15441  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Where is OO? on: December 28, 2004, 11:41:40 PM
retard  ninja  smoke

Oh yea....we got the cool smileys too.  As for not being a PC site, meh...we held the only review on the entire Internet of Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines for several days.  I'd not call that a small feat...hell, IGN was almost a week behind us.  We do plenty of PC gaming round these parts...

If it makes you console haters any more comfy, you can think of a console more along these terms. Linky cuz its huge.
15442  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / What happens if your personal message box is full? on: December 28, 2004, 04:53:56 AM
Of course.  smile
15443  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / What happens if your personal message box is full? on: December 28, 2004, 01:13:29 AM
You should get a mailbox full notification.   The pain in the ass is that it uses a pop-up to notify the recipient that they have new messages so unless they allow pop-ups from us they won't see the notification.  You'd have to rely on their powers of observation to see the "1 message waiting" notice.
15444  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Random Fighting Discussion on: December 27, 2004, 05:32:27 PM
I like kickboxing as much as the next, the only drag is that most of the fighters I've trained with are more destroyed by the training than any battles they might find themselves in.  They burn out too fast.  Martial Arts, traditional ones anyway, are a way of life.  You train for life and you live to train.  I might be a little more soggy round the midsection than in my prime but I've not lost any of my lethality because I did put in the 6 days a week, 4 hours a day for about 22 years.  I look forward to graduation from college not so much that I'll be a network engineer but more that I'll free that school time to go back to training.   You want to learn how to fight 'quickly'?  You might want to rethink why you want to learn how to fight, it might be just a hot head talking.  You want to learn how to completely devistate your aggressors two and three at a time with minimal effort?  Put in the time and get 'good' at a martial art.
15445  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Halo 2.5 on xbox 2...confirmed?!?!? on: December 26, 2004, 03:16:17 PM

15446  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Merry Christmas to all! on: December 25, 2004, 07:45:57 PM
Merry Christmas to everyone as well from all of us. smile

My wife and I are skipping the Christmas gift thing this year, her gift from her boss was the opportunity to find another job. :/  Oh well, my mom is here and we are having a big dinner as a family, that is worth it for me.
15447  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / No cd cracks and CoC on: December 24, 2004, 03:03:19 PM
I'll tell you a story that will explain my feelings on them.  I am a huge Ultima fan...despite being burned time and time again by EA and their purchase of Origin I was very much anticipating Ultima 9.  I got the game and rushed home to install it.  I had purchased the "Dragon" edition, the box is essentially the size of a sheet of drywall and there are a ton of goodies inside.  I more than paid for my purchase.

I couldn't play it.

For whatever reason, safedisc hated the True52X CDRoms from Kenwood and I happened to have one.  I had to resort to a no-cd crack to play the game and realize my full dissapointment.

Fast forward to more recent times, I'm playing Morrowind and I'm wondering why I'm getting such jerky performance on my system.  One no-cd crack later and the thing runs like silk.

Lets face it, no-cd cracks are almost necessary for some games to even function.   That said, lets be smart about it, take it to PM or email.  Out and out requests for the no-cd in public forums make the publishers unhappy which hurts the site, some of them don't realize that we are a more mature gaming crowd who actually purchase the games we play.

15454  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / Flashing banner ads: anyone else want them to stay off?? on: December 20, 2004, 11:24:36 PM
I'd ask that if you see a particular ad that is irritating or offensive you send me a screenshot at [email protected] so that I can send it to the agency for deletion.  It makes it easier than describing them. smile Thanks!
15455  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Vampire: Bloodlines Import question on: December 20, 2004, 12:30:53 PM

15456  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / Flashing banner ads: anyone else want them to stay off?? on: December 20, 2004, 12:57:36 AM
It could be a second ad Raven.  The point is you don't have to be rude about it.  I had one removed, that much I can confirm.   If I see (or am alerted) to another one, I'll have it removed.  I see the other one that you are talking about so I sent a request to have it removed - I'm sure it'll be done Monday morning.  Until that time, I challenge you to find me another webmaster that is willing to remove an ad just because YOU don't like it.

I am very appreciative of what you guys are doing!  Thankfully the agency I work with is aware that I will not compromise my readership with shoddy ads and they are very responsive when I ask them to remove the offenders.

On behalf of the staff, thanks again...I can't express how much it means that you value the site and our work that much.   Happy Holidays!
15461  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / Flashing banner ads: anyone else want them to stay off?? on: December 17, 2004, 11:40:21 AM

D'oh!  I'll have that thing killed immediately. smile  As for the paypal thing, it is always appreciated - my paypal account is [email protected] and all proceeds go directly to server costs. smile  I'm glad that you guys enjoy the site, one day I hope to be able to do it with only game related ads...we are getting there, this is just a step to move in that direction.

15466  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The worst game you played this year. on: December 14, 2004, 04:08:24 PM

15468  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / i want my game music!... on: December 10, 2004, 03:39:09 PM
Karubu's Shoe!

I've always purchased the Blizzard Soundtracks and DVD's of their cutscenes sight-unseen just because I trust them based on their previous products.  The only time that burned me was with the Starcraft "Soundtrack" which was actually some Korean-made DJ mix crap of soundbites from the game mixed in with crummy techno.  :/
15469  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / i want my game music!... on: December 10, 2004, 02:59:15 PM
Welcome semiconscious!  I'm with you - I want soundtracks.  Some of the games through the years have had some great soundtracks and I would have enjoyed having them at my fingertips rather than some shiny metal box to toss in the box of boxes. smile
