Search Engine Optimization is actually one of the responsibilities I have at my job, is the website in question the one in your signature?
1402  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Carnival Season 1 $20 (Dead both seasons back up to $43) on: June 11, 2008, 10:56:56 PM
Still $60 everywhere around me.  A bunch of other HBO shows for around the same also.

edit - Deals dead now

A cool little locust simulator.  nod

It needs some indication of victory though; I eradicated the evil greens and then waited for like five minutes before I realized nothing was going to happen.
1404  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Blu-ray xbox 360 to be announced this week on: June 08, 2008, 11:02:06 PM
Am I the only one who would be happy if this news were true?  I’ve actually contemplated buying a PS3 BECAUSE of its blue ray player; the system itself interests me very little.  An X-box360 I would be far more inclined to enjoy.
1405  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Job hunt on: June 08, 2008, 04:36:23 AM
I’ll second craigslist, I’ve found a number of freelance jobs on there; although I suppose it depends what you majored in. I’m a recent grad myself, most of the people I know haven’t found work yet and its been a little over a month.

Luckily I did some work for an individual while still in college, he contacted me around graduation asking if I could fix a problem his company was having with one of their websites.  I corrected the problem in three hours and impressed the company’s board so much that I had a full time job a week after college graduation!
1406  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: How does one make female friends? on: June 07, 2008, 09:27:45 PM
Umm, I collect swords.  They’re sort of like guns…only sharper and don’t shoot things.
(Strangely enough all the women I know seem to love swords)
1407  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: How does one make female friends? on: June 07, 2008, 08:00:23 PM
How does one make male friends?  I don’t drink, like sports, or care about cars…most of my friends have always been women…

Awesome, when Arcanum came out I tried hard to love it but there were so many things that got in the way.  Reinstalling now.   nod

I hope they release some of the other races soon, I will be really disappointed if I can’t be pointy eared and sneaky.

It’s unlikely they wouldn’t be included but they don’t seem overly popular of the relic forums.

Amazon gets to one up the previous collector’s edition.

Cool but the $130 price tag is too rich for my blood.  Who’s going to take the plunge?
1411  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Power Bills Soaring? Turn Off The Playstation 3 on: June 05, 2008, 12:38:44 AM
Not that surprising.  When I started unplugging my entertainment center stuff when not in use my power bill went down by almost $20/month.
1412  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: What should I know about buying a HDTV? on: May 24, 2008, 10:58:47 PM
I appreciate the responses.

Right now I don’t actually have anything that makes use of HD, but in the near future I can see that changing, especially since my 5 year old DVD player is making terrible clunking sounds on a regular basis.

Right now I have an Xbox (old) and a friend’s Wii, it would be nice to be able to use them from more than three feet away and not have to squint.  Obviously I want both to look as good as possible on my new TV.

This is the one I have been eyeing
1413  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / What should I know about buying a HDTV? on: May 24, 2008, 04:45:34 AM
Well about two weeks ago I got my first real job out of college.  After living on about $5/day for the last four years I find myself in a much more comfortable position.  My boss loves the work I’m doing and one week pays my rent so things seem to be looking up.

Anyways, my current TV is an ageing 19 incher with fuzzy picture and fading audio and I would like to upgrade.  The thing is I don’t know anything about HD but at this point almost anything is better then what I have.  I don’t know much about cable/satellite either, my family could never afford it and I never really felt a need for it after I left home.  I didn’t even have a phone until two weeks ago when my employer said I was crazy and bought me a cell phone.

I don’t want to spend too much, paying off loans is much more important to me, but I don’t have a lot of other desires or expenses.  Within the next month/month and half I would like to find something.

Sooo…fill me in, what’s the best TV for around a grand and what do I need to know?

82% and I didn’t really try.  Most seemed pretty obvious but taking Latin in school might have helped some.

Was this game that good?  I never played it...
Yeah, it is.

Yes, it most definitely is.

If you are curious what it is like, it's kind of a Zelda clone when it comes to gameplay, but with a much more modern and interesting story and it's a bit more compact.

When the game first came out I was turned off by the childish looking graphics but on playing it quickly became one of my all time favorite games.  Offhand I really can’t think of anything that I didn’t like about the game; truly surprising and enjoyable.

But it’s worth it!  A week after college graduation and I’ve got a job!  A really nice one too, starting pay is almost double what anyone else in my family makes; my family is definitely on the lower income spectrum but I’m still in shock.

