You better cut it out with that Jade GARDEN stuff....I know one of the programmers reads this forum. The thing that impressed me the most was how seamlessly you could bounce between a hard martial arts style, then whip off a few magic spells, then finish them off with a swipe of the sword. I played the game for an hour at a private meeting with Bioware during E3 (no cameras allowed. ) and I never felt like I was fighting the system or the controls.

You'll really dig Jade Empire then, they have put so much effort into that game. Best Action/RPG hybrid I've seen in a long time.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Brooke Burke KINDA hot?!?!?

In my opinion, Brooke Burns is hotter than Brooke Burke. Granted, I think I'll have to just block out that she is dating Bruce "Hudson Hawk" Willis.

But not the worst superhero ever...that honor is split between Captain Planet and Aquaman. Uh...one guy is a greenpeace nut with no real powers unless people believe in him (might as well be the Easter Bunny for crying out loud!) and the other can talk to fish...uh whatever man.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Game Discussion: Spider-Man 2 [All]
|
on: June 29, 2004, 08:02:20 PM

Welcome JoePez. I'm gonna defer to Tim on this one as he has played both. When I asked him a similar question he did say that the only version he is aware of is that the Xbox does load the levels (it only loads between levels) faster and that it supports progressive (I believe). He'll answer when he gets a sec.

Well, for some of the newer problems (DSO Exploit) there is no defense other than not using IE. MS has to patch it for that one to go away. Unfortunately you can't just kill a process as it runs as a batch and the file name and registry entry is polymorphic. These things resemble their virii brothers more and more every day...

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Jade Empire...did you know?

The little minigame that looks like an old scrolling arcade game was actually a joke? Just something to distract and break away from the code for a little bit of fun. Seems that the testers liked it so much that they demanded that it stay in the full version.

Just posted some new screens for Rogue agent on the site, man that game is starting to look nice. With EA onboard with Live, what does this spell for the Cube and PS2 version? Yes, the PS2 has multiplayer, but by the time the game is released will the Cube shift to online, or will Live escalate the sales of the Xbox version far above even the installed userbase of the PS2? Any way you slice it, its gonna be very cool!

Stiffler,
You have just experienced what has consumed my time for the last week. I wish I could say it was a bandwidth issue, but its not. Our current host up and suspended us the other day without warning or notice (awfully nice isn't it?) and that is when we found that we were utilizing too much CPU horsepower. It seems that our wonderful site is too 'feature-rich' and all those database accesses are bringing the server to the ground. I convinced the host to give us a little bit more time to try to correct the issue, but you can see they much prefer to just suspend my account when the site gets 'too busy'.
All that said, we have found a new host that assures us that they can handle us easily (they host Nasdaq, Gateway, Shacknews, Fileshack, etc.) so if it comes down to it we might be moving there rather quickly. If that does come to pass, I'll be posting in here explaining all of that and what the repercussions will be. Or as I like to say...more to know as I know it.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / What Xbox games are you looking forward to in 2004/2005?
|
on: June 27, 2004, 10:11:10 PM

I'm with you on Burnout 3, I really enjoyed the previous ones and I'm hoping that having EA as a publisher doesn't wreck the whole damned thing, Lord knows they have shit on my dreams before. *cough Ultima cough* In the more immediate, Spider-Man 2 is by all accounts knocks the socks off, and based off what little bit I've seen that is absolutely true. Tim's review is embargoed until Wednesday, so expect it the second the clock strikes 12:00. I'd have to say that I'm looking forward to Fable still, it looks unique enough to make me interested to play it at least twice, once on each side of the neutral. On the RPG and Adventure side of things, I'm really looking forward to Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, KOTOR2, Syberia II (the wife really enjoyed the first one), and Advent Rising just covering the next few months.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / There is going to be a raid....
|

Ok, so I'm listening to NPR on my way home and I hear that there is going to be an enforcement raid on border crossers over the next week. Umm.....doesn't anyone think it is odd that they are announcing this the week prior?
*Knock Knock* "Yes?" "Uh, hi, this is the police...we are going to raid your crackhouse next week, ok? Don't remove any evidence and make sure everyone is there and unarmed, ok?" "Uh..ok...see you next week." "K, thanks buy!"
Why would anyone who has heard that not just wait a week or two and cross then?
