Six ounces sounds about right to me. That's one chicken breast, which when combined with, say, rice and salad, is a satisfying and filling meal. I almost never eat more chicken than that in one sitting. Of course, American serving sizes tend to be considerably larger than their European counterparts.
But you guys are smaller....and you know, 'Murica and all that.

Hello folks who make GT happen. I just wanted to compliment GT staff on the excellent writing and content as of late. I have really noticed an uptick in quantity and quality over the last number of months. Or maybe I'm just doing a better job actually reading content instead of just the forum. In all seriousness, thanks for your efforts and proud of you all! Thanks! We've been certainly doing our best to raise our game. We appreciate the words of praise!

Our ad script is timing out. We've got a ticket open with the vendor to see that resolved. Dreadfully sorry. We will deactivate it until they fix it.
On the other hand, we've cleaned up quite a bit of code this morning and did some serious optimizations across the board. Cut the page load time significantly. Got some other goodies in the works. We know this has been an issue, as has stability. It'll all be for the better.
Thanks for your patience all.

I find that portion-control diets are not the best. Ketogenic diets where you aren't measuring everything but instead watching the amount of carb intake works much better for me. But yea....6oz of chicken is kinda nuts. In terms of calories you could eat 5x that in lean turkey for the same 'spend'.

Well, at the very least, don't scrap the forums, whatever you do.
That's not gonna happen. We WANT to overhaul them and make them better, it's just a big project and we've had to weigh priorities. It's not so much an 'if' but more of a 'when'. I'll back up Mike. This forum is the first place I check every day. If anything you'll see more people as we improve and unify the two audiences. You know, we'd have more traffic if I wasn't so strict on not letting morons into our playground...hehehe

I sling my media around with PS3 Media center and a cheap switch in my closet. It can hit an Xbox 360, PS3, and a bunch of other stuff. It doesn't HAVE to be HDMI or doing some odd PC in the front room. Cost me an afternoon of wiring. My PC stays in the office, my media goes where I am. As for prebuilt, you could look at Origin or MSI. I've used both (my laptop is an MSI) and have had great results. And no, no refresh strangeness.

I have no idea, but wouldn't it be easier to just use a boom mike with a cable? It seems like you're just asking for more parts to fail with a wireless lapel mic. I always assumed those lapel mics were better for studio type sit down interviews. Wouldn't you need two or more for that kind of thing?
Hmm....I may be WAY overthinking this. You know, one of those stick microphones with the GT box around it might be a far better idea.

Before every commercial we are getting the "Coming up on" stinger to "keep us interested and coming back". It makes me want to not come back.

I loved the show, but damn it....the "Coming up" portions are even worse than I expected. Hell, Vikings shows you the whole show twice given how much they show, but somehow this is worse. "Oh look! A fight!" - 'Coming soon... (shows fight outcome)' - Why am I watching this? :/
I won't watch this live again - TiVo is the only way I can watch this.

I have a Panasonic HDC-TMM900K camcorder that I purchased exclusively for use for GT. Unfortunately the omnidirectional microphone on top is...well...it's crap. The light is also not the best. That said, I can fix both of these things with a lavalier mic but to make those work I need....: 1ea phantom external power adapter 1ea 3.5" stereo input microphone jack Now I looked up this site but there are a lot of options. I have *no* idea what to buy for the power pack for the lavalier, nor do I know what type of lavalier mic to buy. I'm at a loss and it would be cool if I could get some help. I intend to ask for these for an early birthday present so I can take them to E3 for coverage, but I don't know what to ask for. Any suggestions?

So talking with people at work about Game of Thrones it is clear to me that we have 0 subscribers to HBO. Every one of them professed their willingness to pay for the show, but found the box sets unreasonably priced or were unwilling to crank up their cable subscriptions for one show. There are ways to get HBO To Go but the restrictions on how it's obtained seemed unreasonable. When the conversation turned to TV shows we got into a different aspect of the same concept. A show that was shown for free (and you can pick these up with over the air HD antenna) but the boxed set fetches 40 bucks per season seemed unreasonable but they were very nonchalant about pirating TV shows. When I brought games the water became muddy - some falling into the 'try before you buy' crowd, some falling into the 'support the industry you love' and others into a shockingly strict "never pirate anything" stance (the same folks who started this talking about stealing Game of Thrones, btw).
I'm interested to know where you guys fall in this whole thing.

