I want it, because it sounds great. The problem lies with my patience to learn new games is very low, and this game has a steep learning curve. Looking forward to some impressions though.
+1 This sounds like a game I would love. I love history. I love strategy/war games but for the life of me I've never been able to get into this series or any of its siblings such as Hearts of Iron or Victoria. I think I just get overwhelmed at the start and say screw it. Maybe some day I'll actually figure out how to play one of these.

I think this would be a big mistake for the Dems to nominate her. I just don't think she is capable of winning a general election. I think she is more than capable of doing the job but she won't win. Obama would probably have a better chance. Although, I'm still not sure what his accomplishments are and I'm living in Illinois. He is intelligent and has a great positive image but it seems a little soon to be running for president. It is possible that his hype machine could burst like Howard Deans did. Just my two cents.........

I've played the demo quite a bit and it was acceptable to me. I enjoyed it quite a bit as did my son. Maybe, I'm easy to please. I also probably went into it with lower expectations than most. I hadn't read anything about it before trying the demo. Right now, I'd buy it when released. Formula One should be good at holding me over until then.

NE@Indy I'm hoping for an Indy win. I can't stand the Patriots. I think I've hated them ever since the Bears destroyed them in the Super Bowl. Plus, it would end the never ending discussion on Manning and Dungy winning the big one. I'm getting sick of that too. NO@Chicago I've liked Brees since his days at Purdue. I'm hoping for a NO win. I've never liked the Bears much but they were so bad for so long that it is hard to hate them. I'm sure it will be New England and Chicago in the Super Bowl because that would be the only combination that I wouldn't have an ounce of interest in.

Ok... further impressions:
Blu Ray -- HOLY CRAP. Why do these things COST so much? $29.99 for a movie? Methinks I'll be still buying DVD's for a while, in fact I did just last night. I looked at the side by side Invinsible DVD and Blu-Ray discs, and I opted to save freakin 15 bucks.
Are there any plans to bring the cost of the Blu Rays down to at least the lower levels of the atmosphere?
Yeah, that is the bad part about Blu-Ray and HD-DVD....they both cost more than DVD right now. Although, if you buy them used, they are much cheaper. There is one place near me that has most new releases out used a day or two after the street date for both formats. They generally charge $12.99 for used Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Needless to say, I go there quite a bit. Also, as Gellar said, Netflix and Blockbuster are your other options. My local Blockbuster doesn't have Blu Ray or HD DVD's. In fact...they suck so bad they only have a tiny Xbox 360 section! I couldn't believe it when I went in. My beef with Netflix/Blockbuster online is that they don't allow you to rent games. If one of these services rented movies AND games and you could choose which one you wanted based on your mood, I'd sign up in a heartbeat. I'm doint a trial of Blockbuster online right now. I signed up for the most part to rent Blu Ray movies. My local Blockbuster doesnt have them in store. It has some advantages. You can take the movies they ship to you back to the store and get another movie. They then mail them back for you and you next movie in your list ships. So you are never without a movie. Also you get a coupon for a free movie or game rental every month for the store. I used mine for a PS3 game. The downside is that most of the blu ray movies have a wait to get them. Im going to try it for a month and then make a decision. If netflix has less of a wait for blu ray, I may try them out.

Your router should have an IP address that you can enter into your browser of choice. It lets you access the settings for the router itself. It will bring up a page with the differnet settings. My page also has a help section that tells you what each setting does. I'm not sure if every router has the same address or not. I'm not too familiar with routers myself. I also had problems with the wireless settings on the wii. I changed my channel to 11 and it works fine now.

The F1 Demo is friggin great... it's been my favorite part of the system thus far.
Also, regarding download speeds... things were great about a month ago when all of the PS3s were on Ebay. Now that people are actually using them, I guess Sony needs to up the bandwidth.
gellar
Nice to here the F1 game looks good. There hasn't been agood one for a while. I tried playing rFactor for the PC but loading all the mods and looking all over the place for the best ones was to big of a pain in the ass for a lazy man like me.

Yeah, not being able to do anything while downloading is a big mistake. Hopefully, they will fix this in a future patch. I'm also having problems with the Playstation store loading slow and with slow download speeds. The Wii downloads much faster for me. The 360 downloads the fastest but it is wired to the router.
On the bright side, once I finally managed to download the Motorstorm demo, I had a blast. I'll be purchasing this one on day one unless it gets really hammered in the reviews. I'm going to download the demo to the F1 game. It looks like this may be the only F1 game in the near future. I hope it is a good one.

I'm not sure I understand why HDMI would suffer from signal degradation. It's a digital signal, shouldn't it either work or not?
That's my understanding too. Does someone else have any different info? I've been looking into a switch at Monoprice myself. My TV only has one HDMI port and I've acquired more devices with HDMI than I thought I would over the last year.

