Are we going to get the difficulty level patch here in the US? (I don't want to mess with creating foreign accounts just to get a patch.)

Also can you change the difficulty in mid game?
2882  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Blue Dragon Getting Some Poor Reviews on: August 25, 2007, 05:05:09 AM
A 78% on Game Rankings after 20 reviews? I wouldn't call that bad, especially for a game that appeals to a very small US market. The game also has a number of very good reviews. Quite a bit actually. It appears to be a love it or like it ok kind of game going off of Game Rankings.

Ran it on and AMD 4400, 2gigs RAM, and a 7800 GTX at 1280x960, not perfect, but not bad, way better than I expected. After playing both the 360 and PC version I am without out a doubt buying the PC version, for the controls alone. I felt much more comfortable playing with a mouse and keyboard. Plus this is one of those games to show off your PC down the road. Once I get a Dirext X 10 card, I think the game will be near perfect performance wise.

I already played the 360 demo, I just want to see how it runs on my PC.

Or a close ally. i think we are trying to protect the one trustworthy foothold we have in the Middle East.

The shipping bin is pissing me off. Can you ship fish in it? The history doesn't keep track of fish, I didn't see any money from them. I have been trying to keep track to see what works and what doesn't but I am still confused. The money is supposed to arrive sometime the next day, right? What time? It seems like I ship stuff, and don't see any pay off. How does the bin work?
2890  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: The Irony: Israel turns away Darfur refugees on: August 19, 2007, 11:31:24 PM
I am not sure we can talk too much shit as Americans seeing that out government is doing it's best to ignore Darfur.

It does seem a bit odd that the Israelis would reject them, but it is against their laws. I can kind of see why they wouldn't want muslims in the country.

Really? I'd swear that the one I reentered at least had different starting positions. It was the spot North of Carwee Town.

Hmm, I only entered 2 or so, and they looked the exactly the same to me. Will have to look into some more of them.

I started last night. Still not sure what to think of it. Seems like a more in depth Animal Crossing so far, but it hasn't really grabbed me. I just planted some crops and wandered the city a bit. looks like there is going to be a lot to do, but at this point I am struggleing with the interface. Character models kind of suck, but all the backgrounds looks great. Music is decent, I haven't turned it off yet at least.

I don't run my network in WEP, so I can't post a code. All the DS games I have been playing, maybe I should switch it back.

Yeah, my biggest gripe is that you can't just move a cursor around the screen to examine units as far as I can tell.
For instance, it'd be nice if I could hop around between characters to see how much xp they currently have, so
I can decide if I want someone else to finish off a character for the xp bonus.

You can, once a character starts a turn press B, then you can move the cursor around. You do have to press A on a friend or enemy to see their stats though. It will show their stats and highlight their move distance on the map.

Put it in a couple hours today. Some random thoughts.

* The cut scenes drag on a little long. There is a lot of chatter going on and while I am enjoying the story, sometimes I just want to fight.
* Very linear. Couple random battles, next story battle, repeat. So far no decisions to make.
* Can be a bit hard to see who is where when everyone is clumped up, would help if you could rotate the map.
* I went with the stylus-less controls and they are pretty solid.

Enjoying the game, but it's not anything special.

2900  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Luminous Arc Impressions on: August 17, 2007, 07:08:12 AM
One thing that does bug me. On the world map, I can use the buttons fine. Once I get into battle it's stylus only, which is a bit clunky in areas. I believe you can change it to buttons only, but I like to mix it up, I don't want to be limited to one control method.

it doesn't necessarily mean 'fuck off' in a negative tone.  Ie, positive 'Hey Calvin,  finger' or negative 'ATB?  finger'.  I do agree Zeke should have kept his gripes to PM's though.

It's an online Formula 1 turn based game where you have partners. But again, can we talk about LA here, use the other wasted thread.

2910  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Luminous Arc Impressions on: August 17, 2007, 06:14:50 AM
Very limited impressions, but something none the less.

The reviews I have read on Game Rankings are pretty much spot on, although so far it seems to be better than a 69%. Most reviews say its a good game, it's just that it could be better. So far it's just another tactics RPG, nothing new or ground breaking. Graphics are great, not too cartoony and not everyone is a kid which is a nice change. Maps look good. Sound is good, it's odd hearing voice acting on the DS. Opening song is in Japanese, but everything else is in English. Acting is mediocre, not bad, but not great either. It works ok. Sometimes there is voice acting, and sometimes there isn't, you never really know when it will kick in.

Gameplay is typical. Turn order decided by the characters move skill, and then modified by what they did last turn. Move and attack last turn and you go last, anything less and you will go sooner, especially if you wait. Terrain helps, back stabbing helps, your characters have different special abilities, etc. Game play is not really anything new.

So far it seems if you like the genera, its a must get. If you are burnt out on the gameplay, don't bother.

No TRU for me either, and I have it preorderd from Liongames for dirt cheap, so getting it early means making a second long trip back to TRU to return it when the cheap copy comes in.

I was in Gamestop a few minutes ago, and they have them, but won't sell until next Tuesday.  Seems like it's just TRU breaking street date at this point rather than an industry-wide launch like some places are reporting.

And you know the damn Gamestop employees are taking copies home and playing them too. Bastards!
