I'm so weak willed.  The forum effect broke me.  I just placed an order with NCSX.  icon_biggrin  The cost was a little steep but since nothing else interests me much, I can live with it.
162  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Call of duty - World at war, or CoD4? on: March 29, 2009, 04:05:28 PM
I've enjoyed them both but I spent a lot more time playing COD4.   Maybe it was because it seemed somewhat fresh to play in a modern setting compared to the flood of WW2 games in recent years.

I'm probably more interested in Battleforge at the moment.  I'd bet Starcraft sells more than the other two combined though.  Heck it will probably sell more in Korea than the other two games worldwide sales total.  I'm kind of meh on Starcraft 2 at the moment but I'm sure I'll pick it up eventually.

I've been looking to get back into miniatures games and the hobby.  I was already planning to grab a few GW miniatures just to paint up, but now a friend and his cousin have already gotten into 40k so I'm going to have to pickup and army.  Normally I would buy from local stores but GW prices are so ridiculous I'll end up buying online from a discounter.

I'm torn between Orks, Eldar, Space Marines, and maybe even Imperial guard, in that order.  One friend is playing Eldar, another is playing Tau.

Anyone know if the Kill team rules are still supported?

Don't know about the kill team rules. They were in the 4th edition. I havent seen the new 5th edition yet.  I would say if your looking at Orks or Space Marines, the Assault on Black Reach box would be a good start for you. I think it is about 400-500 points of both, a mini rulebook and some templates. It looks like an awesome deal for $60.  You can get it from the for 20% off as well.

From some stuff I read today, Sirius is on the fast track to bankruptcy.

If that happens, my 2 hour daily commute time will be misery.  crybaby

Santonio Holmes makes my head hurt.

During his quick interview after the game, he was asked what was going throug his mind when Fitzgerald was scoring on that long TD pass.  If this quote isn't word for word, I'm sorry but my brain shut down after I heard it

"I knew our defense would get us the ball back"...

Yes, yes they did, by allowing a 64 yard TD.

icon_biggrin I thought that was funny too.

I found a copy of Mutant League football out in my garage a few years ago. Too bad I had sold my Genesis years before.  I'm looking forward to Blood Bowl. I bought a copy of the Games Workshop game a few years back but never got around to painting the miniatures.  I'm in for the 360 version.

We've shopped online for Christmas for years now but this was the first year that the majority of our shopping was done there.  I used Amazon for almost everthing. Most items were cheaper on Amazon, I paid no sales tax so that saves 8% and with Prime I had no worries about it arriving on time.  I signed up for the free two week trial around the holidays and decided to keep it.  I'm sure my savings for the holidays alone paid for the memebership.  It was worth it to me and I was always a free supersaver shipping guy in the past.

I went into the circuit city by my office today over lunch.  Not much there that I couldn't get cheaper somewhere else even with the 10%.  !0% off wasn't enough to make me waste my lunch hour standing in line.  There were probably 50 people standing in line to check out with 2 employees at the service desk to handle it.  The funny thing is I've went in their tons of times and I've never seen more than 5 cars in the lot.  Today it was tough to find a parking place.

I've used this site a few times. You can order direct from them, at least until GW finds out they are doing it.  They are selling the set for $51.25.  Don't know  what the shipping would be to Canada. I second the War Store recommendation. Great place to order from. CCG armory is another good place to get a 20% discount on GW products.

183  Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Re: Will this be the beginning of the end of Blackwater? on: December 11, 2008, 04:15:21 AM
Not sure if they have that kind of resources to self fund an invasion of that size but I read somewhere that the CEO bragged that he could put a battalion sized infantry force anywhere in the world within a few days.  If I'm thinking right that would be around 1000-1500 troops. Scary that a private organization can field a private army of that size much less as a rapid reaction force. It would be possible to partner up with an existing "rebel" faction in a small country and pull off a coup d’état.

Blagojevich is a scumbag.  He has been under investigatiion for years for corruption.  There was an accusation that his daughter was given several thousand dollars as a birthday present a couple of years ago. The wife of the gift giver received some kind of goverment position a few months later.  I'm not sure if he still does this but he refused to live in the govenors mansion in Springfield. He lived in Chicago and flew down in a private jet being paid for by the taxpayers.  He created a prescription drug/health care program that was shot down in court.  He then refused to pay the pharmacies who provided the drugs to the patients covered under the plan for the medications that was dispensed.  I hope impeachment proceedings are about to begin. We sure know how to pick em in Illinois. The last guy in the offices is in prison.  icon_biggrin

I thought that speech was a great speech. I honestly like McCain. Wouldn't mind sharing a few beers with him, but I couldn't vote for him.

His speech was exactly what was needed. He spoke to the historical quality of the election, he spoke to his government service and to his love of country. He even mentioned Obama grandmother and how sad it was she had recently died and that he was sure how proud of him she would be.

A great speech.

You took the words out of my mouth.  I respect McCain for what he has accomlished and if he had won the Republican nomination in 2000 I would have voted for him.  I coudn't vote for him yesterday though.  I hope Obama has a successful presidency.

Any other time of year, I'd buy Saints Row but with all the releases coming out I guess it will go in the gamefly list. Dead Space is a probably but I'd like to read another review or two. I'm worried about the controls. I hated the RE style controls and it sounds similiar. SOCOM may go on the Christmas List if it gets decent reviews.

Davis is a joke. He can't even handle a firing well.  He is even trying to get out of not paying off the Kiffin's contract. If they had any class at all, they would have fired him in the off season, paid the contract and moved on.  I'm not sure what kind of coach would take the job. The Raiders are doomed to fail until Davis retires or kicks the bucket.

This can't surprise anyone. Davis did the same thing to Shanahan after he was fired midway through his 2nd season.

Davis is never going to retire.

I forgot that he tried to stiff Shanahan on his contract.  I think he should just coach the team. That's what he really wants anyway.

Oh, and I just found out the Bengals picked up Cedric Benson. ALL TIME. CLASSIC.  Let's see, underachieving team with numerous legal problems hires a disinterested underachieving legally-challenged waste of space.  Rudi Cedric Benson.  Good god, if I was Bengals fan I would be suicidal right now.

Yeah, they have no chance of getting any decent coaching prospect now.  Only washed up coaches looking for another chance need apply.  Of course that fits with the players they pick up off the garbage pile so maybe it's fitting.

Nothing this week on that list, but I will get Silent Hill some day.  My problem is I keep finding recent, but older, games at killer prices everywhere and can't resist getting them.  Hell, I found Grid for 360 today at Target on clearance for $14.98.  Everywhere else it is still $59.  I have found 3 this week alone at sub $15 prices.  Just can't resist em and since soooo many of these games drop like rocks like this I am finding it harder and harder to jump day one.

Plus, like others have said Oct November is ridiculous with awesome games.  Must resist.

I'm finding myself doing the same thing. Target is keeping me in games lately.  Combine that with all the games coming out next month and a new found Warhammere addction and it all adds up to me buyin nothing this week.

I predict 2 games max before he is carted off the field.  It seems like all the guys who get multiple concussions never know when to hang it up.  A knee or shoulder I could understand but multiple head injuries.  I don't know about you but if I had a job where I was going to retire by 35 as a pretty wealthy guy, I'd like to have enough of my brain left to enjoy it.
