I don't. At least he wised up and is playing Luiz more. Love me some Sideshow Bob. Really talented player... Probably more suited for defensive midfield (due to his chance taking).

Oh baby, love early Saturday mornings. Should be a fun day.

Di Canio sacked by Sunderland, didnt take long.

Heh, guy is a knucklehead, but I kind of like him for some reason. Sunderland is really bad to begin with. Hopefully whoever takes over the helm finds a way to find Altidore the ball. He's been Sunderland's best player and hasn't finished one yet (robbed vs Arsenal, however).

I thought it was funny that DiCanio was complaining that his players didn't all speak english - when he was the dope who brought them all in. I thought it was neat when he went to applaud the fans and in his way apologize. That's how it looked to me when it was happening, anyway.

Pretty good game so far with a bit to go. Shame about Benteke. Hopefully it's nothing serious. Be big for Villa to get back on track on the road.
Tough one for Liverpool today at home. Southampton has played tough this year. Not really looking forward to the Fulham/Chelsea match. Mourinho just isn't getting the best out of that club yet and it makes their games pretty tough to watch.

edit: WOW, Guzan came up HUGE late in the match. Well deserved clean sheet.

Heh, Voldemort. I guess we can forever call that the 'Voldemort' game, where Shelvey was booked, scored, assisted on 1 goal for his team and 2 goals for his former team. All he needed was an own goal and it would be a game of legend.

blahhhhhhhhhhhh. Stupid Rodgers and his pulling the dogs off 2nd half garbage. Ugh, it drives me mad. Yeah it worked versus United, but arg, it drives me nuts as a fan. Liverpool plays sooo much better when they maintain possession. Ah well. Really exciting match.
Well done by Swansea. They probably should've pulled ahead there, but a draw is fine I suppose. Being top of the table after 4 is not somewhere I figured Liverpool to be at all.
26  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: EPL 13/14 - OO continuation Thread on: September 16, 2013, 07:53:34 PM
Real good one @ Swansea going on. Very exciting first half. Poor Shelvey - brilliant start and then 2 really boneheaded plays. I'm really excited about Moses taking Coutinho's spot out left and Coutinho roaming more. Dang Moses just brings so much energy and speed. Glad he got rewarded with a goal. Good to see Sturridge stay hot, as well. That was a real gift from Jonjo. I don't know how long Liverpool can keep Michu/Wilfried off the sheet, it should be a good 2nd half.

Dang, can't wait to watch the Everton/Chelsea game.

Sheesh, Ozil, to me, makes Arsenal sooo much better. Yeah it's no duh, but I think he puts them solidly in the top 4 and possibly closer to the top. Dang he's such a good player and that attack is just nasty. The Gunners should've put that game away real early. Arsenal did get away with one, though. No clue how Sagna didn't get a red and the official didn't play the advantage on the controversial call that could've made the match 2-2. I thought it was a horrible horrible call by the referee. Shame for Sunderland, they finally played well in the 2nd half. Meh, happens.

Can't wait for Monday. Big game for a chance to stay at the top of the table for Liverpool. It'l be a tough one.

I was questioning the reasoning behind featuring the Crystal Palace/Sunderland match on TV, but easily was the best match of the weekend. I want to go to Selhurst Park now. That place just looked insane from the pre-match through the very end. I hope they can stay up.

And Rebecca Lowe is a Crystal Palace supporter.

I think because US national (and probably the 2nd best American player aliver) Jose Altidore plays for Sunderland. That's 2 weeks in a row they put Sunderland on in the US. Not a team you'd figure to see on, really. Sadly, Altidore was out for the game.

Sakho, Iilori, and Moses all confirmed for Liverpool. Great bit of business there. Wouldn't mind them grabbing another attacking player, but I'm not holding my breath.

Woot! I don't know the other 2, but I know Moses alright from watching him at Chelsea. I really like the energy he brings and his ability to press the attack. Even if Moses is just on loan, it's a welcome addition. I'm pretty happy overall. I just hope the boys keep putting forth a strong effort and stay up on the table.

Strange market when a player with 1 stunning season commands that sort of coin. I hope he does well. Bale was really fun to watch with Spurs last season. He scored some goals that made Deadspin use a headline: "Bale scores basically when he wants to". Be interesting to see what moves Madrid make today. That midfield is friggin loaded. Crazy when you have players like Modric and Di Maria not in your starting 11. I read some interesting rumors - but we'll see what happens. There's mumblings of Liverpool looking to add some depth, which would be great. Be nice to upgrade quality in the midfield a bit and possibly a central defender (not sure how long Toure will be out). I'm not certain they are good enough for the 'top 4' with what they have over a long season, but I'm certainly happy as can be with being top of the table and Suarez back in a few weeks (assuming they don't move him today - fingers crossed).

No doubt about Hull City. They've played decently thus far. Backbreaking goal, though, for City - and then Toure to finish them off - dang. What a shot. Good on City getting it going there.

Man, Everton needs some quality in their finishing and ASAP. They're really struggling offensively. Something just seems 'off' with their attack from last year. Really impressed with the play Cardiff has put forth 2 weeks in a row. Granted they were at home, but still, for a team expected to do nothing, they've played pretty damn well.

Drag to hear Altidore has a hamstring issue and didn't play today. That probably kills his ability to play in the US qualifiers coming up. GRRR. We need um and he's been on fire for the national side!

Ugh, Fellaini would be depressing on United. No point, other than supporting Timmy Howard, to watch Everton if they deal Baines and Fellaini. I wonder how crazy it will get after the games this weekend with transfers. Some rumors have been nuts (especially the Arsenal raiding Real Madrid one).
Looking forward to tomorrow's games. Should be another fun weekend woohoo. 4 am wakeup call again GO!

Nice on Rooney starting. Kind of surprised by Mourinho not starting Torres. If he can get to the form he was in late last season, Chelsea will be in good shape. Really surprised by Mata not starting again. He was one of the keys to the team down the stretch last year. Hard to argue with a successful manager, though. Dang, a heavyweight match this early in the season? I like it. Hope the game lives up to the energy/hype.

Mata is rumored to being sold but I guess that hinges on Rooney being sold to Chelsea which would be stupid

Ahh, didn't hear about the Mata rumor. I don't get either player moving, but I'm just a stupid fan. Rooney would be nuts to leave United (or them to let him go). Chelsea has a lot of players they need to sort out then (Torres, Ba, Luiz, Mata). Way too much talent on the bench being inactive. To be fair, Chelsea was way more interesting to watch last season. Much better tempo.