I’m still kind of waiting for something terrible to happen; my luck usually isn’t this good but until it does I’m pretty happy. I might not even have to live in a cardboard box!  Woohoo!   icon_smile

The closest arcade to me as a kid was a 20 minute drive away so I never got to play in the arcades much.  I do remember being taken out on one birthday where we played some X-men game from start to finish.  That was a fun day; I think the game was Children of the Atom or something like that.  Probably not on anyone else’s list but that would be my top!

Spoiler for Hiden:

There’s actually a concept picture of two face circulating around, apparently it’s been taken down which gives some credibility to it being real but I actually hope it’s not; too jarring for my taste.

Warning, it’s pretty gruesome.
1423  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Graduation! on: May 04, 2008, 04:31:08 AM
It was a long day, mostly sad to think I won’t see many of these people after today and the ones I do will never be seen as a group again.  I had a rather small select group of friends so thinking about losing them is not a pleasant thought.

I was part of the Multimedia and Graphic Design program at Champlain College in Burlington Vermont.

Yep, the real world sucks.  You'll look back at your college years and remember them as some of the best of your life.

Maybe maybe not.  I’ve been working three jobs to pay for college since freshman year; my family couldn’t afford to help me at all so I have footed the bill from day one(I’m the first in my family to go to college, most family members didn’t graduate high school).  Hasn’t left much time for fun so the thought of having only one job and no schoolwork sounds great.

But thanks for all the congratulations!

1424  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Graduation! on: May 03, 2008, 12:11:40 PM
In two hours I will officially be graduated from college!  Even better I’m graduating with honors!  Four years have gone by far too fast but on the bright side I had a very promising interview  Wednesday so hopefully I will even have a job lined up in the very near future.

22 days . Never found the bow. The chainsaw worked best for me till the end when my barracade fell and the thing would'nt start.

I found the bow twice in the 2nd location; the town in the middle of nowhere, not the city.

The bow might actually throw some people off because there is a slight pause between each shot but the fact that you are never get screwed over while your guy is reloading a whole clip more than makes up for it.  I actually find that pause helps me because it encourages me to aim for the face and get a lot more one shot kills, whereas I almost never find myself aiming with automatics.
1428  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Fun Time Waster on: April 29, 2008, 12:25:59 AM
I actually think the bow is the best weapon, head shots are usually one shot kills and there is zero reload time.

After playing with the automatic weapons for a while I switched back to the bow.  Definitely my favorite weapon, took me all the way to victory.

A few odd design decisions aside I’m actually enjoying it quite a lot.  I do have to say that I hate the control scheme though.  Half the time I’m trying to walk peacefully through a city and I end up punching random people.  I guess I just can’t help myself.

Is the cost of living really that much worse in NY?  Looking on my own finances and living in Vermont I figured I could live comfortably on $35grand and still pay off the ridiculous number of loans I have that paid for my college.

Heh I have pretty much gotten wrecked on a few phone interviews this month.  Apparently, studying isnt going to help when they interview you for a different position smile

Nope, not bitter about it, o noes.  I figure I need to do this as much to get every bit of my memory and codeskills back.  I just hate not being top notch and I dont feel it at the moment whihc probbaly shows on my interviews.

Kind of off topic but I’ve been expanding my search radius a bit and was amazed by one job posting I saw today.  Around my area you are LUCKY if you can find a job that pays $40grand a year and you will be doing everything; I saw one in NY making PowerPoint presentations and the pay scale was $75-$90grand a year.  I giggled uncontrollably for a good five minutes then forwarded my resume.

I don’t have the 5 years experience they want but for that kind of money I will take a chance and apply anyways.  icon_biggrin

I’m actually in the process of applying to places right now.  I pretty much have definite from a smallish web design firm but I don’t really want to work with them and the salary isn’t great, if you could give me a lead on where to look I would love to check it out.

I’m a soon to be Graphic Design graduate with modest game design experience if you need another artist.  Lately I do a lot of web work so if you need a website and have a place to host it I would be willing to help there as well.  Besides, it would look good in my portfolio.  icon_smile

Well we didn’t have much money and only got to eat out maybe once every couple months but when we did it really came down to ‘why have hamburger when you can have chicken?’

I’ve never eaten a hamburger from a fast-food restaurant and I’m 22.  It just seems like a waste when it’s something I couple make myself for cheaper.  Besides, I only like hamburger when it’s been burnt past the point of being recognized as meat anyways, so I doubt I would like it.
