I am seeing it as $55.99 at Lion's Games.

And their shipping sucks:

We offer three shipping methods, USPS First Class for $5.00 per game, USPS Priority for $6.50 per game and UPS Ground for $8.00 per game.

Am I missing something?

After reading the article I am no where near as upset or scared as you want be to be Mr. Orelliy.

Quote
The survey, known officially as the National Aviation Operations Monitoring Service, started after a White House commission in 1997 proposed reducing fatal air crashes by 80 percent as of this year. Crashes have dropped 65 percent, with a rate of about 1 fatality in about 4.5 million departures.

"There are little things going on everyday that rarely lead to an accident but they increase the chances of an accident," said Krosnick. "It's the little things beneath the surface that cause the very infrequent crashes. You have to tackle those."

2370  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / Re: Can we just get an Xbox 360 hardware sticky thread? on: October 22, 2007, 07:42:35 AM
Why? Just do a search and post it in another thread. Oh wait, no need to do a search, since it's so common an Xbox dying thread will already be on page one.

The problem is lazy posting, no need for another sticky. The last dead thread was started while another thread was already within the top 20 posts of page 1, people either don't read the boards (usually the case) or are attention whores (CK). Tongue

Sony should have partnered up with Fantasy Flight Games to make a card/board game for use with the Eye.  Or at least that should be the next logical step for them if they want to make inroads to the US and European market.  Boardgames are still big in Europe, and in the US the only problem with boardgames is finding players.  If they add online play and bookkeeping via the Eye, a whole lot of people will be interested.

And it'd also get back some of the crowd that went over to the 360 since the live arcade has Catan and Carcassone.

seeing as MS already has the camera they should start making better use of it.  Imagine Magic the Gathering with the Vision cam.....

Yeah, it would be just like playing Magic over a web cam! smile

How would the game recognize the cards you were using?

You probably don't want to get it, but that's okay.

I don't get it either. Why aren't the cards on screen and just avoid the whole camera thing? It seems like playing Magic on a webcam. I haven't watched the movies or read anything about it though, so I am probably missing something.

The PSP version of the game understandably looks a lot better than the DS version. The character models are better-defined, the environments look cleaner, and the smoke effect and the larger widescreen allows you to see more of the battlefield at a time than on the DS' cramped screen. You also miss out on the attractive, yet brief, movies that set the scene in the PSP version, replaced by stills on the DS. There is an advantage to playing on the DS, however, as you can see both the battle view and the tactical map at the same time on the system's dual screens

PSP it is then.  I'm sorry but being able to look at a map in a different screen does not sell me on that version. DS FTL

Yep, that seals the deal for me, PSP it is. I haven't been this excited about a game in awhile. Please don't suck.

I still think it's a great console, it just needs some original games.

Anyway, why the hate for it?
2375  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Final Fantasy Tactics WotL? on: October 18, 2007, 07:15:33 PM
Yeah I agree on the guests. I really hate them because it makes it very hard to set up a strategy because you have to go in to save their asses all the time.

Question: Your weapon stat (the R/L) lists the attack value and then the chance to block ie: R 3 +5%. Does the weapon always help you block, or only if you are using the "parry" skill? In other words if I am not using parry, should I even worry about the weapon block chance? So far parry seems to be pretty worthless and counter attack seems to be better.

Oh, another question icon_neutral, looking through the manual it says you will lose a character if his bravery drops too low or his faith gets to high. I have seen the values change, but what effects them? Playing a melee class makes bravery go up and vice versa?

i like the bit about letting the people decide his party.  that would be a good litmus test to see if anyone really knows his preferences.

He's running in both parties actually. On tonights show he went through the documents. To run for the Republicans he has to pay $25,000 so he made a joke about endorsements and opened a bag of Doritos. For the Dems $2,500 or 3000 signatures of people who claim to be democrats in SC. He's putting the petition on line.

I don't think it's real myself, he's going to milk it for everything he can. As a regular watcher of his show, I am loving it.

Something I don't get, people who own machines from day one, 2 years later, no problems. Some people have mulitple machines go bad. Is it a luck thing? Set up issue? (Enclosed area? leaving it on for hours at at time?) Maybe some people are harder on hardware than others? I am not saying that is the case, I don't know, it just seems strange that some people have such horrible luck while others seem to be fine.

This game is hard. I was getting my ass handed to me so I started over. This time I have made wiser job decisions, but some of the random battles are a struggle.

Are story battles always at a set enemy level (no matter the level of my guys the enemy will always be level 5 in battle X)? Are the enemys in random battles always the same level as your higher character (My highest level character is level 5 so random battles will always have level 5 enemies)? I am having issues keeping everyone in my group caught up level wise and there are never enough of JPs.

Destructor, is this really true (the 100% failure rate part)? I don't follow the stats on how many have failed, vs. how many are still going strong - though I'd have to be deaf and blind, both, to not know there have been many problems - I'm just curious if it is quite that bad. I have one launch 360 and one bought about 4 months later, and both are still going strong. Of my three friends who own them, they all have launch models and have had no problems either, btw.
No one knows, MS won't release the numbers. I have a Dec 05 model and it still works fine, but I am not a hardcore gamer and rarely play anything for more than 2 hours.

Target and Walmart didn't have it so I went against my long standing boycott and went to EB. 2 employess, one asked everyone inline if they pre-ordered (even games that have been out over a week), this is the employee I always seem to get when I go in. Not this time though, got the other employee who didn't hassle me at all about pre-ordering, he just wanted to talk about the game. I would go there more often if the experience was always like that.

I guess I'll jump in here and ask about strategy/tactical games for the DS and PSP - I don't have either, but I'm starting to do a little research, and its very tempting to pick one up.  I know DS has the Advance Wars (I believe thats the right name) that people rave about, but is there anything else like that for DS?  And what about the PSP?

Field Commander is an Advanced Wars clone on the PSP. The only tactical kind of game I have on the DS is Luminous Arc (besides Advanced Wars, which I think is a bit over rated), which is good, but not great. Warhammer Squad Commander is a tactics style game that is coming out for both systems and looks great (especially on the PSP). PSP seems to be the better choice right now for that kind of game with the games KC mentioned. Although you can play the old GBA games on the DS, like Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced, Fire Emblem, and Ogre Tactics.

That said I prefer the DS to the PSP because I like the puzzle style games that come out for it and I like the controls of the DS much better. I have issues controlling action games on the PSP and my hands get sore quick.

Remake, with a few added extras.  The main addition is the animated cutscenes, which look amazing.  They also added 2 new classes and a couple of unlockable characters.

I got the impression the story is much more fleshed out through the cut scenes from the previews I read. They have a Jeanne d'Arc look to them, looking forward to it myself.
