American Tabloid by James Ellroy. He perfects his staccato delivery from White Jazz and delivers a great alternative history of the JFK assassination. This is the book that turned me into a rabid Ellroy fan - too bad the next two books in the trilogy did not live up to this fantastic start - Bloods a Rover was just a chore for me to read.

Hmm I always hear good things on Plants vs Zombies. I did play the demo to that Lara Croft game. Seemed pretty cool but the AI tribesman didn't travel around with me and help at all. Just gave me his magic spear. Does he actually help in the full game because from what I read about it he would seem to have to. Is it tough to find someone to co-op with?
Oh also tried the Deathspank demo..was ok..has promise...just not sure.
The spear gives Lara some of the other guy's abilities so that you can play the game alone and still complete the co-op puzzles.

I keep my PSP in almost constant sleep mode and I only have to charge it about every two weeks or so. Clearly I am not gaming on it much, but I *never* turn it off.

The DS vs PSP issue may come down to how you intend to play. If you play in short bursts, the DS may be better because it is faster to get from turning the unit on to actually playing.
I disagree with this. I use the sleep feature all the time with my PSP1000 and can be up and gaming in seconds.

Thanks, MG. I would love to have a more detailed view, but this is at least an improvement.
BTW, I am really loving the game right now. It really is more of a "Pokemon" RPG hybrid than a "loot and stats" RPG hybrid like Puzzle Quest. The upgraded creatures have some really cool abilities that bring some serious strategy into the gameplay. For example, I have a yellow wolf guy who can set off opponents abilities if he is able to destroy them with one of his own ability gems. Therefore, it is a good strategy to save some of the long range gems until an opponent has popped out a skull gem and then try to knock it out with one of mine. I'm starting to run across opponents that remove my gems, so it is a bit of a game to see how long I can keep something out.
I find the game pretty deep and fun. Just don't go in expecting Puzzle Quest and I think it will be much more enjoyable.

The coolest part of this is that it could make the arcade a much more viable system for MS. Drop the price a little more, include a 2GB (or lower) USB drive with the system - just to give noobs the idea - and then have a ton of XBLA and DLC customers where they can really make some money.

Well, I really like the puzzle mechanics of this game. I have a question about the PC version: Can you zoom out on the game maps? I haven't been able to find out how to do this and I would love to see more of the map so I can move more efficiently.

Massive amount of Wii and DS titles on clearance after a fairly lengthy dry spell...
Here are the notable titles:
Wii: Wii Fit $62.98 Shaun White: Road Trip $13.98 Ravin Rabbits 2 (probably spelled wrong) $13.98
DS: Hotel Dusk $13.98 Advance Wars: {something with "ruin" in it} $13.98 Nintendogs $13.98 Guitar Hero 2-Pack $13.98 {some walking trainer with two pedometers that plug into your DS} $30.98
360: Bionic Commando $14.98 Godfather II $7.98
PC: LEGO: Batman $4.98
There was a lot more Wii and DS titles but the above were the only ones that held any kind of interest for me.

When do the markdowns take place roughly? I saw a couple of games that I wasn't quite ready to jump on but would if they went down another $5-10.
My local Targets update the clearance area on Mondays.

Quick questions from a total Halo noob...
1) Should I really be exchanging my weapons for alien tech right away? Ammo for my stuff seems to be awfully scarce - I've only just started the first flashback so maybe the actual game will be different.
2) What is the best way to deal with shielded opponents early on? Those guys eat my automatic rifle ammo for breakfast!
The game is pretty cool and I love taking out grunts with my pistol, but those brutes are really chapping my ass...

This is for all the Orlando whiners...
Howard just had his 5th foul of the game - 3/4 of the way through the 3rd quarter - transferred to Hedo T.
All stars get preferential treatment, not just the evil Kobe.

Considering that the officiating is pretty bad to horrible for both sides, I would consider this a poor agument. Also, it is a fact of life in the NBA that stars have different treatment and that the playoff tend to be a bit rougher. Both sides are dealing with the same type of abuse. Strange side affect of the "biased" officiating was Orlando having almost double the free throw attempts that the Lakers had - too bad their percentage was so low...
Don't blame the officials...Orlando has thrown away two games all by themselves.

D Fish is D man!
Does Orlando use Pam instead of talc on their hands? They really let a poorly shooting Laker team stick around way too long and then lost their heads just as the Lakers were finally putting it back together. I certainly have a lot more respect for Stan Van Gundy after this series, but his players really make some bonehead moves at times. Nice to see Nelson get popped in the mouth at the end - I was hoping he swallowed that fucking mouthpiece he likes to show off so much.

One of the best ways to really appreciate red wines is to have them with food - either a nice steak or pasta with tomato/meat sauce. Syrahs (also known as shiraz) are also a nice entry wine as they are pretty fruit forward in general without being overly sweet. If you have a Fresh & Easy in town, go grab their Big Kahuna for $1.99 a bottle - shockingly good for the price and just knocks the shit out of Trader Joe's "2 buck Chuck" Charles Shaw wines.
As everyones else has said, drink what you like...but it is also fun to be a little adventurous at times and maybe you will stumble into something you like even better than your new find.
