15561  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / MMORPG Question on: November 23, 2004, 07:29:39 PM
Here is some insight:  I can run this site, manage her staff, and play WoW while working full time and going to school full time.  I'd say it fits nicely into the small nooks and crannies of limited time constraints.
15562  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Summary of WoW Guild Info? on: November 23, 2004, 07:27:22 PM
I belong to a massive guild called The Lost Order of Akalabeth that dates back to the pre UO days. We play pretty much everything and have hundreds of active members. (http://www.lostorder.com)  We'll be playing on the LOTHAR server and I'm hoping that regardless of the formation of any other guilds they will to.  All cards on the table, official and unofficial don't mean squat to me, I just want the community to well...commune and work together and have fun. smile
15563  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Are you interested in an official CG WoW Guild? on: November 23, 2004, 07:23:26 PM
I simply go by the will of the readers.  I'll be doing my own thing with my guild, I just was offering to set up something affiliated with the site as that was what was requested of me.  This won't be turning into a pissing match, so lets not go down that road, k? smile
15564  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Are you interested in an official CG WoW Guild? on: November 23, 2004, 04:25:36 PM
I'm not looking to undo his work.  I'm just saying that I've got a lot more than 15-20 messages in my box that want something official.
15565  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Are you interested in an official CG WoW Guild? on: November 23, 2004, 04:13:17 PM
Some folks have expressed an interest in an official CG guild.  While I'm a member of a far larger guild I'd be willing to make an official guild if there is a lot of desire for something official.  I'm not looking to step on anyone's toes here, but the requests are a bit more overwhelming than I anticipated.
15566  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [CG Announcement] MMO Forum Opening Shortly on: November 23, 2004, 02:28:49 PM

15572  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [CG] Ad Banners on: November 23, 2004, 03:46:39 AM
I'm working on those as well Tebunker.  If I could get a steady stream of those I'd go games-only and never look back.  Its hard to put us and Penny Arcade in the same boat though. smile

I'll look into the scrolling to the side thing, those ads shouldn't have broken that.  As for donating to the site, I've got a paypal account setup with the email address [email protected] for that sort of thing if you are inclined.  smile
15573  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [CG] Ad Banners on: November 23, 2004, 01:54:05 AM
Well, I'm also trying to keep the deceptive ads away.  I honest don't think I'm the #857336'th visitor to this site, nor do I think I've won.  I also think that you guys are savvy enough to know that it is a function of profitability and nothing more.

We aren't in any danger at this point, just would be nice to not have to run CG entirely out of the lint in the bottom of my pockets and instead be able to get some cash flow to buy upgrades and such for the place.
15574  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / [CG] Ad Banners on: November 23, 2004, 12:38:46 AM
In an effort to reduce our costs and grow our site we are trying a new ad agency.  The ads are not generally game related per se but they might just pay the bills.  I'd like your feedback and would appreciate your patience.  Be honest but constructive please.  If there is an ad (and don't say all of them) that is particularly bothersome (flashing, etc) please let me know.
15575  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [VtM: Bloodlines] Anyone else having trouble? on: November 22, 2004, 08:39:22 PM
Here is what I got from Troika:

# Make sure your system meets the minimum system requirements of the game. (https://activision.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/activision.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=13686)

# Make sure you have the latest video and sound card drivers from the manufacturers' websites. (https://activision.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/activision.cfg/php/enduser/atvi_guide_video.php)
(thats a pretty decent list o' card mfgs too!)

# Set your desktop to a resolution of 800x600, 32 bit True Color.
1) Right-click on your desktop and select Properties.
2) Click the Settings tab.
3) Set your screen area to 800x600.
4) Set the colors to 32 Bit (True Color). Under Windows NT this will be listed as 65554 colors.
5) Click Apply and OK.

# All background applications must be shutdown prior to running the game. (https://activision.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/activision.cfg/php/enduser/atvi_guide_system.php)

Lets see if that works.  Its a start!

LA fits with the story though, Europe has a strong vampiric lineage, but LA is kinda mutts-land until the Prince steps in.

As a senior store manager I know how important it is to make the customer happy. If I was you I would take the game along with the the proof of purchase and raise hell in the store demanding your money back or a new game.
Ask for the DM # along with the corprate number.
most managers know when it goes that far the customer will come out on top and they the manager will be looked down upon.
you may receive up $25 in gift card or the above a new copy of the game and a free strat guide.
Dont take this sitting down.

And there is the best advice.  Take it to the DM, just know that you'll be dealing with some corporate shill who hasn't a damned clue about your outrage and will use EB's corporate RMS training to try to calm you down.  Be clear with what you want up front and don't take no for an answer.

For instance, feeding in an interesting and important part of the game. You have to go out and find someone to get blood from, but of course if you kill an inncocent you lose humanity, and if you're seen doing it you will break the masquerade. So you have to find willing people or just wait for people to wander into an alley and then...

I'd be interested to know how many hookers, or as I like to call them "Meals on Heels" I've fed from.  I must look like a pimp with the time I spend with the ladies of the evening....

As for the game itself, I really think its a great RPG, as long as you approach it as such.  It isn't HL2, despite the engine.
15591  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Final Pre-Launch WoW Guild Roll Call on: November 19, 2004, 01:50:05 PM

HK is my favorite character as well.  I don't know who moved this either, but if you guys want it in the other forum it can go right back.

I loved Suikoden III, I couldn't put it down until I found every character.  I put 110 hours into the game!  Did it have problems, sure.  I dunno, I just was pulled in.  As they say, your mileage may vary.  I'll have to get ahold of this Kitsune character....

Shalebridge Cradle from Thief 3

I'm throwing my hat into that ring as well.  I've not made it to Ravenholm yet, but it'd be hard pressed to get past the Cradle.  That said, I think Ocean View in Vampire is pretty damned solid as well.  If it were more confined it'd be even better (or worse, take your pick).

Does the game "require" fast twitch combat?

You know, that is a good way of putting it.  This is pretty low twitch combat.  The combat here is a little slower paced.  You pick your skills (celerity, blood rage, etc.) and you engage in combat.  You do a little damage, they do a little damage.  Its not like Halo 2 is or what I imagine HL2 will be (haven't gotten it yet) where combat is over very quickly.  Its a bit slower paced than that and the enemies (and you) can take a bit of a beating before they go down.

P.S. "Stars" for reviews are weak IMHO.  Quantify your reviews so they mean something.
