Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Gone Gold having server problems again?

Maybe they are upgrading the server or changing the software? If they are, they are leaving everyone out of the loop. I would say that the odds of that are somewhere around the odds of a Duke Nukem Forever gold announcement . Or better said:

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Behold the Book Of Ratings

I've been reading this thing forever...its semi videogame related, so here we go. From the rating of Angelic Orders @ http://www.bookofratings.com/angels.htmlSeraphim
The highest rank of angels, the Seraphim have the task of constantly circling God and telling Him He's great without actually looking at him. This pretty much fits in with popular notions of core angel skill-sets. The weird thing is that they have six wings and four heads. That's eerie. It's not the sort of thing I associate with angels. That's the sort of thing I associate with Final Fantasy boss monsters. Maybe evangelists could work with that. "Jesus is the ultimate save point" or "Christ is my walkthrough" or "If you spend enough time raising chocobos you can get the ultimate weapon: not going to Hell!"

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Rapture....
|
on: September 10, 2004, 04:24:41 PM
|
|
So I'm sitting here writing reports and listening to Club977.com's streaming 80's. Blondie's song Rapture comes on....
That song is by far one of the most retarded songs I've ever heard. Why did it take me until now to realize how stupid it is? Let me explain...
"Toe to toe dancing very close Body breathing almost comatose Wall to wall people hypnotized And they're stepping lightly Hang each night in rapture Back to back sacroiliac Spineless movement and a wild attack Face to face sightless solitude And it's finger popping Twenty four hour shopping in rapture Fab Five Freddy told me everybody's fly DJ spinning I said "My My" Flash is fast flash is cool Francois c'est pas flashe non due And you don't stop sure shot Go out to the parking lot And you get in your car and drive real far And you drive all night and then you see a light And it comes right down and it lands on the ground And out comes the man from Mars And you try to run but he's got a gun And he shoots you dead and he eats your head And then you're in the man from Mars You go out at night eating cars You eat Cadillacs Lincolns too Mercurys and Subaru And you don't stop You keep on eating cars Then when there's no more cars you go out at night And eat up bars where the people meet Face to face Dance cheek to cheek One to one Man to man Dance toe to toe Don't move too slow 'cause the man from Mars is through with cars He's eating bars Yeah wall to wall Door to door Hall to hall He's gonna eat 'em all Rapture Be pure Take a tour through the sewer Don't strain your brain Paint a train You'll be singing in the rain Said don't stop to the punk rock back to back, body muscular spinless movement, bite the jugular one to one technology And a ardour, no sign of saviour in Rapture Well now you see what you wanna be Just have your party on TV 'Cause the man from Mars won't eat up bars where the TV's on And now he's gone back up to space where he won't have a hassle with the human race And you hip hop And you don't stop Just blast off sure shot Because the man from Mars stopped eating cars And eating bars And now he only eats guitars Get up!"
Ok....if you can read about the man from Mars eating anything that would rhyme with bars and not wonder just why this song is/was popular...I can't be all alone on this one.

SHADOWBANE: THRONE OF OBLIVION™ ANNOUNCED Extensive Expansion Pack Introduces New Vampire Race for Online Role-Playing Game
SAN FRANCISCO – September 9, 2004 – Ubisoft, one of the world’s top game publishers, announced today the Shadowbane: Throne of Oblivion™ expansion pack will be available at a manufacturer’s retail price of $19.99 on November 30. The expansion for the critically acclaimed massively multiplayer online (MMO) game Shadowbane® will feature an entirely new realm and rulership system that allows players to seize and vie for control of sections of the game world.
"Shadowbane: Throne of Oblivion brings guild warfare and city sieging to an exciting new level with a strategic end-game that is unprecedented in the genre of MMO games. ‘Build an Empire’ was one of the early rallying cries of Shadowbane and with this expansion, our players can do exactly that," said Frank Lucero, Shadowbane’s producer. “Shadowbane: Throne of Oblivion brings with it the new Vampire Race, new classes and disciplines, each with special powers and abilities designed to enrich PvP combat. Additionally, graphical improvements and extensive refinements to the existing siege system will enrich play and improve performance.”
In addition to the new strategic systems, Shadowbane: Throne of Oblivion will feature extensive new player options centered around an invasion from the Lands of the Dead. Shadowbane: Throne of Oblivion marks the first time in an MMORPG that players can play Vampire characters. The Vampires’ clothing and armor will spotlight their supernatural power and allure and demonstrate the appeal of these creatures while exploring a new visual direction for Shadowbane. Their unique powers, strengths, and weakness will add new layers and tactics to the Shadowbane PvP landscape.
New classes, including the Nightstalker, Necromancer, and disciplines including Vampire bloodlines and four new siege disciplines will also debut in Shadowbane: Throne of Oblivion. Existing classes and disciplines will be undated to account for the arrival of the undead legions, and new weapons will add new dimensions to the existing power dynamic, forcing players to make new strategic decisions.
Shadowbane: Throne of Oblivion will also feature graphical enhancements, shown off to their fullest in new adventuring areas with all-new high-level content.
Shadowbane: Throne of Oblivion is pending rating by the ESRB and more information can be found on the official Shadowbane community Website, The Chronicle of Strife: chronicle.ubi.com.

|
on: September 03, 2004, 03:15:51 PM

Well that's too damned bad. It has been cancelled due to 'technical difficulties'. Technical Issues usually boils down to "We'd like to finish the game but technically we'd have to pay you, and that will create difficulties as we technically have no money". D'oh! ____________ Codemasters has taken the decision to cancel further development of Dragon Empires, the company’s massively multiplayer online role playing project. Dragon Empires received incredible support from its online community and won acclaim from PC and online media while in development. However, technical issues have resulted in the project’s discontinuation. Many of the game’s development team, including programmers and artists, are being transferred to Codemasters’ internal development studios to work on current and future titles. The decision to close Dragon Empires’ development does not impact on Codemasters’ long-term ambitions in the massively multiplayer online gaming market and the company remains very active in evaluating future opportunities. The Dragon Empires website and its popular community forums will remain live at www.codemasters.com/dragonempires for the immediate future.
