We had a 60gig and a 20gig at work last nigth.

I saw 3 60 gigs at EB yesterday. People didn't seem to care. They were all asking about Wiis.  For a couple seconds I considered buying a PS3 but didn't pull the trigger.  I am proud of myself.  icon_biggrin

The soccer moms of the world are on to the Wii now.. Look out, get out of the way, theres nothing they won't do to get "Timmy" a Wii under the tree this Christmas.  Worse, they had the "Wii" on Oprah, so now the O'tards will be out in force looking to get one.

Its going to get ugly out there.  Especially since Oprah was convinced this will help heavy kids burn calories.   Roll Eyes

All my gaming friends at work want one too, but outside of Zelda and Sports, things are looking bleak for awhile. The early titles look like rush jobs.

The system seems to be hit with all but the hardcore gamers who think the controller/Nintendo is for kids. Basically the people who haven't played one. icon_wink

2883  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Xbox360--disc read errors on: December 14, 2006, 05:20:24 AM
Same problem, until I realized everything runs fine if I insert the disc after the 360 is turned on. If I start the 360 with a disc already in the drive, it will get a read error eventually. So now I just turn the box on with the eject button, and close it when I am ready to play the game. Weird, I know, but after many, many tests, it holds true.

Ummagumma over at OO bought 3rd party cables and had huge problems. Washed out colors, etc (can't remember everything), and it did it with 2 pairs. Believe he is getting some Nintendo ones now. Could be his Wii though.

Pizza is italian?!

Behold the History of Pizza.

Thanks for proving my point. smile

What we call pizza here is not the same as Italian pizza. It's pretty much the same as NY Italian and real italian, they aren't even close to the same.

Kevin Grey summed it up pretty good. I don't see stuff on this scale, but NCOs are expected to report abuses, some one would say something eventually, and everyone knows he is just doing the right thing/protecting his own ass. As an NCO, I would be in even more trouble for not saying something if I knew about it.

Nope, and yes the system needs work. They could learn a lot form MS.

I don't understand why it bothers you.

gellar

And is it really limited to gaming forums?  Or do non-gamers have the capacity for this attitude, as well?

I have never met a person in real life who claims they won't eat fast food. Not saying I don't know people who don't eat it, but if they don't, they don't feel the need to proclaim it. Start a thread on a gaming forum, and a few people will comment on how they don't, and it usually seems to be in a holier than thou tone.

Its more than that, apparently the straps simply cannot take much stress, and fray out pretty quickly.  I saw a report on MSNBC about it.. As I said a couple weeks ago, I smell a "Recall" on this one.

So don't let go of the f***ing thing. It's not hard. As someone who actually owns a Wii, I can tell you first hand, you have to be a dumb ass, or don't give a shit, to toss your remote. Yeah Nintendo could have made it stronger, but the user has to take the brunt of the responsibility.

Does the PS3 do hair better?

You got it backwards, he has hair in the 360 version.

Based on those shots, the Xbox360 is graphically superior.  Seems to me, the Xbox360 has a far better lighting engine than the PS3 just by looking at those shots. Also the fuzzy and washed out look on the PS3 is pretty alarming.

Looks like it will come down to the games and exclusives on which console will win, because graphically, the Xbox360 looks better, but the PS3 may close that gap, and if they do, like I said, its going to come down to the games..

That isn't fair though. The PS3 has launch games only to go off of. We need at least a year to determine anything.

I had huge problems updating it. Switched my router to channel 11, and everything worked great. Much faster. Just don't use channel 6.

No problems with the strap, I have never even come close to losing my grip on the remote, and I get pretty into tennis (I LOVE that game). I did come close to hitting my TV as I leaned forward in bowling once. Just set up a clear area where you can swing without worrying about hitting something.

Zelda is a great game. Very fun. The only must buy that I know of. I got Rayman, and while fun, it's nothing special IMO. I just like the shooting part in between the mini games.

The on board memory is good enough, for now. I have tons of room left with 3 game saves and one downloaded game. Don't worry about getting an SD card yet.

Its just that Sony was saying thigns like this will own the soul of the 360 withing days of launch! Huzzah Huzzah! and so forth..

Exactly. I wish some people hating on the article would actually read it. Check out the article, read some of the claims Sony was making about the PS3 compared to the 360.

"Microsoft is trailing behind us, but they are not a threat. They are good at improving [on products], but we will be advancing to the next level with revolutionary technology...Microsoft shoots for the moon. Sony shoots for the sun."

"With the PS3, our intentions have been to create a machine with supercomputer calculation capabilities for home entertainment...You can experience the 4D world."

"We want for consumers to think to themselves 'I will work more hours to buy one'. We want people to feel that they want it, irrespective of anything else...The PS3 will instill discipline in our children and adults alike. Everyone will know discipline."

The 360 made them eat their words. I want to make it clear that I fully expect, and hope infact, that the PS3 produces better looking games than the 360 at some point. It came out a year later, and it costs 50% more, when I end up buying this sucker I want my money's worth just like anyone. I'm not biased, I like competition.

+1

It's not that I hate the PS3, I want one, I am just not willing to pay that price for one. They get shit because they were so cocky, not because the PS3 sucks.
