Like everyone else has said, they are okay.  We have several here in town.  One is 4 blocks from my house and I haven't eaten there for years.  Better than McDonalds/Burger King,  Worse than Steak N Shake, 5 guys and culvers.

By the way, the soundtrack screams 80's horror with its synthesizer score.  I loved that about it.  I also loved its attempt to create a feeling of timelessness by featuring old style tv sets in people's homes alongside newer hand held electronic devices for some of the teens.  The film looks like it could be set in 1970 or 2015 in many ways.

My wife and I saw this a couple of weeks ago and loved it.  The soundtrack was awesome.  It sounds like it could have been done by John Carpenter 30+ years ago.  I agree with the timelessness comment.  My wife and I talked about this as well.   The conflicting items such as the ebook reader the friend had vs the cars and homes made it very interesting.  The Detroit setting added a really desolate back drop as well.  Great movie that anyone with an interest in horror should check out.

Jimmy Graham to Seattle for Max Unger and 4th round pick wow

EDIT: I think it's a 1st round pick not 4th.

Ok it's graham and 4th round to seattle for Unger and 1st this year (31)

This was shocking to me.  Graham had a down year last year but I didn't see this coming.

Carol was great.   She faked the interview for sure.  The line about how the group protected her was awesome.   I also noticed the supports on the outside of the fence immediately.  First group of bad guys that wanted in would just tie chains to the supports and pull down the fence.  I hope this was setting something up for the future or just showing that the group inside was clueless.  With the douchebag, ROTC son running the security, they may just be that stupid.

Thanks for taking the time to post your recommendations.  I'll have to keep an eye out for Premier League and Champions League games when it starts back up.  We'll see if my interest remains after World Cup fever subsides.   Now that I can recognize some of the players it should prove more interesting.   Maybe a bigger challenge will be finding time to watch as the MLB season winds down and NFL starts up.
10  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: World Cup 2014 on: June 24, 2014, 10:57:09 PM
I've never been a soccer fan.   My high school didn't have a team until I was a senior and there was no leagues for kids.  Basketball was king in Indiana at that time.   This is the first world cup that I've really followed closely.  The USA/Portugal game was great.   I can finally start to see why the rest of the world enjoys it so much.   Maybe my interest will stick around and I can follow some other leagues.   A question for all of you fans of the sport.  What leagues do you follow outside the world cup?  Premier league or La Liga?  I gather MLS doesn't have the talent level of the European Leagues.  It seems confusing that the talent is spread out. I guess as an American, I'm used to major sports having one league that stands out.

The ban was an internal business decision by the NBA to not have a known, outspoken racist as a key representative their brand.  I can't bring myself to get too worked up over that.

Totally agree.  This really isn't any different than Marge Schott in mid to late 90's.     Baseball banned her from day to day operations and she sold the team a year or two later. Some of her statements were public and not made in private.  In the end it doesn't matter where they were made as soon as they are out in the open it reflects poorly on the NBA as a whole.  They had no choice but make an example out of him. Given his history, I cant believe too many people are surprised that he is a racist.

Just remembered that I had this preordered.  After reading through the thread, I canceled it.   2 hours of gameplay doesn't justify a purchase for me.  Plus with Titanfall and Infamous on the way, I've got plenty to keep me busy.  I still have to finish Thief and South Park and that's not counting putting some more time into Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare.   Backlogs make me sad.

Mine:

-- Eve Online
-- DOTA (1 or 2)

Eve Online for me as well.  I've tried have a dozen times over the years and just cant do it.

War in the Pacific  is another one for me.  I've bought two different versions.  The original and the admirals edition.    Just cant get past the time investment to learn it.

I give up.

Somebody needs to get fired in Dallas.  After averaging over 7 yds per carry, they stop running the ball in the second half.  Unless there is a rule that you cant run the ball after the second quarter, I have no clue why they did this.   Maybe the worst clock management I've ever seen.  Maybe I'm just bitter since Demarco Murray was one of my starting backs in fantasy.  smile

Well they needed an excuse for Romo to throw another incredibly poorly timed interception. Although the loss was hardly his fault.

I didn't see the press conference after the game but read that Garrett said Romo checked out of a called run play to throw the interception.

