What Eco meant to say is that Firefox will get cookies but because its a non-compliant browser it'll become confused and probably just chuck its cookies.   (I like Firefox, I just like playing both sides of the war better)

15486  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / i want my game music!... on: December 10, 2004, 03:39:09 PM
Karubu's Shoe!

I've always purchased the Blizzard Soundtracks and DVD's of their cutscenes sight-unseen just because I trust them based on their previous products.  The only time that burned me was with the Starcraft "Soundtrack" which was actually some Korean-made DJ mix crap of soundbites from the game mixed in with crummy techno.  :/
15487  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / i want my game music!... on: December 10, 2004, 02:59:15 PM
Welcome semiconscious!  I'm with you - I want soundtracks.  Some of the games through the years have had some great soundtracks and I would have enjoyed having them at my fingertips rather than some shiny metal box to toss in the box of boxes. smile

15510  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Movie Quote Game - Round 2 on: November 29, 2004, 08:40:50 PM
Ok kids, you know the drill by now.  For those new to the game, I'll kick it off with a movie quote.  You tell me what movie its from and if you are correct you get to some up with a quote.  Occasionally the quotes are phophetic, often they are profane, so this thread is rated R </MovieFone Voice guy>.

If nobody is able to break the movie quote within 24 hours you have to fess up the answer and go again.

Lets kick this off with an easy one:

"Hey, these blow up into funny shapes at all?"
"Well, no. Unless round is funny."
15511  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Goldeneye: Rogue Agent (Can you say "ouch"?) on: November 29, 2004, 07:54:36 PM
Hey, I enjoyed the hell out of Burnout3.  I loved Burnout2 so I knew what I was getting into.  The computer cheating?  Yea, knew that going in.  Is that EA's fault?  Nope...they didn't put in one bit of code.
15512  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Pirates! - A few thoughts... on: November 29, 2004, 07:13:34 PM
It could be that I still play Pirates! to this day but I found that I could devistate a Spanish War galleon with a Sloop.  Maybe the difficulty level will rise as I play but it didn't take long before I was the top dog on the pirateyness list and I had purchased most items twice.

"Hey, I've got this great spyglass to sell you!"
"Is it like the one on my hip here?"
"Yes!  Exactly like that!"
"Will it actually do anything different than when I didn't have it?"
"No!  Its the same!"
"Here, take my money good sir!  I'm a sucker for an overpriced duplicate bargain!"
"Yarrr chaching!"
"Off to my dancing lessons!"
"Oh I got boots for that!"
"There's no help for me good sir....Pirates don't dance."
"Yarrrr, especially with the wood leg"
15513  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / How have CG's forums changed since the flood of GG refugees? on: November 29, 2004, 03:06:19 PM
I have to admit that I was a bit worried there for a while, but good discussion among managers and mods and the community at large kept the oars in the water.  I'm happy with how things turned out.

As far as how things changed, we do have a bit more traffic than before, but I don't think our core has changed much.  We had a solid community of people interested in gaming and I think we still have that.

That said, I'm happy that we are now covering PC - there were just too many great games that we were not covering because of our console-only focus.  I'm happy to be covering great titles like WoW, EQII, Vampire, HL2, etc. as well as the smaller nitche titles that some folks won't necessarily pick up like CSI and Sherlock Holmes.  As we move forward and integrate PC a bit better I think the focus will re-adjust and blend so its more even, but that'll take time.  I love watching this site grow...
15514  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / why does it take hours for private messages to be delivered? on: November 29, 2004, 02:55:27 PM
Hmmm, I'll look into this.  I've not noticed any latency but that doesn't mean its not there.  Keep me posted if you see any other fluctuations.

We have 80 people thus far in the guild roster of The Lost Order of Akalabeth.  Don't know if you guys are interested, but suffice to say there is always somebody on.  I don't want for gear, enchantments, or anything else - our guild takes care of its own.
