I went to EB to buy XIII the other day and they didn't have it anymore, so I'll put my request in for that one.
That makes me even on PIFFs.
edit - ps. RB the way it works is that you have +4 on karma now, so take a look at what's been offered up and see if anything interesting is there.
edit 2 - Sorry, greeneggs, didn't read all the post.

Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / EB PC preowned<$14.99 now 70% off (Sale Over??)

UPDATE - These deals are at Brick and Mortar - I don't know about online.
- At my store, the first item rang up at 70% off today (11/22), so the friendly clerk offered to ring up my four items in four separate transactions so I could get the discount on each item.

Signs still said 35% off but prices rang up at 50% off.
Also, many prices on stickers are wrong - eg. Iron Storm was stickered at $13 - price check said it was now $6 - Paid $3.

Edit 2 - Checked at two stores today, and both said sale ended.
Edit 3 - YMMV, but wankerjr reports 70% off is still possible (See below)

Hi, alienhead_69
Thanks for offering up all the freebitude -
I'd like to give the Mafia guide a good read. I have the game but haven't got around to playing it yet - I will soon and this is perfect timing.
I sent out the Age of Mythology Strat guide as a freebie, but I have another copy of the same guide to offer up to keep my karma even.
I'm also thinking about asking for the Ghost Recon guide, but I'll have to find a PIFF strategy guide to throw in the pile.

Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / EB Preowned PC < $14.99 are 35% off (also prices reduced)

Remember that some preowned may not be priced correctly. Rallisport Challenge was marked $9.99 but was actually $4.99. Then I got 25% off that.
Also got C&C:Generals Deluxe for $14.99 - 25% = $11.25.
Then I picked up a couple older games that are not available anywhere else -e.g. GPL.
edit : Title and this update: I was in the store in Greensburg, PA today, and many prices of preowned had dropped substantially - check your local store.

Hi mikeg -
FWIW, I tried to register at a site lately and they wouldn't let me - e-mail denied. I contacted them and they sent a message a couple days later.
They said that they had been attacked and that the problem had come from non-isp issued e-mail addresses, so they are denying registrations on that basis. I sent in my ISP issued address and they signed me right up.

Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Anyone have an old HD sitting around?

Thanks, deadzone -
The school really misses this computer, and it will be a big help to them if we can get it up and running again.
When the computer refused to run, I took it to the place that built it for the school. They checked it out and said that the HD was the problem. I was surprised when they said they wanted to put a 40 GB in it. It has a 6GB drive and I thought it might not be able to handle one that big.
They wanted $75 to put in the HD, but the whole computer isn't worth that much, and who knows what might conk out next. The school didn't have a need for a big drive. That's when I thought of the members on this site. I know some of the members of GG chipped in when other similar needs came up in the past. I thought someone might have an old HD sitting on the shelf.
Let me know what you find out. It sounds perfect for them.
unbreakable, thanks for the tip. If nothing else works out, I'll check out the site. And thanks for the warning on the IBM drives. I knew some of their drives had troubles, but I wouldn't have known if these were some of the bad ones.
You guys are great! Thanks for the help.

Our small school has a computer with bad HD sectors. It won't even boot.
Does anyone have an old HD (6-8 GB)? I'd be glad to pay for shipping. I'd like to get that machine up and running for them.

I'm assuming this is a PIFF thread. We had one like it over at GG, but the thread stagnated after a while.
I'd like to take that Freespace 2 manual on my next journey into space. Who knows what dangers lurk out there.
I'll offer up Age of Mythology.
Anyone out there have a Mafia guide just sitting on the shelf?

I planned to look up some of the traders in my saved e-mail, but I'm having problems getting my yahoo e-mail to open.
edit - OK - Got it to open and have been cutting and pasting for an hour or two.
I have info on 44 traders in my GG traders folder. I'll pass on the info to warning and he can confirm for those who request it.

Hi, engine - Thanks for posting.
LE, Thanks for posting the price on EB. I saw it was that price on the website a week ago, but the B&M store didn't have the lower price. I'll check again.
Just curious now, engine - what store were you in when you saw it?

Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Should we carry over GoneGold trader feedback?

I'd hate to lose my + 26 rating, but it would be even worse to lose the records of the other traders. I count on the list to see if someone is a reliable trader. I just used it for that purpose 5 minutes ago.
I know it may be an imposter, but I doubt it because of the nature of the e-mails we have exchanged today.
How about leaving the list up for a couple months while we sort things out?
One thing may help. I have saved the e-mails I sent to all the traders I dealt with and in many cases (not all) I know the User name from GG that is associated with that e-mail.
We could set up a thread for the purpose of checking out the creds of former GG traders. If a trader I have dealt with requests it in the thread, I would be willing to send a private message to one of the mods with the info I can verify. If the mod sees that the user name and e-mail address match up with the info on CG forums, he/she could allow the feedback to carry over to this forum ie. (+1) (+26).
I would hope that one of the members I have traded with could vouch for my past trade(s) with them.
Traders would have to realize that there could be scammers who get through, but they would be soon found out and get negative feedback.
Maybe that's too much work for someone, but it might not be a problem at all. You tell me.
