Whatís really puzzling about that decision is they are also not carrying the 3DS anymore.  The WiiU makes sense but the 3DS is selling like crazy right now.
762  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Did you beat....Final Fantasy VII? on: July 30, 2013, 01:18:59 AM
Nope.  This may have been the first game I owned that I never finished.  I had only every played CRPGs up to that point but after all the hype the game received I decided to try it when it was released for PC.

Most things I enjoy and attribute to ďroleplaying gamesĒ donít exist in JRPGs and I was very disappointed.  I didnít get very far.  To this day I have only finished a handful of JRPGs.
763  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Do you wear a watch? on: July 29, 2013, 09:39:11 PM
Nope.  My whole family kills watches just by wearing them.  Mechanical or electronic, it doesnít seem to matter.
764  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (07/29) on: July 29, 2013, 03:01:10 PM
If you include Sunday, I will be picking up Pikmin 3 on the WiiU.

Iím a Decker with Drones who looks really funny with melee weapons.

A minor nitpick but melee combat is this game is animated laughably bad.  I donít so much hit enemies as gently massage them with my weapons.
766  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Wii U on: July 26, 2013, 03:53:18 PM
The console is fine, the lack of games sucks.

ZombiU is the game that best shows off what makes the system unique.
New Super Mario Bros. U is a great 2D Mario game.
Nintendo Land is great if you can get 3-4 friends together.
Getting the Rayman Legends Challenge App for free gave me probably 20 hours of enjoyment by itself.

With Pikmin 3 coming out in a couple weeks and Wonderful 101 plus the new Mario coming later this year, things are looking up.  Itís just a shame it took them almost a full year to release the first set of games.
767  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Did you beat....Fallout? on: July 26, 2013, 03:37:42 PM
Yes, only about three times.  I've finished Fallout 2 at least six times though!  These are all my time favorite RPG's.

I think once Mario went 3D is when I started not liking them.  Couldn't stand Galaxy, never tried Galaxy 2 and the 64 remake for the DS didn't get far with me, yet I played through Super Paper Mario on the Wii just fine.

not sure how I'm going to feel about Super Mario 3D World...
Have you tried New Super Mario Bros. U ?  Itís 2D and more or less feels like Super Mario World 2.
769  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Did you beat.... Super Mario Bros? on: July 25, 2013, 08:52:25 PM
Yep, a game has to be really bad or incredibly frustrating for me not to finish it once I start.

I haven't had a chance to play yet, but if you had to redo conversations wouldn't it be faster the second go because you already have read the dialog?

In theory yes, but since there are skill based dialogue options that can affect gameplay you canít just ignore everything because you may get an outcome you donít like.  Also, certain actions only open up if you pursue the right dialogue tree.
771  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] Shadowrun Returns (official review on Page 3) on: July 25, 2013, 07:29:22 PM
Those are more copouts than anything.

1.   Games are meant to be fun. Donít dictate to your consumers what they should consider to be fun.

2.    Simple fix, donít allow the game to save during combat.  While not saving in combat can be annoying, the gaps are long enough to be annoying even for basic play without the threat of death. From what Iíve seen so far, outside of combat people mostly stand in one place so there is no danger of what they mention outside of combat.
772  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] Shadowrun Returns (official review on Page 3) on: July 25, 2013, 07:03:13 PM
I have to disagree about the saving.  I just put about two hours into the game and the save system is atrocious.  Given how much time is spent investigating or talking to people, if you have to shut your game off unexpectedly plan to spend a long time replaying content.

An example of this come from pretty early on in what I assume will be a main base/hub for the game.  The time between entering the Seamstress Union and leaving was almost 30 minutes.  There are about 5 different people within the building that you have to talk to including shop keepers and even a little bit of investigation.  If I had had to stop mid play though and go through all of that again I would have been pretty pissed off.

That said everything else about the game is exactly what I wanted and is quite wonderful, itís just a shame they blundered on such a basic level.
773  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Free Facebook cash...and no entries? - Feedback on giveaways on: July 24, 2013, 09:19:43 PM
I already own all the games offered except SSDD, which doesn't interest me at all.  Facebook cash would also be wasted on me.  Now a nice gift certificate to Amazon....

If you're going to run similar promotions I would suggest focusing on the newer indie titles to come out.  With the exception of Van Helsing, all of those games could have been picked up for for a couple dollars in the Steam sale and anyone who was interested probably already did.

I kinda wish that games would put in more ways to be a bad ass and defeat enemies, whilst not actually killing or maiming them.

While not to the degree you're looking for, the Knife of Dunwall DLC expansion does offer a couple more nonlethal options.

782  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing on: July 18, 2013, 07:58:19 PM
Pretty sure that 90% of the complaints come from the (still) broken co-op and the fact that they released paid DLC before fixing said co-op.

However, the club nintendo $30 credit thing you'll have to make an account in then put your game PINs in there.

If you buy a lot of games on Nintendo systems, Club Nintendo is actually pretty cool so I would highly recommend it anyways.  Every game/system you register is worth points, get enough and you can trade them in for free games on the eShops.  Iíve gotten 3-4 games from the program in the last year; mostly SNES era titles.

Iím actually a bit curious of the age differences between people that did well versus those that didnít.  I purposely avoided taking American history classes in school because I found it so dull in comparison to world history.  Iím guessing that wasnít as possible 15+ years ago.

Got this on a Steam sale and finally started playing it.  Went in with pretty low expectations but I'm finding it really good.  It's like playing an action version of Everquest 2.

It came with a bunch of DLC like Teeth of Naros which starts at level 10+.  I'm wondering, should I skip these until I finish the main quest?  It wouldn't be good if it overleved me and the main quest provided no challenge.  I didn't even like the weapon pack that I got to start with.  Bunch of set items that basically made loot pointless for the first part of the game and combat trivial.
I played this way back when it first came out and was very happy with it.  One of the problems it has though is that regardless of what you do, you will hit max level before the end of the game.  If you try to clear every area in the game you pass-through (DONíT DO THIS!) you will hit max level by about the 50% mark.

The developers admitted at one point that they incorrectly assumed that people would just follow the main quest line and pick up the odd quest here or there and balanced the game around that idea.

If you want the highlights of the optional quest lines track down the House of Sorrows, Scholia Arcana and Warsworn.  All of them have good story elements and fun gameplay.

I would say House of Ballads is the worst set of faction quest in the game.

As for DLC, the Dead Kel expansion is better than anything in the main game so I would definitely make time for that.

Not having building at all seems like a missed opportunity.  Have a full RPG experience and then let people build whole cities to congregate at, trade in and defend.
