I surprised no one has posted this one yet!

Here's the original, a fairly innocuous news report about an attempted rape in the projects.

And here's what a couple of kids, who go by 'AutoTune The News', did with it.

That's genius. Perhaps the best thing I've ever seen on Youtube. You can even buy it on Itunes!

I saw this earlier this week. I love the cover version at the end of the video. Pure genius.
84  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Anyone ever have Gall Bladder Surgery? on: August 06, 2010, 12:07:10 AM

Quote from: Scuzz on August 05, 2010, 11:39:37 PM

I had my gall bladder out maybe 10 years ago after having several "episodes".....I am surprised they took so long with you before scheduling surgery. My doctor was 99% sure after one visit and then ran a test and was positive.

The surgery is easier than passing a gall stone. Laproscopic surgeries are wonderful things. I have since had to have my appendix out that way.

You should be fine in a couple days and will be home a couple hours after the surgery.

One thing to watch out for.......I had this problem and have talked to others who had the same experience. You get a mix of irratable bowel syndrome and diarheha (sp) sometimes after a good meal. For a few years I would always have an anti-diarahrea pill before I ate out. I am not saying this will happen to you but it might. It has eased quit a bit since right after the surgery. Usually a large or rich meal would cause it.

And doctors will deny that is a side effect. Why, I don't know. But having lived it and talked to others I can claim personal knowledge.

I can say from personal experience that all of the above is correct.  It's been about 4-5 years since my surgery and I still have issues with diarrhea after meals.  Usually, a meal with a high fat content will set me off.   The surgery itself is a piece of cake.  It is about as close to drive through surgery as you can get.  My pain was relieved and I've generally felt better since it was out.

I've been wanting to check it out, but my 20 second exposure to "Mary Knows Best"  repelled me from Syfy's Thursday schedule.       Do they actually debunk the videos on this show, or is it like Ghost Hunters, where they're "skeptics" who  convince themselves that anything without a ready explanation is evidence of the paranormal?

From what I've seen anything they can't figure they convince themselves that it is paranormal.  However,  I think they officially call it "unexplained".  Last nights episode was silly.  They investigated a lake monster that was photographed in a man made lake.  They agreed that they thought there was probably something there because it was too difficult to fake a picture of a monster.  retard  The photo in question was taken from quite a distance away.  That being said, I still watch these type of shows for some reason.  icon_biggrin

A couple Circuit City footnotes...

* Here in Virginia at least, an electronics chain called HHGregg Appliances and Electronics has taken over most of the former (long vacated) Circuit City storefront locations. It hasn't opened any of them yet, and seem to be in the process of hiring for them:
http://www.hhgregg.com/
-Interestingly, HHGregg doesn't sell desktop computers -- they only sell laptops. They seem to sell consoles and videogames a bit, but not PC games.

===============================
*I saw this notice at Micro Center's site when I was looking up something today:

Customers of the Former Circuit City!

On August 28, 2009, Micro Center acquired the postal mailing list of Circuit City Stores.
Customer information is also collected through Micro Center’s acquisition of Circuit City’s customer database.

We will advertise to selected people in this group to encourage in-store and/or online purchases from us, and will solicit information from these customers when they buy from us, or want to voluntarily sign up for our mailing lists.

To opt-out of any communications from Micro Center, our Marketing Partners or other companies, refer to the opt-out sections below.
*So, if you suddenly start getting Micro Center snail mails/e-mails, and don't want them, visit their preferences page to opt out of it:
Micro Center Preference Center

*I think it says you can also opt out by e-mailing or calling them but the pref. center seemed the easiest way.

HHGregg has been in business for quite some time.  They have had one in Bloomington, Indiana where my parents live for years. I was never that impressed with the prices but I know a lot of people in that area prefer them to Best Buy for appliances and TV's.  I liked Circuit City better except for the fact that there never seemed to be a cashier available to take my money there.

Watched this last night and was surprised that Lesnar made it through that first round.  I thought they might even call it for a moment there.  He sure has a chin!

Yeah, I mean he was getting punched by the white Mike Tyson here and not an out of shape gamer. Lesnar has a really good chin; of course look at his head... it's mostly chin.

Carwin was really building a Tyson like reputation.   Bull rush the other guy in the first 30 seconds and overwhelm them.  He looked clueless as to what to do when it didnt work.