As far as I'm concerned, the defense that gave up 30+ points in the second half lost the game, even if Romo didn't help in the end.

Very true.  Their defense is horrible.  Of course, they could have helped them out by eating up some clock and keeping them off the field.   I'm a Steelers fan.  At least your team has a shot at the playoffs.  icon_biggrin

Wife and I saw it last weekend.  I read the book for the first time over the summer.  She had no knowledge of the book going into the movie.  I thought overall they did a good job.  There were a few things I thought could have been adapted better but it was a decent science fiction flick.     My wife liked it a little more than I did.   I'd give it a 7/10.   It was a good way to kill a couple of hours but not a classic.

I grew up around guns.  Hunted a little bit as a kid.  We always had several rifles or shotguns in the house.  Over the last 5 years, I've became more of a "gun guy".   I no longer hunt but enjoy shooting at the range and collecting different guns.  Now I shoot mostly pistols but own a few rifles as well.    I live in Illinois as well so no ccw permits yet.  When it becomes law later this year, I'll apply for one.   I wouldnt carry every day but would like to be able to do so.  Thanks for starting the thread.  Maybe we can keep it alive for discussions about specific firearms.

In mid-December, Games Workshop told Amazon that I’d infringed on the  trademark they’ve claimed for the term “space marine” by titling my  original fiction novel Spots the Space Marine. In response, Amazon blocked the e-book from sale.....
In their last email to me, Games Workshop stated that they believe that  their recent entrée into the e-book market gives them the common law  trademark for the term “space marine” in all formats. If they choose to  proceed on that belief, science fiction will lose a term that’s been a  part of its canon since its inception. Space marines were around long  before Games Workshop. But if GW has their way, in the future, no one  will be able to use the term “space marine” without it referring to the  space marines of the Warhammer 40K universe.

Seriously, WTF Games Workshop? Talk about bullies. I'm pretty sure that "space marine" was a word long before they came along. I know these guys are pretty protective of their IP but this is over the line." The author is just some small, self-published person as well. We're not talking about some huge corporation.  Perhaps Games Workshop should stop picking on the little guys and go sue someone that can afford to fight it like Blizzard.

I could never figure out why Games Workshop didn't sue Blizzard.  Wacraft and Starcraft are obviousley "heavily influenced" by Warhammer and 40K.   Heck the new starcraft trailer looks like it could be a 40k movie about  Tyranids vs Space Marines.  ( I hope I don't get sued for using the SM word. )  Games Workshop has made some interesting business decisions like prohibiting online sales of there product from sites other than their official store.  I guess nothing from them would really suprise me.

take Imodium AD, best OTC drug for the runs.

Yeah.  Great idea.   Roll Eyes

Let's stop the body's ability to purge the virus and instead let it fester in the bowel.

I rarely prescribed Imodium to my active duty patients, and when I did, it was for prolonged diarrhea and when the patient couldn't keep up with rehydration.

I have diverticultis and have used Imodium on several occasions.  I have also used it under my physicians direction for when I had the flu. It has never constipated me, it has firmed things up. While it does slow down the process, you still evacute so no it doesnt cause the virus to fester in your bowels.   Roll Eyes   On top of that, I figured that Harpua would have enough common sense to check the label and see if Imodium was not for him.  As far as dehydration, harpua had already mentioned he was taking steps to rehydrate.    Based on my physicians advice and my own personal experience I still dont see a problem with the recommendation.  Still if you honestly believe that you purge a virus through shitting, then I can understand your confusion. And here I thought the body created anti bodies called Phagocytes that attack, consume and destroy the virus.  I guess Ill have to talk to my doctor about that one because clearly he is misinformed!

Actually, there are some instances where Imodium and other such drugs are not recommended for treatment of diarrhea.   C-difficile infections being one, I believe.  Toxins from c-diff are not cleared as well if you use these types of drugs.  It's not the c-diff itself that causes the problem but the toxins they produce I believe. Ive worked with several doctors that don't recommend using imodium until a stool culture is done and some that say go ahead and take it.      Most of these type of infections cause the same symptoms.  It's impossible to know the cause without a culture.   C-diff is pretty common as well but usually caused by antibiotic use. If you have prolonged symptoms, go see your MD. So, most of the time it's okay but not always.
