Dogmeat only showed up in FO2 during a special encounter where you found the hotel and it was filled with all your pals from FO1 including Dogmeat.

Pretty sure Dogmeat was recruitable in Fallout 2 as well.  Seem to recall having him in my party for a little while…until he thought it was a good idea to attack one of the Enclave…poor doggy.
1444  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Liquid cooling (Coolant) on: April 10, 2008, 09:23:03 PM
My system has a Coolmaster Aquagate S1 cooling system and on the whole I’ve been very happy with it but recently my computer has been making the most horrible high-pitched and whirling noises.  At first I thought it might be my hard drive but on investigation I discovered that it is related to the cooling unit.  Lifting the tubes up I can see that there is a lot of air in them and I’m thinking I need to refill it.  The problem is I don't have the slightest clue where to look to buy the coolant itself.  Is this an item I can find somewhere like Best buy or Circuit City?   And for anyone who has had to replace the coolant, what sort of endeavor am I in for?

1448  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Guild Wars? on: April 06, 2005, 05:02:32 AM
I got in one of the later betas and really enjoyed it.  The thing is if you don’t like to group you might as well look elsewhere.  From what I saw 95% of the game revolves around group questing.  Also one of the things I enjoy most about WOW is the trade skills which don’t even amount to a foot note in Guild Wars.

Starcraft(single player and hundreds of online hours), the Fallouts, and Alpha Centauri.

I’ve played through all four numerous times.  Baldurs Gate 2 gets an honorable mention

I wasn’t trying to single you out warning; but I have often seen parents who try to solve problems that they don’t want to deal with by simply pushing them out of sight.  Regardless of what security you use or how adamantly you try to shelter them, there is always a work around, and children will almost always manage to be smarter than their parents and find it.
1454  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / The wonders of Biometrics and pr0n on: February 11, 2005, 08:41:05 PM
I’m a little baffled by this last bit.  I have no problem with parent being concerned about their children and wishing to guide them, that’s what a good parent does.  However, I learned about sex in the first grade, other children swore regularly, and violent movies were the in thing at my school.  Not to mention that I watched a 2nd grader throw a snowball at a friend which inadvertently contained a shard of ice which severed his ear.  All of this in the first couple years of school.

Violence, sex, and profanity are part of everyday life, part of our culture; to deny this to a child who, unless very young, has probably already seen worst seems not only impossible but very foolish.

1456  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / My first WoW PvP experience on: January 18, 2005, 06:06:58 PM
I play on a PVP server but I’ve never really cared for the actually play vs player conflict.  At this point I don’t see much point in doing so and most of the time its extremely high levels preying on low to midrange characters who have just left the safety of their homeland for the first time.  The only time I will attack another person is if they attack me first.
As well I tend to play to the opposite of rivalries and will actually help low levels Orcs in their homelands when I see them about to die; wave and continue on my merry way.

Any chance we could get a newbie oriented server up and running?  I tried playing today (First time) and was massacred at every opportunity.  For the time I played it seemed fun enough but the servers I saw were not very inviting to a newcomer.

1464  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW: Professions on: December 31, 2004, 02:36:26 AM
I play a rogue with tailoring and enchanting.  I would have chosen leatherworking but I group with a druid friend regularly who has the skill so she shares her wares with me and vice versa.  For the most part tailoring is worthless for a rogue as most leather items are better then their tailored counterparts.  However, having access to free bags at the start of the game is a gold mine.  Plus being able to make green or better items in mass really boosts my enchanting skill, which I have found to be extremely useful for a rogue.  Also, all the stylish shirts I can create make me feel special.  biggrin
1465  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / How much time do you solo vs. group in WoW? on: December 29, 2004, 06:05:19 PM
I play almost exclusively with a good friend of mine so I solo very little.  In truth I don’t find soloing nearly as much fun as being in a group but then again I’ve never had to try and group with people that I don’t know.

Besides, grouping with strangers you would miss out on great moments like this!

She’s the cat; I’m lunch.