May I ask what condition required a hysterectomy? My wife had one at age 26 to cure endometriosis. Just ignore this post if you would rather not say.
Hit the nail on the head. She's had endometriosis since she was 17. It was odd being told by a doctor when she was 18 that we should get pregnant as soon as possible. She's had 4 surgeries since then to try to alleviate the issues, but the scar tissue and damage was reaching a point where it was just not possible to repair. When they looked at the organs once removed he speculated that the massive scarring inside would have overtaken the organ and scarred the outside within a year, had we not done the hysterectomy and the oophrectomy (removing the ovaries as well).

I'm not griping that they wiped out that debt, I'm upset that nobody in this entire damned process told me "Hey, that's gonna count as misc income - might want to put away a little to cover for that" or anything of that sort. I had NO IDEA they were going to hit me with 40,000 of additional taxable income so I was caught unaware and unprepared. I pay my taxes like everyone else, and I understand only a fraction of the 800+ new tax laws each year like everyone else. I'm not crazy about the use of the phrase "handout" though - my wife was injured so catastrophically that she can no longer pursue her dream. Her ability to do normal things any other 34 year old person could do are gone. It's not like we are welfare people cranking out kids to raise the dollar amount on our monthly check. "Handout" makes it seems like we are trying to work the system or like we are some sort of freeloaders. The 13k I had saved over the course of a year was on hand for the surgery my wife just had - a full hysterectomy and oophrectomy. I still have NO idea what the eventual costs of that might be, insurance or otherwise. Anyone who's spent 3 days in the hospital knows that they like to bill you for every thread in the sheets individually. In the end, that money will go back to the government for this "handout", leaving me to try to scrounge to pay for the mystery bills that'll come in over the course of whenever the hell the doctors decide to bill me. (I got a bill 2 years later for her last surgery)
Putting it another way - if I don't find a way to pay this bill in full, you won't have a place to post a reply.

It's been a tumultuous past few days for my family. Laura went in for surgery on Monday for a Hysterectomy and Oophrectomy. She's finally home today and resting. This spells the end of a long-standing issue for her, so it's good that it's behind us. It's at least one less source of pain for her. But then.....I did my taxes. I knew that I'd be seeing a higher tax bracket due to my new job, but what I didn't expect was Laura's student loans. Due to her disability the bank that held one of her student loans (a shade over $40,000) forgave the loan and expunged it. Well...what I didn't know is that that "gift" is considered misc. income and that hit me with an additional $40,000 of taxable "income". This left me with a bill of over $13,000 in taxes to pay this year, effectively wiping us out of every dime of savings. I find myself filling out "fiscal insolvency" paperwork - not something I'd expected to ever have to do in my lifetime. I am continuously amazed by the blessings I get every once in a while, but I'm equally amazed at how severe some of these financial 'jack-in-the-box' moments are as well. I suspect I'll be returning to the site and to this board in a few days when Laura is feeling better, but man....can a guy get a damned break in the mean time?

1313 was a standout amazing thing though. Seeing it in action, I WANTED that game...can't say that was the case with their titles for a long time. I hope people somehow convince them to keep going with that title....or farm the whole thing as-is to somebody. Something!

Not Stephen Russell. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I do think the trailer looks good, but the first time I watched it all I could notice was someone else doing Garret's voice. I will still likely be giddy as a school girl when this comes out (unless my PC can't handle it). Same here - the wife immediately said "Wait, that's not Garrett!", and honestly - she's right.

Now that you've played Steel Battalion, can you explain why ANYONE thought "These controls are complicated - let's remove them all and use motion controls!" was a good idea?
That looks like it'd be a lot of fun. There just isn't anything like that out here in Phoenix, sadly.

just got Cloudflared, but only in Firefox 19.0.2. in IE the site came up just fine while FF kept on coming up with the "click to retry for live version" screen. tried FF a minute later and everything was back up.
*nod* DDOS against cloudflare continues today, but it sounds like it's finally getting under control. Frustrating and embarrasing.
