Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Regarding "Stealth" in WoW

LD, if you're grouped with a rogue, you will always be able to see them. This may be true even if you aren't (and they appear as a "green" or "blue" label character).
However, in PvP, rogues disappear completely when stealthed, provided they aren't detected. Detecting is level- and position-based. You will always be stealthed when in the rear 180 degree vision of an enemy. However, once you are detected, you appear.
A char many levels higher than you will almost always detect you without any real effort. I think a char of equal level will need to be relatively close to see, but I haven't tested it out.
Your stealth ability is based on your level, not skill level in stealth (which makes you move quicker while stealthed). There's a talent, Master of Deception, which slightly increases the effectiveness as well.
Once you are in combat, you can no longer stealth.

Most "bind on pickup" items are from boss guys in instances, and any unique items (which are often blue). However, blue items you find in the regular world or those you craft are examples of items that don't bind on pickup, just bind on equip.

Please, do not take my word for it, peruse the Blizzard boards and see the outcry.
Ooop, there's the problem right there. Reading those boards guarantees to lower your IQ by 10 points. I remember seeing all the whining the mages did at the end of OB after they patched them, and now there's relatively little when Blizzard did absolutely nothing to them in the meantime. Now I think the warriors are a bit underpowered, and Blizzard even admits this to some extent, but but I wouldn't base your opinion on a bunch of hysterical 12 year-olds who can't spell the word "the". Basically I think the class needs a bit of tweaking, not a major overhaul.

I played Horde in the beta and am playing Alliance in retail, and I agree that Alliance is a bit easier to do, but not that much. Horde quests might require a bit more running, but I don't think the difficulty is any more personally.
The reason I think there are so many more Alliance is that side is the "good" side, which people tend to pick in computer games and such. You can identify with a human or an elf more than an orc or troll. Most people going in have no idea if Alliance or Horde is "easier", they just go with what they're familiar with.

I'm pretty sure poison isn't related to herbalim or alchemy at all. However, it is related to thistle tea, which is like insta-energy for rogues.
My rogue is mining/engineering, mostly just for kicks. I like it a lot so far, there's a bunch of neat utility objects to use and lots of explosives of course.

I just saw Dark City the other day and highly recommend it. It flew totally under the radar, but is a great classic (in the philosophy sense) sci-fi movie. And Jennifer Connelly is in it (yum).

Your favorite player EVER just resigned with the Cubs. He was quoted as saying he was contemplating coming back to the Red Sox just to piss you off, but figured he couldn't walk down the street without everyone saying "Hey Beautiful" at him.
And Todd Walker is about to resign as well.... now let's just give them Millar and the triumverate shall be complete!

Farming - killing mobs in a specific area over and over for experience or items (especially for professions)
Camping - I love complaining about this. Basically an area where there are a lot of players waiting around for things to spawn so they can kill them (usually used for quests). Example: "The quarry is seriously camped right now."

The bad luck of the glass flying in your heart is completely removed from the fact he put it on the stove. If you did the same thing, there's a 99.99% chance you would not die from the exploding lava lamp.

Bad luck? Doing something stupid waves the whole bad luck clause. Still, to have a shard of glass fly at you with the proper size, speed and trajectory, to pierce your breastbone and go straight into your heart? That's pretty unlucky.

They have an honor system planned where you get points for PvP wins and such. You can then use those points to buy things or gain prestige for your clan or something along those lines.
As it is right now PvP is just for being able to kill other players.

Heck - this game was nearly complete 3 months ago when it was still in closed beta. And it rocked then. Hmmm . . . I've heard a whole heck of a lot of "Well it's an MMORPG, so it's never REALLY complete" kind of, well, I'll say "excuses" on whether it's "complete" or not. But I'm really on the fence with this one whether to pick it up or not. I've been playing FFXI for a year and I love it. I tried EQII but it just wasn't as fun as the previous game stated. From a personal point of view, would you recommend it to me to try? Simply put, yes. WoW, if anything, is fun. It's simple, easy, and fun.