I managed to get mine up and going last night as well. Overall, it wasn't too bad to set up. However,I had some issues with my wireless router. I guess Sony doesn't like mine. I had to tweak a setting and it connected without dropping every 30 seconds. I didn't think the update download was too slow but the playstation store was crawling for me. The pics of the games took forever to load. I started to download Grand Turismo HD but at the rate it was going it would have took all night. Sony has a ways to go to match Microsoft in terms of their online content. The system does have lots of potential and I think, as someone said earlier, that in a year it will be getting lots more of my play time. But even given it's issues, I don't have any buyers remorse as of yet.

call it 'reverse forum effect'... tho i've completely avoided any/all excitement/discussions up here regarding anything having to do with next-gen, i must admit to've gotten pretty tired of the topic-after-topic, enormous amount of sony/ps3 bashing that's occurred the last while (& was glad the mods finally saw fit to 'temper' it all recently). while i personally swore off all microsoft products about 4-5 years ago, i've never really felt the need to trash them - not so sure what the point would be... anyway, what with my standard def tv & my complete lack of interest in available titles, i figured i'd get a ps3 maybe come springtime, whatever. & yet, when i walked into eb this morning to get something for the psp, i ended up instead walking out with one... i figure, between demos & ps1 downloads (& the odd ps2 title), i'll have enough to do with it til some interesting stuff arrives. tho lacking the clunky-funky personality of my original-style ps2, it's indeed very pretty, & very quiet... i think i'll keep it ... Your story matches mine except for the fact that I do have an HDTV and I ended up walking out of Best Buy today with a 60gig instead of EB. I ended up picking up Resistance and an extra controller too. At 12:30 today they still had 15 or so left. I even saw one lone 60gig in Target along with a husband and wife team negotiating over its purchase. . Today was the first day Ive ever seen a PS3 in a store. I am a little pissed at myself. I managed to grab one of the boxes that didn't have Talledega Nights in it. Oh, well, I've already seen it anyway and it probably isn't something Im going to watch again and again. I did use an Amazon Gift Certificate to pick up Kingdom of Heaven so hopefully that will show off the Blu Ray drive. On a side note, how easy is it to download the PS1 games to the PSP. That is really something Im interested in doing. It will force me to blow the dust off the PSP. I'd check on the playstation store myself but I cant get my son to stop playing Viva Pinata long enought to log on.

I think he believes that it will be impossible to win the Republican nomination without courting the ultra right of the party. He is probably right. I think the sad truth is it will be difficult for either party to nominate a candidate that doesn't suck up to the far right or far left. Then whoever wins has to try and swing toward the middle ground to get elected in the general election. In my mind you never know what someone really stands for at all. They just say what it takes to get elected. At this point, I probably wouldn't vote for McCain either unless the choice was much worse. A few years ago, he would have probably been my pick.

My Meijer in Bloomington, Illinois had about 20 people waiting at around 9pm in the electronics department. I have one preorderd at Toys R Us but I wanted to grab an extra controller if they were selling them. No luck there. My Best Buy had about 20 people outside with a sign on the door that they had 84 consoles in stock. Not too bad there. Target had about 8-10 people outside. Nobody outside of Kmart, Circuit City, or Toys R Us. Id say anyone around here that wants one tomorrow and gets to the stores early will get one.

I second the warstore recommendation. Ive ordered from the by phone for GW stuff and via the web store for other things and all my orders went very well. Every time Ive called, Neal, the owner answers the phone. Shipping is fast and cheap too. Ive ordered from them about 10 times and never had an issue.

I'm usually a pretty early adopter of new technology but I have to say that I'm going to wait a while on this one. I still have bad memories of VHS versus Beta. I'm going to have to see a clear winner before I upgrade. I would love to see how it looks on my HDTV though.

I took one of the coupons from the web site in a few weeks ago that got you Act of War for the PC for $9.99. It was a royal pain. I went through the checkout line and the cashier was clueless. She called the cashier supervisor over who told me they dont take coupons from other web sites. I explained to her that it was from Best Buy's web site. She told me it wasn't and that she wouldnt let me use it. She did everything but flat out call me a liar and she was rude as hell. I got pissed and walked out.
I got about three steps outside the door and got more pissed and went back in. I went to the customer service department and they didnt believe me either. I had to take the guy from behind the desk to one of their computers with internet connectivity and prove it was a coupon from their site. His response was "huh, I didnt know we did that". On the way out the door, I had to stop and tell the cashier supervisor she was wrong and thanks for wasting my time. She didnt reply. I hate best buy. Im not sure its worth the $5.00 to use the damn coupons. Nice find though for people who have decent employees in their store.

Not too late I dont think. I managed to get one at Circuit City's web site this morning. Of course, you had to buy the bundle and it really didnt have the greatest selection of games for me. Im just hoping it actually ships. I had waited in line lauch day and came up 3 people short of getting one and my computer crashed the last time Circuit City had them available. I was about to give up too. Keep looking and use one of the online sites that keeps tabs on inventory for several retailers. The other option is of course, another long wait on the 18th at Best Buy. Good luck.

Isn't there a rule that if you compare something to the 3rd Reich, you lose the debate. Not that I agree with everything George Bush does but thats a tad extreme dont you think?

I picked up Soldiers this weekend at a local EB for $6.99. It was marked $19.99 but I asked the guy if they price matched their website. He said they do but it would probably ring up at $6.99 anyway. He charged me the $6.99 but didnt say if it actually rang up at that price or if he price matched it. Heck of a deal. He did try and get me to buy the replacement warranty which I declined. To his credit, he didnt try and sell it too hard. Kind of a going through the motions sort of thing I suppose.
