1402  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / The new beta testers' WoW impressions thread! on: November 11, 2004, 06:33:09 PM
Quick question; I’m a rogue and I chose pickpocket as a skill.  What can I do with it?  I can’t steal from other players, I can’t steal from NPC’s, and I even tried to steal from a wolf- that didn’t go over so well.

Am I missing something?
1403  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / The new beta testers' WoW impressions thread! on: November 10, 2004, 05:14:44 PM
So far I have been under impressed by World of Warcraft.  I love the graphics, I love the variety of races and items, but group questing-the only reason I see to play a MMORPG over a single player RPG, seems to be completely broken.  I might be just missing an option somewhere but I don’t see the point in questing as a group (aside from added protection) if the quest items are not shared.  Basically if the quest is to collect ten maliciously evil plant seeds I don’t want to have to collect thirty just because I have three people in my group.  Not to sway to far off topic but just having completed the Guild Wars beta I can say that although a good share of the game was flawed, the team questing options were superb, and I would much rather have preferred a system like that implemented in WOW.

1406  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Shrek 2 DVD - Why on Friday? on: November 02, 2004, 08:03:34 PM
Really?  Where I live, or rather 15 miles away at the closest theater you pay $4 for a matinee and $5.50 for regular.  We usually go to matinees to avoid the crowd.
1407  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Shrek 2 DVD - Why on Friday? on: November 02, 2004, 06:38:46 PM
Why do people buy food when they go to the movies?  Doesn’t it just distract you?  When I go we just buy two tickets and can get in for less then ten bucks.
1408  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Prince of Persia: Warrior Within demo on: November 01, 2004, 05:29:58 PM
I downloaded the demo about a week ago, wasn’t really impressed with the change in atmosphere from the first.  There was another impressions thread bouncing around here somewhere.

Chances are I will find myself on the side of the horde with an Undead something (Not sure yet).  Maybe we can have a CG civil war.
1410  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Are you going to play Guild Wars preview 10/29-10/31? on: October 31, 2004, 07:23:27 AM
Played through the beta through to the last mission.  Who ever heard of a stealth mission in an online game?  Baring the oddness it has to be my favorite mission!  Stumbled through it with a group of good friends; it was awesome, and frequently hilarious.  I still think the game play is less stellar but overall the game is good team oriented fun.

1412  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Guild Wars? Anyone playing it? on: October 29, 2004, 03:00:51 PM
I’ve played for about four hours and from what I’ve seen it would be virtually impossible to go through any of the missions completely alone.  You can pick up henchmen but the AI is a bit lacking and they tend to get stuck on objects quite easily.  The best thing the game has going for it has to be the graphics; except for a few abnormalities they are simply stunning.  My biggest gripe overall is that the over simplistic game play makes me think its really Dungeon Siege Online, click on enemy, choose spell or attack, wait 30 seconds until its dead, occasionally run away and heal, rinse repeat.  Also the fact that teaming up is basically a requisite finding like-minded people to travel with might be difficult, luckily I have a few friends I’m trudging through the beta with.

Overall it’s a fun diversion if you’re with people you know but I can’t see it having much lasting appeal.
1413  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Are you going to play Guild Wars preview 10/29-10/31? on: October 28, 2004, 09:03:32 PM
I was hoping for more choices in the character creation portion.  All you do is choose a main class to set your main appearance and then hair, face, and skin color.  Pretty model graphics though.

Oh and I would look for a link here http://www.guildwars.com instead.  No download wait.
1414  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Project Entropia on: October 27, 2004, 06:16:48 PM
There is no monthly fee and it’s a free download.  There is really no reason not to check it out if you are even remotely interested.  If you chose not to pay at all its very possible to play, if a bit tedious at the start.  As I said I haven’t put a penny into the game and I have gotten to the point where I can actually make money.

Also, strangely enough, unlike most online games I’ve played, the people I’ve met are very helpful and often quite courteous.  Again I’ve only been playing for a couple days but it seems like a nice environment.
1415  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Project Entropia on: October 27, 2004, 04:15:17 AM
Any Gone-er-Console Golders play Project Entropia?  I’ve recently installed it and having had no previous experience with a MMORPG I’m having fun.

For those that don’t know it’s a real world economy based game, 1 real US dollar is worth 10 Entropian dollars.  Other then that the game is completely free.  I started the hard and tedious way, refusing to spend any of my own hard earned money and I have worked my way up to a net worth of about 20 Entropian bucks. (Whoohoo I made two dollars playing a computer game!)

I’ve only been playing for two days but now that I have weapons I’m finding the game quite fun and addictive, am I likely to see any familiar faces sporting fancy orange jumpers?

1418  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Creepiest Mittens Ever on: October 22, 2004, 05:43:33 PM

Don’t call my childhood memories creepy!
1419  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Reformatting and Install on a Dell on: October 22, 2004, 05:37:40 PM
I was trying to help a friend yesterday and we were having a lot of problems.  He is running a fairly modern dell system, (I don’t know how old but the warranty is up) but he tried to reinstall Windows but ended up receiving numerous error messages stating that the hard drive usage had changed, or something to that regard, and that he should contact Dell.  The thing is after this I took him through a full reformat and we were still unable to fully install windows.  My question is does Dell do something to imprint their computers somehow so that regular users can’t work on them?  I’ve installed Windows numerous times and never had a problem remotely like this.

1422  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Netflix - did they cut their price? on: October 20, 2004, 11:29:45 PM
Something has puzzled me for a while, how much money does it cost most of you to rent DVD’s where you’re from?  I can get two night rentals for $2.50 locally and they generally have new releases in the day after they are released.

Coupled with the fact that it’s rare for me to find two movies out in one week that I have any interest in I’ve never seen where Netflix is that great of deal.
1423  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / PoP Warrior Within demo on: October 20, 2004, 02:52:51 AM
Am I the only one who enjoyed the combat of the original?  I thought it was pretty easy to get a handle of.  I played it on X-Box but I can imagine it being that much harder, generally I prefer mouse and keyboard for gaming.  The new demo, however, left me cold.  I really don’t care much for the new style.

1426  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Lays Flamin Hot potato chips on: October 19, 2004, 08:49:57 PM
Anyone else remember these things?  Back when they came out I became addicted to them, could eat a whole bag in a day but then I stopped being able to find them.  Does anyone know if they still make them?  They came in a bag covered in flames and featured either a devil or a little fireball guy with feet.
1427  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Will GHOST be the game that reels in the pc crowd? on: October 19, 2004, 07:43:06 PM
I actually bought my X-box way back when because of Fable and Ghost.  Fable is out now and it is fun, if not great, so Ghost had better be awesome!

What is the general concensus on Van Helsing?

I hated Van Helsing, one of the worst movies I’ve sat through in theater.  And this is coming from someone who really liked the first Mummy movie and thought the second was at least a fun diversion

Oh and I was Nine on the other forum.  Here’s hoping someone can verify me.
1434  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / What's your life rated on the MPAA rating scale? on: October 17, 2004, 05:13:23 PM
Just for fun I tested the marriage theory.  I for one never swear, I don’t drink, do drugs, and I don’t know any dirty jokes.  I’m also pretty much a pacifist in real life.  I’m not married but for the fun of it I chose the highest choice for all the sexual questions and I still came out with a PG-13 Rating.

So again.

You people scare me.

Nine has been knighted!

No one contacted me to tell me what happened.  I felt so alone!  And I posted a lot!  I think I had about a thousand posts…
