Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Yankees 2, Red Sox 0, bottom of the 3rd...

SOUR GRAPES. That's what it's all about if your're a fan of a team that can't handle the fact that the Yankee's front office goes after and get's the best talent available, and WIN. Uh, when you can go out and spend $21 million on A-Rod, $18 million on Jeter, and even $15 million on a washed up pitcher (Brown), then it's pretty easy to "go after and get the best talent available", don't ya think? Tampa Bay's payroll is $30 million total (1/6 of the Yankees). How do you expect them to "go after and get the best talent available"?

I just don't think that trying to gather the entire community to one place is really the goal. Some people want to split off and make their own site, so let them I say.

I know this will not make me popular with some former poster/"friends" and certainly none of the people that started the other site, but am I the only one that sees the other site as complete ego? It looks like a bunch of former moderators that couldn't stomach giving up their moderating powers and didnt like the stricter moderation of CG decided to just create a new site with R&P forums. All this seems to have done is fracture the community further, which seems petty when CG was willing to take us in. Uh... sorry but I completely disagree. The plan to start a new forum in case of fire (i.e. GG going down) was in the plans long before it did go down. People flocked here as a place to go. For me personally, CG was just a temporary solution until a new forum got built. Now that it's up, I feel much more at home over there than I do here. It's nothing against KD and the CG crew, but this is a console site with its own ideas and goals, and it's not really what I want for a permanent solution. Still, because much of the exGG community will spend their time here and not BS/OO, then I'll still pop on by.

Hi there Red Sox fans. We really should be nice to you, and compassionate to your plight tonight, shouldn't we...
nah. Your team sucks. The Curse lives. You're not going to win a World Series, much less beat the Yankees in the playoffs, in this millenium. Face it. Did you think that up all by yourself? It seems the average Yankee fan's intelligence may be creeping up these days.

Lundmark could be a good player. I remember he tore it up in preseason a year or two ago and so I drafted him on my fantasy team thinking I was all cool. Whoops.
Still, he gives me that Pavel Datsyuk feel. Yeah, you heard it, Lundmark will be a stud. First round pick all the way!
OK, that's the last time I pimp a Ranger.

All I can say is I'm bummed out that the NHL season is on hold. As a NY Rangers fan I was excited to see what they were going to do this season. Nice to see some youth back on my team. I have heard it might take as long as two years before we see another NHL game. I really hope this isn't the case. I am hoping that they get it worked out this year, but it isn't looking good. You were actually looking forward to the Rangers season? You're a brave soul. I wish they had Glen Sather managing Yankees because then I could make fun of them. Hell, a salary cap would probably help this team so they don't get all spending happy. And no NHL season means no office pool on the number of concussions Lindros will get. I kid I kid! I just miss hockey. The Bruins probably would have been pretty bad this year so I don't miss any lost opportunities, but now I have nothing to turn to help me after the Sox suffer they're inevitable heartbreaking defeat.

I hate the new McDonald's line of ads. First, their attempt to "urbanize" their image and appeal to black people while still making crappy ads irritates me.
More importantly though, those Chicken Selects ads make me want to scream. That stupid fucktard yelling about chicken strips by the copying machine pisses me off. I'd just slam his head in that thing and then eat his damn chicken. Then I'd slam his head some more.

This was as close to a pitcher's duel as we were going to get I think. Luckily Mussina is their most consistent pitcher. Lieber, Brown and Vazquez can all go nutty, and I expect lots of runs from both teams.
I just fear for the hearts of elder Red Sox fans.

Seriously though, I'm in better spirits now that I know Boston can hit in Yankee Stadium. It may be a series yet, but the bullpen has some serious issues.

What are the Yankees doing?!?! Unless they think the Sox can score against Rivera, they have no business scoring more runs to make this game less close. Honestly.
And it looks like Timlin's run as postseason extraordinare is officially over. Boston pitching went from pretty good to very shaky tonight.
Complete game Pedro!

Too funny.
I can't believe they could actually turn an 8-0 blowout into a gut-wrencher which they will probably lose.
Whatever, go Sox.

I think the Yankees should just give us two runs and load the bases in the ninth. That way the Sox can lose in proper heartbreaking fashion.
Seriously though, I won't get too down till tomorrow. I think the old Pedro will show up, especially after tonight.

True, it's only one game, but we can't win a series with Schilling pitching like that. He's supposed to be two almost inevitable wins, and it looks like his ankle injury is pretty serious. Unless Pedro starts throwing hot shit tomorrow, I don't think the Sox are favored anymore.

Yikes.
At least my hopes were only up for two outs this year instead of seven games.
Looks like the Sox bats were on that plane from Panama as well... Mussina just got rocked.... oh wait, we're still down 3.
Typical Red Sox, gah!

Natty Lite - preferred drink of college students everywhere. I drank a lot of PBR in college as well.
Most of the beers I drink are local microbrews which I'm sure none of you have ever heard of. I won't even touch the big name stuff anymore.
Magic Hat is good stuff too.

Thanks again to the CG staff for being so welcoming. It's wonderful that you're willing to change your site to accomodate others. That being said, I wouldn't change it too much... you can't make everyone happy.
For R&P at GG, I lurked in it quite a bit and really appreciated the intelligent discussion. However, I know the animosity a lot of people have towards it so I don't really care one way or another. I tend to agree with Mr. Fed that it doesn't really fit the site.
So I doubt I'll be as active here as I was at GG. I'm visiting more than one forum now to see what's out there. Still, if I wasn't forum reading I'd have to be doing work, so I'll still be around .

Do you think the Yankees will be jumping up and down on each other after they beat the Twins? Nope, they will be getting ready to beat the Red Sox.
Not the Yankees, naaaaaaaaaaaaah. That must be "preparatory" champagne. See you tomorrow.

I think the scouter is right at the beginning of the map. But like SuperHiro says, it's pretty useless. It doesn't carry much gear, only two people, and blows up VERY easily.
Might be good to travel around in though, I never tried it.

When was the last time the Red Sox swept an opponent in the playoffs? About 30 years ago, and only once before.
Point being, who cares what happened in the past. I'll admit there's always that psychological aspect playing the Yankees in New York, but Boston is the better team (on paper) this year, so I'm at least a bit more hopeful.
And no, I don't think it's guaranteed they will win, I was just posting a smart ass response to a smart ass comment. I find it strange how you can call the Red Sox losers, when, you know, they haven't lost a game yet.

What losers the Sox are. They won the first round of the baseball playoffs. Big deal. With their payroll, it should be a foregone conclusion. The Sox looked like morons celebrating like they won a championship. Please. It just shows how different the Sox and Patriots are. The Patriots win a playoff game and they start preparing for the next one. No running until the field hugging, jumping, etc. The Sox won't get anywhere because they are to soft and satisfied by any win. They'll celebrate again after they beat the Yankees too. Just a heads up.

Another refugee here. I keep clicking on the forum but nothing happens
Still, it's only been a day. Even if the forums did go kapoot, I have hope someone will get them restarted. The domain is still there, perhaps just need a new host. It may take a while but I think the site will revive in some fashion. Until then, I'll be happy to browse here, though I admit I don't own a console. Well, post-SNES that is.
