Translation of names and tracking won't be an issue.  It also won't be handled via forum updates forever either, we'll look at automating it into something a little more sleek and automated.  If we end up going this route, give us some time, we'll develop something very nice, trust me.

Also, I'm thrilled at the WARM reception the mods here at Console have been extending to us, so I definitely plan on hanging here (gotta talk 'em into giving me/ rolling over my _just_ hit +100 GG trader feedback though, LOL!)
We have already decided that we'd extend that for all GGers.  It wasn't lost with the old server. smile

15656  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Gone Gold Update on: October 10, 2004, 01:29:19 AM
I just spoke with EV1 (who owns Rackshack, the company that hosts GG).   They were less than forthcoming with information as I don't have Rich's password (and rightly so) but I did get this out of them.

"I can tell you that this is not a technical issue.  Its something other than that."

You can take that for whatever it is worth.  He did say that if somebody has the password they could call in and get all the information (billing? plug pulled? whatever?) but since I don't have that information I'm shut out.  Mods?  Bill?  Stephen?  Somebody?

I'm glad that everyone is settling in ok here.  All that I ask is that we be patient and figure out what is going on before we make changes.  If things go south with GG, I'll re-open Road to Gold, open a PC forum, open a hardware forum, etc.  You'll find yourself in familiar territory fairly quickly.  If not, we'll re-assess after we find out more completely what the status of the site is.  I'm just loathe to open a bunch of forums if there is to be a mass exodus back to GG when/if she opens back up for business, ya know?

You'd be shocked at how often I play PC games.  If GG falls I'll be shifting CG's focus to include PC gaming.  That will probably include the front page as soon as infrastructure and manpower can accomodate.   Lets see what is what first...