I'm not a huge Lesnar fan but I have to say he really toned down the WWE crap last night in the post fight interview.  He actually seemed pretty humbe during most of the interviews before the match as well.  Either Dana White put a stop to it or his illness changed him a bit. Maybe he just had more respect for Carwin than his other opponenets.  I guess we'll see but I have a lot more respect for him now than before the fight.

Lesnar took a beating that first round. I thought it was over when he started back pedaling and covering up.  I guess now we know he can take a punch.  I thought the whole card was pretty good overall.

Oh, I definitely have to have this.  We've been griping about not having an XBLA version for years, reminiscing about how it was probably the most fun we've ever had with a football game.

I wasted way too much time in college playing Super Tecmo Bowl.  I'm going to have to pick this up.  There will probably be less beer drinking involved while playing this time around.

I was thinking that Inquisitor minis were a larger scale but I'm not positive on that point. They may be easier to put together and paint if thats the case.  Have you thought about http://games.rackham-e.com/en/at-43 ? The armies are prepainted which would get them playing faster.  They have some box sets for most of the armies now.  If you look around the internet, you can find some game sites have some heavy discounts on some of the minis. You can pick up the starter set really cheap.

Here in the midwest the malls always close on Easter.  I saw a crowd of people hovered over the ipads at Best Buy last night.  I didn't feel like waiting for a chance to play with one.  I was dead set against buying one of these until today. You can also get a shell holder that mount on the side of the receiver itself by using existing screw holes.  They make them to fit the Mossberg 500.  I think they ususally hold 4-5 shells which should be plenty.

If your looking for an good basic 1911, look at the Springfield Armory GI.  I've seen them around here for $550 or so.   I don't know much about the build quality of the Rock Island but SA has good customer service if you have issues with one of their guns.

May I recommend a Ruger .22? They feel great, are easy to shoot, fairly cheap depending on where you get them, and if you get the silver model it looks like a .44 Auto Mag smile

I may skip the pistol in the end. I do want a shotgun and may join the NRA to boot

I want a shotgun because of the many load types. I can use bird/rat shot for these rats and such. I can use buckshot for protection. Maybe even beanbags. I do not want to shoot anyone no. And I do funny enough have a taped up axe handle under my mattress. But after 2 very late visits from people the last 2 nights claiming to be pizza..which I didn't order and someone else, the stick seems kinda useless. I want something they will hear when I "cha-chunk" it .
I have a Ruger .22 pistol.  It is a great plinking gun.  .22 is dirt cheap to shoot.  Plus the Ruger .22 grip angle is quite a bit like a 1911 so it is a cheap stand in practice gun.   I also have  XDM .40 S&W which I love.  It is a great gun and very easy to clean, as someone mentioned above.

If you are looking for a shotgun., you could do worse than an Mossberg 500. It has lots of aftermarket accessories available.  If I were you, I'd get one with a full stock and not the pistol grip.  If you planning to shoot anything past 10 yards, the full stock will be much better. You can buy full stocks with pistol grips which is what I put on my Mossberg 930SPX.  A Remington 8670 wouldnt be a bad choice either. They are pretty cheap and reliable. Whatever you decide, be safe and have fun.

When you finish Eisenhorn, pick up the Ravenor series.  It's very good and has some crossover between some of the characters. Gaunts Ghosts is also excellent.  The Horus Heresy series also has some really good reads but it has a few that I found mediocre.

I didn't think the cut/broken nose was a big deal.  It looked bad but I didn't feel like it was going to influence the fight all that much.  The series where Fedor was on his back could have ended the fight.  As others have stated, one good punch landing with those huge hands Rogers has could have ended it.   Otherwise, I thought Fedor was in control most of the match.  Big thumbs up for CBS on this one.  I hope they can follow it up with something as entertaining.

Did his wealth allow him to afford a better lawyer who had adequate time to prepare a case? I'm sure it did.  Did the fact that he cooperated 100% with the authorities play a part? Most likely.   Did the fact that the victims own action played a part? Probably.  If the DA thought he had a case that was rock solid, I'm sure he wouldn't have cut a deal.  As others have said, whether we should sentence drunk driving more harshly is another matter.  I'm not sure this sentence was that far out of line from others of its type. I just think it is shocking to hear that you can kill someone while over the legal alcohol limit and get what appears to be such a small penalty.
