That's kind of neat, I wasn't sure non-soccer fans would like the ad. It is even better when you know all the players, some living legends in it (at least in the soccer world).

It can't be Robin Van Persie; he's sponsored by adidas.

Good point. Also the chance of Gallas coming off for a striker are just about nil. Even if Arsenal needed more attacking power, Gallas wouldn't be the one coming off. I got the impression the player is an attacking midfielder.

People seem to think it's supposed to be from Van Persie's point of view. But while the crest on the first team's jersey is similar to his first team's, it's not the same. And VP is left footed and the player in the ad has a different number on his shorts. Plus some people are saying VP is in the ad.

Nacer Barazite's first team's crest is nothing like that in the video. And he doesn't even play first team football for Arsenal and hasn't played against any of those teams or at that level.

I think it' supposed to a fantasy thing where you are the player.

Did anyone catch the Nike commercial during the intermission of the Chelsea Liverpool tie today? Really, if you're a soccer fan it's easily the best commercial out there. Very well done and looks amazing on HD. Here it is on Nike's site. Its the longer, more graphic version (man ass and vomit).

Spoilers below...

For the curious the camera is from the point of view of a guy (you) playing for some small team in a lower league (I didn't recognize either team in the game), you score an amazing free kick. Arsene Wenger (Arsenal's manager) is watching. Next you are getting an Arsenal uniform and in a game against Man U. Rooney and Ronaldo kick your ass, so you train harder.

Next you play against some team I didn't recognize either, and you score off a cross from Fabregas.

Women love you.

Next Inter gets rough with you, Zlatan scores.

Barca up next. Fabregas is pissed at you for blowing a play where Ronaldinho takes off.

Train harder.

Finally you are playing for the Dutch National team against Portugal. Ends with a free kick just like the one you scored with at the start.

Even if you don't know all the names, still an amazing commercial. Makes me want to go out and play.

Reading comprehension should probably come before Wikipedia, though.  4,000 <> 10,000.  It was a false data point being used to ridicule something, so I was pointing that out.  Remember, sometimes getting the facts straight before attempting to ridicule someone can prevent you from looking like an ass.

So a difference of 2000-6000 years matters? You got the point and were trying to be witty by pointing out a very small difference. You could have prevented yourself from looking like ass by just stating that creationists believe that they world is less than 10,000 years old.

But whatever the case, why would anyone ignore facts and believe that? smile

It's much better now, but loaded with "2nd division premiership" talent... Maybe bottom tier Premiership talent. I watch the MLS when I can, but I'd rather watch some Champions League myself - I love watching all the prima dona diver slappers.

More like Championship tier, besides goalies. The team with the most Americans on it (Fulham) is about to be relegated and not even Landy-cakes could get into Europe. The problem is the league just  doesn't pay enough unless you are a star.

Also since pretty much everyone makes it into the play-offs the regular season games don't seem to mean a whole lot.

I want to like the MLS, that's why I try to catch the games, but the more I hear about the mismanagement of the league and seeing some truly bad play it's hard to get too excited about it. (Maybe World Soccer Daily has influenced me.)

Here's to Barca taking out Man U today, and hopefully Liverpool doing the same tomorrow. I don't want Man U or Chelsea to have any chance of a double. smile

I am not buying it for its game play value, and I am kind of surprised at the people in this thread talking about it being a game. It's an exercise program and I expect doing push-ups and running in place to be just as exciting as doing it at the gym. Sure there might be games in it that are fun, but that's just an added bonus.

If you do a lot of file transfer on your side of the router than maybe you would want the N.  Chances are your WAN connection is less than 10 Mbit.  You could pay $180 for N or pay about $50 for a G.  If the G lasts for 3 years or so, you will probably by able to buy a N for about $50 then.  Save your money.  Go with a WRT54G ($40) or WRT54GL ($60) at NewEgg.

Like I said, you can get an N for $75, but it does appear to be buggy.

Honestly, people that haven't watched the MLS say that it sucks.  It isn't Premiership-level or anything... but it's good, competitive soccer.

Meh, its pretty boring IMO. I watch the games trying to be a fan but I just can't get into it. As an Arsenal fan I find the level of play far below anything in England, Spain, or Italy. There isn't the quick counter attacking of the Premier league, there aren't the big stars to watch, besides Becks, and there isn't all the big off field drama. Also The salary cap ruins the league and then they break all the rules to sign Beckham (another has been). I have no respect at all for the league after that.

