Mystic Knight is my favorite class in the game. ...I hope capcom makes Dragons Dogma a franchise.

My favorites are the plain ol' Strider and Assassin.  And I also hope it becomes a franchise - game is too much fun.

I can not believe both Silent Storm and Zeus are now on gog. Off to spend more money!  This thread is indeed excellent.

Makes you wonder if Funcom is already shitting bricks over Secret World - and it hasn't even released yet.

Floaty was a problem in Guild Wars and it hasn't gone away in GW2. I always attributed it to the game engine itself, but what do I know? I can relate to having friends that aren't digging the game as well. In fact, they dont like it at all. Personally, if I only played the early content I may agree. But I think the game gets substantially better as the enemies get tougher and smarter, which doesn't happen for a while.  PvP being another strength of the game for the same reason imo - fewer skills than most mmo's with much more intricate combat based on how those skills tie together.  I noticed this particularly with Thief - where weapon choice can really change things up.  I'm convinced my friends just aren't giving the game enough time.  Immersion I can't really speak to, but if its not popping your toaster, then it's just not.  I get that.

Man, I put in a ton of time this weekend.  Got to try all the classes. Such a fun game.

Ok. Which augments are shared even if I switch vocations? Is this listed anywhere?  Also at Hark: How useful are the specialty arrows you can craft (sleep, poison, explosive, etc.)?  Did you use them from time to time as enemies got tougher?
92  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Dragon's Dogma on: June 04, 2012, 01:48:08 PM
Two questions for rogue-types:

1)  Tumble?  I have seen videos where people are doing it.  Can anyone tumble around to avoid attacks, or is it a skill certain classes get?  I'm guessing Strider and Assassin maybe?

2)  Stealth:  Is there a stealth mechanic in the game?  If so, what classes are open to getting it?  How does it basically work?

Thanks.

(Yeah... still LOVING this game.)
93  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Dragon's Dogma on: June 03, 2012, 12:47:42 PM
I am having to force myself to shut my console down to get work done around my house.  This game is addicting.  It's got so many small technical flaws, but it is just so fun to play.  Thanks to Kato for taking Jaydin out and getting her some experience and that crystal currency stuff.  I especially like the way the pawns will shout out ways to deal with enemies if they have experience fighting them - That is a really cool part of this game.
94  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Dragon's Dogma on: June 01, 2012, 02:59:48 PM
Ok then, I have begun.  I like the idea of having things be somewhat challenging, so I went Strider and my main pawn is a mage and took a generic fighter as my third.  If the ass-kickings get too severe i will add a fourth character.  So far so good.
95  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Dragon's Dogma on: May 31, 2012, 11:28:47 PM
Actually, that brings up another question I have.  Can I "control" the difficulty of the game in a way by choosing higher or lower level pawns?  Or does the game limit me to a range either way for balance sake?
96  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Dragon's Dogma on: May 31, 2012, 09:41:44 PM
Thanks mo and tilt.  I think I'm taking the plunge today.  Sounds too fun to pass up.
97  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360/PS3] Dragon's Dogma on: May 31, 2012, 03:40:36 PM
I have some questions regarding the pawn system if someone would indulge me  (using Kato as an example to make things simple):

1) I saw it mentioned that pawns (other than your main, created pawn) don't level up.  So my question is, if I go to the screen where I can "shop" my friends pawns, will I get multiple level versions of each of them, or just where that pawn currently stands in terms of level?  To make it clearer, say I want Kato's pawn:  Do I get an option of Kato's pawn when she was level 5, 10, 15, 20.... or just the current version of Kato's pawn, who may by now may be much higher level than me as I start the game?

2) If I'm understanding correctly, I can sit down with (or level up) my main pawn and influence his skills and how he acts in battle.  Do I have this same level of customization with Kato's "rented" pawn?  Or is her behavior 'hard-coded' by the way Kato made her to be in his game?

