2881  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Hillary Announces White House Run. Oh God No... on: January 20, 2007, 08:06:48 PM

Such BS.  Do polls now and ask which game is the best one ever: something that came out now or something that came out 10 years ago and the one that's fresh will win.  Same with presidents. That's why so many recent crap albums are on the 100 best lists. The opposite is true as well.

Ask the question in 20 years when most of the middle east is a peaceful democracy and GWB will probably be 2nd only to GW*.

That's not a real good metaphor IMO. Games change with the times, while the presidency has some clear cut criteria. Yes, in time we will be better able to reflect on the 8 years as a whole, but we can see what he has or has not done now.

I would rather Hillary than Sam Brownback. According to CNN he is officially in.

I don't think you know what DSL stands for. smile

My large DS had one on the top of the screen that was almost unnoticeable, luckily, my Lite has zero.

I hated my PSP, it had dust under the screen, it drove me nuts.

That's a good reason to get a wii.
I'd be happier if it were on DS. frown

Since the remote is much more mouse like, I think it will be a pleasure to play on the Wii. I always end up using traditional controls on the DS instead of the stylus.

No US date yet. It's supposed to land in Japan in the summer, so the very earliest the US would see it is Christmas 2007.

Bah, I hate reading about/seeing screenshots for a game that I won't be playing for at least a year.

And, Lee, on Lost Planet, I'm a big explorer, too, as I mentioned in the other forum, but I'm still finding the game to be a lot of fun.  I've played a couple of levels, found all the coins on them (er, target markers) and haven't come close to running out of time.

I have already decided not to spend the money, don't tempt me! smile

Don't use me as a barometer for Warioware. It's just a genre that doesn't click for me.

You should change your mind and get Lost Planet. It's really fun.

I didn't like Rayman much, so another mini game game was already pretty shaky to me.

I won't buy Lost Planet because of timed levels. I like to explore.
2893  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Wii] The first quarter looks dreadful on: January 17, 2007, 03:44:14 AM
It is very disappointing, but others have said, it's par for the course. There was nothing I wanted for months after the initial launch of the PSP, DS, and 360 just to name a few.

I don't think OO is a horrible place. I still post there, but not nearly as often as I used to. This just seems like a nicer place to be right now.

Not what I am talking about. If ATB came back to OO and I replied, "Vey, here comes the bible thumping," I would be quickly put in my place.

My point is not to make this an OO vs anyone thread, I just find it interesting that this thread has been quite assholish from people who left OO.

How about the fact that 2 is nothing more than a re-hash of 1 invalidates it from this discussion.

Yeah. I went there.

Yeah, but it was still very enjoyable IMO.

All this talk is about the same as if it was coming from co-workers. Just people talking and guessing. Developers are probably worse though since they are biased to the extreme.

We just need one thread for each system. "Post PS3 doom and gloom here" etc.

Assuming it really does what it says it does, that you can actually move in the stuff, that it is reliable in the long term, and that it doesn't cost as much as an Abrams to make.

I love SW, and still enjoy watching it today. But, there is a great deal of nostalgia there, which I might add, the next 3 movies kind of hurt.

LoTR is a better series IMO. They are well done, quality movies.

I forgot how hard R-Type 1 was. I could finish it back in the day on the Sega Master System, now now, and I don't have the patience to try. How is III in that area?

Liked Xevious in the arcades, how is the NES version?
2910  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Warlords, Disciples, and Jagged Alliances, oh my! [DS] on: January 15, 2007, 04:59:55 AM
It's been too long to remember the difference for me now. Besides that 1 had one map (that looked like the map in the screenshots) with the original 8 factions that always started in the same spots on the same map.

Isn't that Warlords 1? I loved 1, but 2 was amazing.

You won't be happy with the FM transmitter unless it is your only option.  It seriously sounds terrible.

Ranking the order of preference, go with the highest option you have available to you:

1) Direct input via certain cars (BMW, etc...) and head units (Alpine, Pioneer, etc...)
2) Mini Din/Auxiliary input on certain head units
3) Tape Deck Conversion
4) Bringing in your own speakers
5) Humming along to the tune in your head
6) FM Transmitter

Since my last stereo got stolen, I just bought a Sony for $100 that has the input. Haven't tried it yet, but if it you could use a better overall system, just about every system at CC had an Aux input. Maybe be the route to go.

I always do smile for a happy face, as it's the standard in most places from Word to MSN messenger. Any way we could get it so that the smile code would work too? No biggie if not, just curious.
2916  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New Xbox 360 model confirmed by Paul Thurott on: January 14, 2007, 04:06:32 AM
Don't worry, your current 360 will more than likely be dead before years end. smile

I don't know if it's fair to be too harsh on MS, they took a chance to be first, while Sony had time to see what they were doing and 1 up them. Who knew 1080p would be the big thing when the 360 was released? I didn't, all the TVs were 720p. And HD-DVD/Blu-Ray weren't released yet.

I love girls who will hang with the guys, if she started crying instead of coming along I think I would get pretty pissed about it myself. The relationship wouldn't last long.

Ridah you sound too young to be in a serious relationship. I think a lot of the advice here is from guys much older who are settled down. That's not you. Dump her and do what you want to do.