I am going to try to be a Sounders supporter next year and hoping that having a team will make things a little more exciting. It will be even better if the Herny rumors are true, but he is not the player he used to be. I guess he should fit right in with the MLS in that case. slywink

I always go with Linksys myself, never had any issues with them so I stick with them.

You may want to get an 802.11n router since that looks to be the newest and greatest, 5 times faster than G supposedly. They are still more expensive than a regular router though. I am looking at this one. $75 on Amazon.

One thing I did find however was a D3D Windower program that lets me run F1/F2/PST/X-Com/ect in a custom widowed resolution. Really helps deal with with stretching on a widescreen panel (since Nvidia's scaling drivers blow) and helps to hide some of the graphical flaws in the older games.

If you have any problems with D3D (I heard there might be some issues) you can go in to the control panel for the card and tell it not so auto scale the image. You end up playing in a little box surrounded by black, but it works well.

Call me old-fashioned, but if I spend $20 on a book, I kinda want to feel it in my hands, leave it on a shelf, lend it to my friends etc.

Now if the price the book dropped to $5-$10 for a new release and $2-3 for older stuff, or if there is some kind of rental service, that would get my attention.

You are in luck then. The books vary from $10 for new releases and down to as low $.99 for some older titles. You can also get a lot of books for free online and can use them on the Kindle (PDFs require a free converion).

I disagree here. I think he very much loved his son, but had trouble dealing with it. He was very worried about his son after the explosion, but you saw the conflict within him. You get hand cramps on a PSP but not on a DS?   icon_confused  I'm exactly the opposite, and I've got pretty big hands.  The PSP is very comfortable, but I can only play my DS for 30-45 minutes before I feel my hand turning into a claw.

It's due to the type of games mostly. I find actiony games very hard to play on the PSP because my hands start to hurt trying to control them. The DS I have about 18 games and most of them are not action games so I can hold the DS in multiple ways without touching the screen and can even use the stylus. The PSP even for non-action games can be awkward to hold for me because of the size shape while trying to avoid touching the screen.

And again, I just like the DS games more, there seems to be a wider variety of them out there that appeal to me. I guess it all depends on what kind of games you want to play. The only game recently I was interested in getting for the PSP was the latest FF, and then I found out combat was action oriented, so I skipped it. While the DS has had a number of interesting games come out.

After playing a PSP game and then picking up the DS, the graphical difference is stunning, I have to admit.

Someone please explain to me why you would see a movie that you know is a complete lie just because you like a guy who used to do an amusing game show.
1. I don't know that the movie is a complete lie without having seen it. I tend to be distrustful of others and like to see things for myself.
2. I like to see others' points of view.

Others point of view is that people are getting fired for ID in the science community. Which maybe true, but it certainly isn't true of the people who are used in the film. Again, the movie is not about ID, it just kind of mentions it.

If you would research it, you wouldn't need to see it to know that it is a lie. Are you going to accept that they are telling the truth when you do see it? Even when every evolutionist involved in the movie is saying they were asked ridiculous question but played along because they were told the movie was going to try to show both beliefs equally and that what they said was taken out of context. When every person they say was fired etc for their beliefs when you can look up online what really happened to these people. You don't need to see the move to find this info out.

That's the problem, people are going to see the movie and take it as fact because it's easier to see the movie than dig into it themselves. The makers of this film should not be rewarded for what they did. Of course I expect the only people are actually going to see it believes in ID, and much like evolution, they will refuse to believe anything that goes against what they want to think. Why let cold hard facts get in the way?

Another bought and repurchaser here. I never used my first one because there weren't any games that interested me. Looked to be some games coming I would like so I bought a new silver PSP. Barely use it, hasn't been turned on for a couple of months. It's great hardware, but for on the go gaming the games just aren't all that great for me. I would rather have Brain Age/puzzle type gaming on a small screen, something I can play in spurts, and would rather play more complex games on a full screen system.

On top of that I find action games very hard to play due to having adult sized hands. I get hand cramps very quickly with it.

I find the games and the hardware of the DS 100x better myself. It may not be as pretty, but it's just about perfect for on the go travel gaming for me.

I did not expect that ending, until afterwards where I realized what the title meant. You know in the beginning it's going to end badly, but I had forgotten "there will be blood."
