Just did this earlier today.  It looks like if you already had an open order for this to get the $52 price, you'll need to cancel and re-order.

That's what I had to do as well.  Glad to save the $5.
123  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Guns...need info / suggestions on: February 28, 2010, 03:26:36 PM
You can also get a shell holder that mount on the side of the receiver itself by using existing screw holes.  They make them to fit the Mossberg 500.  I think they ususally hold 4-5 shells which should be plenty.

If your looking for an good basic 1911, look at the Springfield Armory GI.  I've seen them around here for $550 or so.   I don't know much about the build quality of the Rock Island but SA has good customer service if you have issues with one of their guns.

May I recommend a Ruger .22? They feel great, are easy to shoot, fairly cheap depending on where you get them, and if you get the silver model it looks like a .44 Auto Mag smile

I may skip the pistol in the end. I do want a shotgun and may join the NRA to boot

I want a shotgun because of the many load types. I can use bird/rat shot for these rats and such. I can use buckshot for protection. Maybe even beanbags. I do not want to shoot anyone no. And I do funny enough have a taped up axe handle under my mattress. But after 2 very late visits from people the last 2 nights claiming to be pizza..which I didn't order and someone else, the stick seems kinda useless. I want something they will hear when I "cha-chunk" it .
I have a Ruger .22 pistol.  It is a great plinking gun.  .22 is dirt cheap to shoot.  Plus the Ruger .22 grip angle is quite a bit like a 1911 so it is a cheap stand in practice gun.   I also have  XDM .40 S&W which I love.  It is a great gun and very easy to clean, as someone mentioned above.

If you are looking for a shotgun., you could do worse than an Mossberg 500. It has lots of aftermarket accessories available.  If I were you, I'd get one with a full stock and not the pistol grip.  If you planning to shoot anything past 10 yards, the full stock will be much better. You can buy full stocks with pistol grips which is what I put on my Mossberg 930SPX.  A Remington 8670 wouldnt be a bad choice either. They are pretty cheap and reliable. Whatever you decide, be safe and have fun.

Captain America was always one of my favorite comic book characters.   I loved the Invaders too.   I may have to dig out my comics that I have in storage boxes and see if I still have some of those. I'm glad they decided to have the story take place in WW2.

128  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Can anyone recommend some good Warhammer 40K novels? on: December 06, 2009, 06:19:20 AM
When you finish Eisenhorn, pick up the Ravenor series.  It's very good and has some crossover between some of the characters. Gaunts Ghosts is also excellent.  The Horus Heresy series also has some really good reads but it has a few that I found mediocre.

I loved the game as well.  I still need to finish Point Lookout and download The Pitt at some point.  I missed several bobbleheads in areas I had went through already.  I eventually went back and got them all except one.

Spoiler for Hiden:
I missed the one in Raven Rock and in the 360 version I don't believe you can go back and get it.  icon_frown

I didn't think the cut/broken nose was a big deal.  It looked bad but I didn't feel like it was going to influence the fight all that much.  The series where Fedor was on his back could have ended the fight.  As others have stated, one good punch landing with those huge hands Rogers has could have ended it.   Otherwise, I thought Fedor was in control most of the match.  Big thumbs up for CBS on this one.  I hope they can follow it up with something as entertaining.

Our criteria, in order, are: temperament, intelligence, sex, looks, I guess.  I think the breed will be a really great fit for us.

I guess in Colorado, where the dog is coming from, it's illegal to sell a dog before 8 weeks.

And yes, the name is totally ridiculous... but that's okay as long as the dog isn't. smile

We have friends who have a golden doodle and just got a second one.  We dog sit for them on occasion.  They are a great dog.  She is really good with our two dogs and our cat.  She is also excellant with our two children.  I think you will be happy with the breed.

I don't know what was more brutal the Bisping knock out or Lesnar pounding Mir's face.  I thought it was a pretty good card. I did think the Belcher  decision was pretty questionable.  I thought he had did enough to win that one. Kind of makes you wonder if the UFC didn't want Akiyama to win that one.

Did his wealth allow him to afford a better lawyer who had adequate time to prepare a case? I'm sure it did.  Did the fact that he cooperated 100% with the authorities play a part? Most likely.   Did the fact that the victims own action played a part? Probably.  If the DA thought he had a case that was rock solid, I'm sure he wouldn't have cut a deal.  As others have said, whether we should sentence drunk driving more harshly is another matter.  I'm not sure this sentence was that far out of line from others of its type. I just think it is shocking to hear that you can kill someone while over the legal alcohol limit and get what appears to be such a small penalty.

Being a huge fan of the 40k universe, I'm in on day one unless the early reviews are horrible.

Going by previous games it seems like if it isn't Dawn of War it's not really worth playing. I know that GW is using the Space Marines as their way to reach the masses with 40k, but c'mon, there are so many better forces than the space marines.

Back in the day, Chaos Gate was pretty good.  I think there was  an RTS that was based off of the Epic tabletop system that was pretty good too.  The one real stinker I can think of off the top of my head was Fire Warrior which was based on the Tau.

I agree that there are other forces that are pretty interesting as well but I don't know if they would lend themselves to a god of war style game.  I guess chaos marines would fit the bill but they are still marines.  Plus your right, Space Marines are the way that GW is marketing the universe.  I'd love to see a Battlefleet Gothic game but the chances of that are next to none.

Epic 40K: Final Liberation. Very good game. Very good cutscenes, for the time... I wish there was someplace that had high rez versions of them.
There was also Rites of War, which was 40k done with the Panzer General 2 engine. It got spotty reviews, but I -loved- that game. SP has you as the Eldar, but on I think for multi you could be Tyranid/Genestealer Cult, SM/IG or Eldar.

For the 40k fan both (and 3 including Chaos Gate) are worth tracking down. I had gotten Final Liberation, Chaos Gate AND Rites of War as part of a 2 box sale at Compusa back in the day... some box set offering that included the non-40k Warhammer pc titles as well. Darn sweet deal.

Fire Warrior.... played it once, I keep meaning to go back and replay it to see if it's really as bad as I remembered it or not. The cutscenes, however, are awesome. I think I read somewhere that Tom Baker is the narrator for them, which if so makes 'em even better. Sadly, I'm pretty sure my memory is spot on and the gameplay stinks. Download the movies or youtube them and skip the gameplay.

I think I may have Rites of War boxed up some where along with Chaos Gate. I may have to go dig them out and try and load them on my netbook.  They might be a good distraction when traveling.

Heck just look at the different factions of the Empire, an Inquisitor and either some Witch Hunter or Daemon Hunters and you can make just about any Space Marine army fall to pieces. I understand that they are using the Marines as they are the most recognizable faction, and they are what GW is pushing to get folks in to 40k. Hopefully these are just placeholders and they are planning on using one of the subsets like the Black Templars or Dark Angels. It's not this would keep me from playing a good game, I'd just like to see something other than the regular ole Space Marine.

Damn, I didn't think about an Inquisitor.  That could make for a great game.  I loved the Eisenhorn and Ravenor series.

We are well overdue for a pandemic.  I'm not too worried about this particular virus though.  While it is resistant to a couple of antiviral medications, it is still susceptible to Tamiflu.  Also, while we have infections in the USA, we've had no deaths. This is probably due to several reasons but it gives me hope that if the infections rise the death rate will be low.  No need to stock up on ammo and bottled water quite yet.  icon_biggrin