3) When "shopping" through my friends pawns, will it be obvious what their strengths, weaknesses, styles of combat, etc... are?  Is this made clear to the player somehow as he shops around for a pawn he would like to add to his party?

4) What if someone didn't have any xbox friends who play the game?  Does the game offer them a wide assortment of pawns to choose from to add to his adventuring party?

Thanks.

Played it for the first time!

Loved it.  Totally loved it.  Especially as a Ranger, Guardian, and Engineer.  Funniest thing is, as a Thief (normally my class of choice in MMO's and RPG's) - I didn't like it as much.  But then, trying four professions in 6 hours isn't what I would call the most exhausting test in the world.   icon_neutral

(was pretty cool how the second I logged in for the first time, there was a Wanderers invite waiting for me too.  Wasn't expecting such a smooth guild interface).

It has been brought up on OO about a guild between The Wanders, OO and Gaming Trend.  I like to think of it as the Wandering Overlord Trend guild.  I am curious if all of you would be interested in this.  We would be larger which would hopefully make it easier to find a large group to play with and with such a large group we might be able to have a noticeable presence in World vs World.

Anyone who visits OO and here knows I'm already all for this, as I am one of the people that brought it up initially.  In thinking about it further though, maybe it would be easiest if everyone here just joined The Wanderers??  I'm not sure how some of the newer GT members who aren't already Wanderers would feel about that though.

In short- I think the idea of us all being together makes a lot of sense.

My question is related I guess.

"You've stated [somewhere] that you are pretty much done with the game.  What is the team working on now exactly?"  And tell them I'll donate a dollar to their favorite charity if they respond without using the word "polishing" in their answer.

And yeah, I pre-purchased.  Of course, I'd pre-purchase shit-on-a-shitstick if it has the name Guild Wars or Homeworld in the title though.   icon_neutral

Hey guys: I'm looking for anyone who would like to start some new characters and build them together.
I can usually play in the evenings for about 2 hours 2 to 3 times a week. I like to use steam to coordinate and communicate.

Anyone interested?

I still have an active sub, but I haven't played in a few months and have been wanting to get back in.  This might be a good way to do so.

This idea is cool.  I was hoping to join you on this, but my free time to play is too limited atm.  Would be great if you get like four of you guys together.

Yep
109  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: Guild Wars 2 on: April 03, 2012, 09:52:46 PM
So I was watching one of the 6 million videos of GW2 on youtube yesterday, and someone mentioned that in the upcoming game Tera, they are going to have actual guild wars where, much like EVE, guilds can 'declare war' on other guilds, and when in the world, will be flagged automatically toward each other.  That is a pretty cool concept, and something I always liked in EVE.

Do you guys have any thoughts regarding that?  I mean, since you can literally switch guilds "on the fly" from what I understand in GW2 - would you guys endorse a concept like that?

110  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: [PC/360] The Secret World MMOG Announced: I'm Pumped on: April 03, 2012, 09:47:53 PM
You know, I have absolutely nothing concrete to base this on, but I think you're right.  I have watched numerous gameplay videos of TSW, and I am less than impressed.  That being said, it is being made by Funcom, who I think did a pretty great job with AoC, all things considered.  Also, in watching videos of the way character customization will work, I think some of their concepts sound very cool.  There's just something about the way the game looks in these gameplay videos that seems off.  Then again, it could simply be that I'm so pumped up for GW2, I have blinders on with regards to TSW.
In short:  I agree with razgon, but have no real good reason as to why.

Doesn't make me feel any better.  Hell, I wish we were both in.

For those relegated to watching videos of the betas, assuming you've got interest, here is a list that is compiling of the 3/25 weekend videos.
There are already a shit-ton of them.

Yep.  I'm most interested in the World v World stuff, but the tournament stuff also sounds pretty great.  GW2 PvP

The PvE I'll do mostly with my family and friends, although I think the chances of me dragging them into PvP will be pretty good in GW2, as it appears small encounters won't see them dying in 2 hits from a mage's fireball of death.