I played on a CST server last night and had to wait about 7 or 8 minutes in the queue. There was definitely lag but not nearly as bad as the ridiculous lag there was in the Beta. I'd wait maybe 5-10 seconds for a loot sometimes, but that was about the extent of it.
And I don't see why there's such a hubub about Blizzard saying go play on other servers. I'd rather wait 10 minutes in a queue than play on a severely overloaded server and not be able to do anything.
I have a feeling once the holiday weekend is over things will settle down a bit.

I headed to the mall during lunch (and now I remember why I hate malls), checked EB Games and Gamestop and neither had it yet, so I headed over to Best Buy as a last resort and they had a big ol' display case practically untouched, so I snagged one and was on my way relatively painlessly.

The "Unofficial" Console Gold guild, Almost Heroes, is also playing. I call it unofficial because it's not sanctioned by the CG staff, we just used the boards as a way to organize it. So far I think we've got 15-20 members mostly from the CG and OO boards. ZenGamer is just Rage's site that's hosting our forum at the moment, it's not a separate guild or anything. You can check out the boards here: http://www.zengamer.com/forums/index.phpWe're aiming to be a casual, fun guild with mature gamers. A lot of us will be playing it quite a bit, but I don't think we're aiming to be a "hardcore" guild or anything like that. Rage can say more if we wants. We will also be playing Whisperwind, but as Alliance.

Man, I just can't pick a class!!! Argh. I wish I had a better idea of what the guild needed...
I have a high level mage, a mid level warrior, and some teens-rogue, hunter, pally, warlock, etc.
Right now I*want* to play mage the most, but I am disgusted with the recent changes, and for a primarily PvE player (thats me!), the class can be tremendously, mind numblingly boring (fireballx2 or 3, fireblast, nova, repeat).
Following closesly behind the mage is the warrior. My gnome warrior is so much fun to play both from a RP standpoint and just well, because he is a gnome with a big sword!!
Third is probably a paladin-I really like the mix of spells and stuf, but the melee is just not as fun as the warrior.
hmmm.choices! I'm almost definitely going to be a gnome mage if that helps your decision any. Not saying having two is a bad thing, but don't feel obligated to be a mage.

I think it's what you said. There are no coded differences between the two (like there is between PvP and Normal), but it's supposed to be for those who want to RP. Like no pointless banter on general chat and such. The real main question is how tough they're going to enforce it.
I don't really care unless the RP servers are somehow hindered by RP restrictions, and then I'd rather play on Normal.

Alright, I've 99% sure I'm going to be a gnome mage at this point. I tried most of the classes out, but I liked that one best. If I had to be something else, I'll go for priest.
Not sure that I'm going to really play until a week or more after release, since I don't want to contend with the incredible lag that may result (especially over Thanksgiving break, hoo boy).

Yeah, I figured out the right click method after trying to frantically leave the group when everyone else had.
I'm not surprised there's a slash command for it, but I didn't want to be running around saying random things trying to figure out the command for it.
But thanks for the info, I'm better informed now.

well what's cool about the game is that any monster has a chance to drop something awesome (for your level) gone are the days of camping only named mobs. Whats funny is you see folks that do not realize this who are camping named mobs. In the newbie dwarf/gnome area there is a cave with some trolls. Your final mission before you leave the area is to kill the boss troll. You have idiots that just sit there at the spawn killing it when it pops because they think they are going to get a magic item off of it. By the time they do actually get a magic item off the creature I will be 5 levels ahead of them with items better than they got. I also see higher level noobie folks "grinding" early on and it makes me chuckle. They do not realize that quests are abundant and are much better exps that grinding. It goes to show that old MMOL habits die hard. I was in the same spot last night and there were about 10 people camped around waiting to kill the guy. He spawned maybe three or four times before someone came up with the bright idea for everyone to group so we all would get credit for the kill. Kinda funny. I would've tried to start a group, but I had no idea how and didn't want to look like a total idiot