1469  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / BIOS/ Driver problems on: December 21, 2004, 04:58:32 AM
Since building my computer a while back I have continued to have startup shutdown problems with my computer.  First of all when I first start my computer I get the error message that “No BIOS detected”.  Despite the error message windows starts without fault.  From within the system everything seems to work fine, the only problem I see is that when I open my device manager I get a conflict with something called WinXP Promise FastTrak 579 Controller; a driver that I installed from a diskette that came with the motherboard.
The real problem comes only when I try to turn off my system.  No matter what I do I get a fatal exception (Blue screen of Death) error and I end up having to reboot my system manually.

My motherboard is a Soltek SL-K8AN2-GR/K8AN2E-GR I’ve tried to access to makers website, listed as but it seems it no longer exists.  What should I do?
1470  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WOW: enchanting? on: December 20, 2004, 04:08:10 AM
I chose enchanting and tailoring for my rogue and have had a blast with it.  The truth of the matter is that tailoring wont do much good for a rogue after you get past the wool stage of the skill.  I use mine primarily to make goods to disenchant to buff my enchanting skill, which works fine but seems like a waste.

What about the face cloths I see people wearing?  I’m a 23rd level rogue I want one too!
1473  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / So I just finished Unreal II on: December 15, 2004, 03:00:22 PM
I enjoyed Unreal II a lot.  I liked the graphics and the crewmates. I really liked the defend missions and the flamethrower!  Despite all the complaints it received I even liked the refreshingly less then cheerful ending.  Halo was fun but unlike the poster above I cant remember a single individual level in the game.  Each to their own I suppose.

I’m with Chris; I played through D2 on normal had a lot of fun, bought the expansion pack, brought my character over and finished it, tried nightmare for a few more levels and then moved on.

That said I’m not really looking forward to Diablo III right now though.  Starcraft 2 on the other hand…
1475  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Anyone else sneak into Moonglade? (WOW) on: December 08, 2004, 08:01:26 PM
In all it took about 35 minutes to swim there. Ten of which was spent trying to find a low enough mountain ridge to get in though; anyone who has ever been to Moonglade knows that it’s completely surrounded by high mountains.  It helped that I have a druid friend who was guiding me to what she though would be the lowest points.

As to fatigue it’s not really an issue.  I’m an elf so one of my cities (Auberdine) is not that far from Moonglade, I just had to stick to the coast and stay out of black water.

I have a few screen shots but I’m having trouble posting them

Just thought it was funny and had to share.  biggrin
1478  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / State of Fear on: December 07, 2004, 04:45:41 AM

I was just browsing the web and I stumbled onto the news that Michael Crichton was about to publish a new book.  Great!  After looking for ten minutes I still don’t really know what the book is about.  Here’s the universal blurb I find everywhere, perhaps it means more to you then it does to me.

“The undisputed master of the techno-thriller has written his most riveting -- and entertaining -- book yet.
Once again Michael Crichton gives us his trademark combination of page-turning suspense, cutting-edge technology, and extraordinary research. State of Fear is a superb blend of edge-of-your-seat suspense and thought provoking commentary on how information is manipulated in the modern world. From the streets of Paris, to the glaciers of Antarctica to the exotic and dangerous Solomon Islands, State of Fear takes the reader on a roller coaster thrill ride, all the while keeping the brain in high gear.”

Why would anyone write such an uninformative book description?  I’m assuming that’s what’s getting printed on the book jacket as well…

Anyway, the books coming out December 7th
1479  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Are my speaker’s dead? on: December 05, 2004, 09:21:31 PM
I turned them on today and was greeted by a low humming radiating from my sub.  In order to get any sound at all I need to crank the sound all the way up but even then I can barely make out anything.  These are klipsch THX speakers; I’ve had them for a few years and would rather not have to replace them but at this point I don’t see much of an alternative.  Any ideas?
1480  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Funniest WOW bug you’ve encountered on: December 05, 2004, 05:24:06 PM
Last night I was playing WOW with a friend of mine; we had just cleared out a Furbog camp and had proceeded further to the north to look for mushrooms.  Suddenly for no apparent reason she started spawning bears when ever she would stand still.  Within five minutes the entire upper level of the cave was filled.  At first they all spawned passively but the absolute highlight was when they started to attack and she responded, “How dare they attack mommy!”

Of course we died and the problem went away but it was hilarious, I couldn’t stop laughing.

So what’s the best/worst/funniest bug you’ve encountered?
