It has affected me far more that I would have ever suspected.

Me too, me too... Fuck. Going to truly miss the guy, what a sad timing too only a week or so after his wedding. Bye big man, will miss you.

A lot of questionable posters have been banned from GAF as well.

One particular hilarious one right now, noticed him already when he claimed that the last of us review scores weren't impressive and anyone could do that if they just hyped up the press enough, which he demonstrated by mentioning Uncharted 2 and Bioshock infinite not being a good games still getting great reviews lol

But yeah, the user got banned in the polygon thread now while defending MS like a crazy person, being quite obvious.

"Xbox 360 Kinect owners had some trouble today watching Microsoft's Xbox One reveal due to device's response to "Xbox" commands spoken during the livestream."

I'd bet that 95% of people who have an xbox or a ps4 has it connected online...  The other 5%?  Well, times are changing, time to adapt.  I really don't see the issue.  This type of thing happens all the time as technology/features change.

That it's not a problem for you doesn't mean it isn't a problem for other people, there's still (as crazy as it sounds) lots of places where having a good connection just isn't possible and you pulling a 5% number out of your ass is far from correct. The only actual numbers and stats I remember seeing are from 2010, but they will do :

Seventy-eight percent of PS3 users have the console connected to the internet, while Xbox 360 has 73 percent and Wii has 54 percent, according to Diffusion Group director of research Michael Greeson.

New controller looks good, everything else ranged from meh to shit really. Showed barely any games and focused on it being a cable box with voice recognition? Not very exciting microsoft. Also funny how they didn't want to say anything much about their ram or cpu... Mandatory install and paying a fee for used games is hilarious too.

Also not surprising to see Arthur Gies out there being his usual half retarded self on this, if I worked at Polygon I would be angry enough with him to quit, talk about making your whole company look bad.

and yeah the rumours a few weeks ago was that SONY are going the no used games route as well(not digital only, just no used games),i think it would just be better to not bother getting upset about any of this yet, until its all official

Wasn't that just people yet again finding those patents for the no used game tech Sony made? Patents hardly means they are going to use it, but it would make sense if both MS and Sony made a deal about doing this, cause it would be suicide for one of them to do it alone.

Microsoft’s next console will require an Internet connection in order to function, ruling out a second-hand game market for the platform. A new iteration of Xbox Live will be an integral part of Microsoft’s next console, while improved Kinect hardware will also ship alongside the unit.

Sources with first-hand experience of Microsoft’s next generation console have told us that although the next Xbox will be absolutely committed to online functionality, games will still be made available to purchase in physical form. Next Xbox games will be manufactured on 50GB-capacity Blu-ray discs, Microsoft having conceded defeat to Sony following its ill-fated backing of the HD-DVD format. It is believed that games purchased on disc will ship with activation codes, and will have no value beyond the initial user.

Our source has also confirmed that the next Xbox’s recently rumoured specs are entirely accurate. That means an AMD eight-core x64 1.6GHz CPU, a D3D11.x 800MHz graphics solution and 8GB of DDR3 RAM. As of now, the console’s hard drive capacity is said to be undecided, but Microsoft’s extended commitment to online delivery suggests that it will be the largest unit it has put inside a console to date.

Though the architectures of the next-gen Xbox and PlayStation both resemble that of PCs, several development sources have told us that Sony’s solution is preferable when it comes to leveraging power. Studios working with the next-gen Xbox are currently being forced to work with only approved development libraries, while Sony is encouraging coders to get closer to the metal of its box. Furthermore, the operating system overhead of Microsoft’s next console is more oppressive than Sony’s equivalent, giving the PlayStation-badged unit another advantage.

Unlike Nintendo, Microsoft is continuing to invest heavily in motion-control interfaces, and a new, more reliably responsive Kinect will also ship alongside the next Xbox. Sony’s next-generation console camera system is said to have a similar set of features, and is expected to be discussed at the company’s PlayStation event on February 20.

You can read more about how Sony’s next generation console compares in last week’s story, PlayStation 4 revealed.

Kind of excited about this despite there being a few worrying signs. But at least the cast is awesome, Asa Butterfield was great in Hugo and seeing interviews with him he does seem like a great fit for Ender. But yeah as Fireball also says : Fuck Orson Scott Card, good thing that he doesn't have too much to do with the movie, he might have created it in the first place but he's a lunatic.

Metal gear collection was done by Bluepoint Games, a decently competent developer. Silent hill collection is done by some team who has only done mobile phone games and then some frogger game for ps3, even the developers website is broken haha.  No idea what the 360 version is a port of, but it certainly is less buggy, while still being a shit port though. The ps3 version at least is so bad that amazon took it down.  eek

3/10 from destructoid

http://www.destructoid.com/review-silent-hill-hd-collection-224478.phtml

and yeah the 360 looks the same. It doesn't have a hilarious amount of frame rate problems for a 10 year old game like the ps3 version however does, apparently only very little and only in SH3. This is yet again konami not giving a shit about the franchise and shitting all over it, Downpour was a step in the right direction despite the technical issues but I am sure Konami will throw the game to some new random developer with yet another sequel again. Maybe this time they will hire my chemical romance or limp bizkit to do a theme song.

Also just a pro tip to konami : next time when doing a port of such respected games, you might want to bring in some more experienced devs, some that has worked on something bigger than frogger and one that actually got a working website.

Pretty much. I am not really surprised by the news, most of all the creative forces behind the older LH games (and bullfrog) has jumped the ship a long time ago (wonder what Media Molecule are up to) and Molyneux was clearly not thriving under MS and wasn't under EA either. He might seem crazy at times but I like his crazy ideas, sometimes brilliant games comes out of it and he should be out there experimenting with new ideas, not milking fable of every last drop of milk.

Hopefully he can start a new independent developer yet again and this time be smart enough not to let himself be bought by any big corporation.
